Grand Isle Campground Reviews
This place is amazing. The owner (George) who we met for the first time as we pulled in welcomed us. He was so friendly and so nice. He offered us FREE WiFi, FREE camp fire wood, and the most innovative fire pit system I have ever seen. George is a local that is a fantastic resource to find everything you want to visit in this area. Think of Grand Isle Campground for Muskee derby fishing, four corners park, first mile (route one "the other end" from Key West! He told us all the good places to visit for food and entertainment. Book with Grand Isle for the true local experience. This small campground has a zip line, a full size baseball park with loaner balls, gloves, and bats (ask George for the story about how he came to have it) Also, the campground is veteran owned.
Aug 08, 2019 · Tom MerrifieldThis is a beautiful little campground in the St. John River valley. I stayed here in August 2024. George, the owner, is very friendly and collects payment upon arrival. He led me to a little canopy under which I pitched my tent. The canopy did its job and kept me dry the whole night. He even provided me a fire ring and some wood for free. Unfortunately, a steady rain the day before and the morning of prevented a roaring fire, but no worries, free WiFi kept me entertained that night anyway. Bathrooms and showers are clean, though there could be a few more. This is a jewel of Acadia, and I even heard great praise about it from my waitress that night at Dolly's. Those journeying to the start/end of US Route 1 would be wise to spend the night at Maine's northernmost campground. You cannot do any better than this.
Aug 20, 2024 · Alex de la TorreNice small campground and the furthest north on the US East Coast. Mostly seasonal campers that are there on the weekends. All the campers are very friendly and welcoming. The owner George is great !!! He has all the knowledge on the area and is involved in everything in the area. George is always working to include his campers in the activities of the area and the campground. If you need to know anything about the area go to George and he will have the answers. Karaoke every Friday night at the campground which was well attended. We had a great time and felt very included by the locals. This was one campground that really felt like a community and George made it the most hospitable place we have ever stayed in over 60 other campgrounds. We camped at Grand Isle Campground in a 45’ Motorhome.
Sep 19, 2022 · Ricky SmithThis is by far the BEST hospitality my husband and I and 2 children have ever had at a campsite. We not only enjoyed the beautiful landscape and well maintained site but we really loved the location. Cool zip-line, large field for children to run and easy in and out with RV. Fire-pits mobile and amazing and let me not forget the Karaoke on the weekend. The lighting, the attention to detail and the personal touch are impeccable. We found the campsite to offer interesting activities, nice people and around the corner from St. John River where you can gaze at the beauty of Canada. If you are lucky you might spot a Moose. We also love the owner George, he is just the absolute best, full of wisdom, trustworthy and gave us hope in the best that America has to offer. George is personally invested in your enjoyment of the part and the area. Thank you and we will bet back!
Aug 26, 2020 · Ya Levy La'fordGreat place! My dad and I stayed here in June 2022 while we were on a 2500 mile trip across the North East. We stayed here because Madawaska was on my bucket list and George is one of the greatest hosts I have ever met! This was without a doubt the best placed we stayed throughout our trip that wasn’t in a National Forest. Thank you for everything George and we wish you all the best!
