Gadsden Campground & Tubing Introduce
For local users actively searching for "camping near me" in the Attalla and Gadsden, Alabama region, Gadsden Campground & Tubing, situated at 2075 AL-77, Attalla, AL 35954, USA, presents a multifaceted option to consider. Reachable by phone at (256) 344-2473 or mobile at +1 256-344-2473, this campground appears to offer not only camping facilities but also recreational activities such as tubing, potentially making it a unique destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at Gadsden Campground & Tubing seems to be somewhat varied. One reviewer who stayed in April reported that their visit did not align with the expectations set by online visuals. They noted significant ongoing construction at the campground, a detail they were not informed of prior to their arrival. This construction reportedly led to a constant presence of construction trucks, disruptive noise levels, and a general environment that felt like a "giant sandbox" surrounding the campsites. This is a critical piece of information for local users seeking a peaceful and relaxing "camping near me" experience; the current construction phase may impact the ambiance and usability of certain areas.
Adding to the potential for noise disturbance, the same reviewer mentioned the proximity of a train line and a highway located just across the river from the campground. Both were described as surprisingly loud, with a train passing by around 10 pm, which significantly disrupted their attempts to sleep and detracted from the desired peaceful camping atmosphere. For local campers sensitive to noise, this is an important factor to consider when evaluating Gadsden Campground & Tubing as a "camping near me" option.
Despite these challenges, the reviewer did highlight a positive aspect of their experience: the professionalism and understanding of the staff. When they encountered issues with their initial campsite lacking power, the staff reportedly allowed them to move to a different site and provided a refund for the inconvenience. This indicates a level of customer service and a willingness to address issues, which can be reassuring for potential visitors. This positive interaction with the staff suggests that while the physical environment might be undergoing changes, the customer service aspect remains a priority.
In contrast to the experience of ongoing construction and noise, another reviewer offered a glowing assessment of Gadsden Campground & Tubing. They praised Tonia and her staff for doing an "excellent job," describing them as friendly, serving, and always available to help. This reviewer specifically mentioned that their children love the tubing in the summer, highlighting this as a key feature and a great activity for the whole family. Furthermore, they commended the cleanliness of the showers, bathrooms, and laundry room and highly recommended the place for both camping and those interested in a tiny home community. This positive feedback suggests that the campground offers appealing features and services, particularly the tubing activity and the standard of cleanliness of its facilities, which are important considerations for families looking for "camping near me."
The mention of a "tiny home community" is an intriguing aspect of Gadsden Campground & Tubing. This suggests that the campground might host long-term residents in tiny homes in addition to offering traditional camping sites. For local users potentially interested in the tiny home lifestyle or simply curious about such communities, this could be an added dimension to the campground. It might foster a unique community atmosphere, although it's unclear how this interacts with the short-term camping experience.
Considering the environment of Gadsden Campground & Tubing, the reviews offer contrasting perspectives. The ongoing construction described by one reviewer suggests a potentially disrupted and less scenic environment in the short term. The "giant sandbox" description implies that some areas might be dusty and lack established vegetation. On the other hand, the campground's location along a river, despite the noise from the train and highway across it, could still offer some natural beauty and potential for riverside campsites. The proximity to Attalla and Gadsden also means that local amenities and attractions are likely within a reasonable driving distance.
The services offered at Gadsden Campground & Tubing appear to include standard campground amenities such as campsites with (at least some) power hookups, water access (as implied by the ability to move to a site with power), showers, bathrooms, and a laundry room. The positive review specifically mentions the cleanliness of these facilities, which is a significant factor for many campers when choosing a "camping near me" option. The availability of tubing as a recreational activity is a notable feature, suggesting that the campground is located near a suitable body of water for this activity, likely during the summer months as mentioned by the positive reviewer.
The features of Gadsden Campground & Tubing seem to be evolving due to the ongoing construction. Currently, potential features include access to tubing, clean restroom and laundry facilities, and a potentially friendly and helpful staff. However, the construction might temporarily limit the availability or appeal of other potential features that were present in the past (as suggested by the discrepancy with online pictures). The presence of a tiny home community could also be considered a unique feature of this campground.
Currently, there is no explicit promotional information provided for Gadsden Campground & Tubing. However, the positive review serves as an indirect promotion, highlighting the enjoyable tubing experience for families and the cleanliness of the facilities. For local users interested in potential promotions, seasonal rates for camping or tubing, or any special offers related to the tiny home community, it would be best to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Checking local camping platforms or social media pages associated with the campground might also reveal any ongoing promotions or updates regarding the construction status.
In conclusion, Gadsden Campground & Tubing offers a location in Attalla, Alabama, with the unique feature of on-site tubing activities, particularly appealing to families. While one recent review highlights significant ongoing construction that may impact the camping experience with noise and a less appealing environment, another review praises the friendly and helpful staff and the cleanliness of the facilities. The mention of a tiny home community adds another dimension to this campground. For local users searching for "camping near me," it is crucial to consider the potential impact of the construction and the proximity to the train and highway, while also acknowledging the positive feedback regarding staff and amenities like tubing and clean facilities. Direct communication with the campground is recommended to get the most up-to-date information on the construction status and any available services or promotions before making a decision.

Gadsden Campground & Tubing Reviews
My family and I stayed at this campground in April and unfortunately, our experience didn’t match the expectations set by the pictures on Google or their website. It was clear once we arrived that the campground is under major construction, but we were not informed about this ahead of time. Many of the amenities and areas looked run down or in disrepair, and there was a constant flow of construction trucks, loud noise, and what felt like a giant sandbox surrounding the campsites. To add to that, the train and highway are right across the river, and both were surprisingly loud — especially the train that would pass through around 10pm while we were trying to sleep. It really disrupted the peaceful camping experience we were hoping for. Some sites were also without power, though we do appreciate that the staff was understanding, allowed us to move, and refunded us for the inconvenience — that part was handled professionally.Overall, had we known what the actual conditions were like, we probably would have chosen a different place. Hopefully, these updated details and photos help others make a more informed decision.
Apr 15, 2025 · Kimberly RaeTonia and her staff do an excellent job!! Friendly, serving and always available to help. Our kids love the tubing in the summer. It’s a great place for the whole family! Showers, bathrooms and laundry room are always clean. Highly recommend this place for camping and anyone looking for a tiny home community.

Apr 26, 2025 · Tara WorkmanI was looking for a tubing location that offered camping. The internet directed me to Big Wills. I’d never heard of it but it offered all that I needed. My friend and I booked a little cabin for two nights. Because of work and the 75 minute commute, we would be arriving around 9pm. I called ahead of time and explained. The owner, a doll of a southern woman, made accommodations for our late check in and had the AC running in our cabin when we arrived. My GPS directed us there with long, dark back roads. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. When we woke up the next morning with sunlight, we discovered we were camping right on the water and breakfast options were only 5 minutes away. The shuttle for tubing is a large trailer with wrap around seating and plenty of space for floats pulled by a truck. Very nice. The walk in (and take out) for the water is an easy one and the water itself was refreshingly cold, yet slow and steady. No falls, no rushing, no massive boulders to dodge. The float itself takes about an hour and we went again and again until the sun started to set. On a Saturday evening, it was not crowded at all and there was never an issue of finding quiet. In fact, the last time I went, I was completely alone on the river. Absolutely peaceful. The evening wrapped up with 90s country karaoke on the covered back patio of the main building with a small crowd of very welcoming and friendly campers and staff. Feeling recharged from life, we packed up and headed home the next morning. I got home, and immediately made more reservations. My grandmother has been wanting to go tubing and I know this is the place to take her. The water does not cause me any concern for her safety here, and the slow pace of life and sense of community just sealed the deal for me. 10/10 recommend this place. But not to too many folks. I like the solitude out there!
Aug 25, 2024 · Amber BowlinWe went tubing with my friend & her kids and had a blast. Very friendly staff & useful shuttle feature for getting down to the creek & back to the starting point or parking lotoffice area when finished. The price of admission is a little bit too high to do very often if on a budget like most families. $12.99 daily admission cost per person plus cost of each person's inner tube at a cost of up to 9.99 each. But a beautiful place to spend your time! It's incredibly peaceful out there so go check em out at least one time to see for yourselves!
