Gibson Cove Campground Reviews
This has the potential to be an amazing campground with just a little TLC. The sites are pretty good and well spaced out. Lakeside obviously have beautiful views. We booked site 16 and found out setting up and after that nobody wants 16 🤣. Our view was pretty good except for the dead tree laying on our site. It’s definitely going to take leveling in this site. I actually had to dig some rock out and add leveling blocks on the opposite side to level our truck. Took about 20 minutes. The campground seems to be pretty quiet and our neighbors were respectful with noise and lighting. My biggest complaint here is the bath house. It was it is dirty! I understand they are old but take a broom or rag and wipe those bugs out of the shower. Fill up the hand towels and toilet paper…..had issues with both. Empty the trash cans daily please because I don’t care to look at old tampons and pads from 5 days plus. On the flip side showers are hot and good pressure. There is also a beautiful walking/biking trail out to the dam and extending thru Gibson Cove and Clay Recreation Campgrounds. I do want to say bath houses in the Clay Recreation Area were 80% better than Gibson Cove.
Apr 28, 2025 · Rhonda AstorWe loved our experience here at Gibson Cove Campground! The view from our lake view campsite was amazing. We also really enjoyed the amenities here such as free WiFi, picnic benches, fire pits, water & electric hookups, and a dump station. We also were able to have cell phone service in the campground. We felt safe during our stay because police would patrol the area.We wish the restrooms were more modernized. Restrooms only have one shower which is covered by a plastic shower curtain. I feel that it didn’t provide enough privacy when showering. Also there is no main office just a host but most of the time they weren’t there. There are no clear directions on the check-in process. When you arrive, just head directly to your spot. Overall, we had an amazing stay & we hope to return in the future!
Oct 19, 2024 · Milani AlvarezThis was our second time staying at this campground, and we are guaranteed to come back next year. This is one of the best campgrounds we've ever been to. The grounds are well maintained, the lake is beautiful, the scenery second to none, and everyone is always friendly. There's trails for walks (keep eyes out for deer spotting!), smallmouth bass and little sunfish to catch, and the bathrooms have a large shower. The front gate locks at 10pm which helped make it feel a little more safe. It's right next to Clay County RV campground, which has a playground and a sand "beach" that you can also enjoy.Ingles is a short drive away for anything you may need, Murphy is 20 min away with a cute downtown, Helen is about 40 min to spend a day visiting. But there's enough to do at campground to easily keep you occupied your entire visit. If you're looking for a getaway from big cities, a nice relaxing stay on a beautiful lake with maintain views in every direction, and a campground with all the amenities you could need, look no further than here.
Aug 02, 2023 · Courtney CarterThis campground is one of the best spots I've ever stayed at. Accommodates both RV and Pitch Tent campers. Sites are very well maintained, clear of debris & properly graveled. Treated for certain pest removals like yellow jackets. Fire pits, water, & electric provided. Sites are spaced out enough to offer privacy. Quiet & peaceful. Views of the woods & lake are gorgeous! Wonderful spot to swim, fish, and w/ boat access. Connects to a beautiful trail head. Easy commute to town for groceries and local businesses. I love this campground and can't wait to return.
Feb 23, 2023 · Shelby BryanWe have visited here with our motor home for years. It’s definitely a great place to escape the heat of Florida summer.Great for water sports and nature walks.Very convenient and the people are always kind.Note: They are strict with dogs and leashes even threatening to prosecute owners of loose animals with signs everywhere. It reminded us of what a crazy HOA board would post. 😂 it’s a little overboard.
