East Star Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a delightful "camping near me" experience centered around a pristine lake and offering a range of amenities, East Star Lake Campground, located off County Hwy N in Star Lake, WI 54561, USA, presents an excellent choice. This campground has garnered positive feedback for its clean facilities, beautiful lake access, and variety of campsite options, making it a welcoming destination for families, couples, seniors, and individuals alike. While a direct phone number is not provided in the available reviews, the detailed feedback offers a comprehensive look at what this campground has to offer.
East Star Lake itself appears to be a major highlight, described as a "great lake" with "super clear clean water" and a "sandy all around" swimming area. This makes it an ideal spot for swimming, paddling, and simply enjoying the beauty of a clean and inviting lake. The clear water suggests a healthy ecosystem and an appealing environment for water-based activities.
The campground offers a variety of campsites, including traditional sites and unique "walk-in sites." One reviewer enthusiastically recommended the walk-in sites, noting that they are "no more than a 100 or so feet to sites right on the water" and conveniently located near "clean bathrooms really close by." These walk-in sites offer a more secluded and direct connection to the lake, often appealing to those seeking a more immersive natural experience without a long trek. However, another reviewer mentioned that their "site felt really close to the neighbors," indicating that the level of privacy may vary depending on the specific campsite and the impact of a past natural event.
Speaking of which, the reviews mention a tornado that came through the area "last year." While this unfortunately resulted in a lack of privacy in some sites due to the damage, it also created an abundance of natural resources, with "plenty of wood down if you are willing to get it." This could be a benefit for campers who enjoy having access to firewood for campfires, although it requires some effort to collect.
The facilities at East Star Lake Campground are consistently praised for their cleanliness. One reviewer noted that the "bathrooms did not smell terribly as do some other pit toilets" and that "they were kept very clean and stocked." Another echoed this sentiment, describing them as "clean non smelly bathrooms." This attention to hygiene is a significant plus for any campground and contributes greatly to a comfortable camping experience.
Access to potable water is also well-provided, with reviewers mentioning that the "pumps have potable water" and that "there are 3 water pumps here." Having multiple water sources ensures convenience for campers throughout the campground.
The staff at East Star Lake Campground are also commended for their helpfulness and friendliness. One reviewer specifically mentioned that "the parks lady was super helpful and nice," indicating a positive interaction with campground personnel.
For those looking to explore the natural beauty beyond the campground, the "West Star Lake Nature trail" is highly recommended for hiking. This suggests that the area offers opportunities for scenic walks and immersing oneself in the local flora and fauna. The presence of a nature trail adds another dimension to the camping experience, catering to those who enjoy hiking and wildlife observation.
For boating enthusiasts, the campground features a "boat ramp" that is described as "well kept and easy to launch." This provides convenient access to Star Lake for those wishing to bring their own boats for fishing, watersports, or leisurely cruising on the clear waters.
Despite Star Lake being "quite big," one reviewer noted that "the landing and campground was really quiet" even on a busy weekend with high temperatures. This suggests that East Star Lake Campground offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, even when it's popular, making it a great escape from the noise and bustle of everyday life.
The positive experiences at East Star Lake Campground have led to repeat visitors, with one reviewer stating, "Coming back in the fall for sure!" This speaks to the overall quality and appeal of the campground.

East Star Lake Campground Reviews
Fun 4 day/3 night camping trip with family. Our site felt really close to the neighbors as seen in the picture. Unfortunately due to the tornado mentioned in other reviews the privacy in some of these sites is lacking. Bathrooms did not smell terribly as do some other pit toilets. They were kept very clean and stocked.
Aug 09, 2022 · Cassandra DickmannVery nice campsites. Tornado came through last year so plenty of wood down if you are willing to get it. Clean non smelly bathrooms. Pumps have potable water. Good prices. Swimming area is sandy all around. Great lake, super clear clean water. The parks lady was super helpful and nice. Absolutely recommend hiking the West Star Lake Nature trail. The boat ramp is well kept and easy to launch. There are 3 water pumps here. A gem here is the walk in sites. Its no more than a 100 or so feet to sites right on the water and clean bathrooms really close by. Despite Star Lake being quite big the landing and campground was really quiet( weekend and 90 degrees) Highly highly recommend. Great for family, couples, seniors, kids, you name it. Coming back in the fall for sure!
Jun 06, 2021 · Hunter DenisonClean and quiet. One of the prettiest lakes in the state. Note that this is a rustic campground. If you need electrical hookups and flush toilets to camp you are SOL. Generator use is allowed but with very limited restrictions. It is also NOT a partying campground. Even on weekends it is quiet by 9:00 or 10:00.As of 2022 reservations are required. However if there is an open campsite you can reserve the day of on your smartphone or at the Crystal Lake Visitors Center.
