Grumpy Bear Campground & Gem Mine Reviews
We stayed here for a week. It was wonderful to camp right next to the rushing river. We really enjoyed our time here. The owners were very helpful and friendly.Positives: the clean private bathrooms, the swings and places to enjoy the view, the full hook ups for campers. Loved the farmers market across the road and how close we were to both Bryson City and Cherokee.Negatives; the water smells really funky, we were very glad we brought our own drinking water and the campsites are super small, so small that even our outdoor rug didn’t fit on the site.We will definitely be back!!!
Apr 28, 2025 · Jamie WilhelmDon’t pass this place up. It is awesome. Ended up staying there one night beginning of January and came back a week later for another two nights stay. I usually camp off grid but I couldn’t pass this place up. I don’t know which was better the bathrooms or the campground. The bathrooms are so spotless you could eat breakfast lunch and dinner in there and do a load of laundry while you have a nice hot shower. This place has so much to offer . don’t let the name fool, you Mr. and Mrs. Grumpy were the nicest people you could ever meet. I will definitely be back.
Jan 20, 2025 · Shawn HaynesWe stayed in a small camper with a roof top tent in December. The location is great and close to town. The bath house is nice and heated with hot showers. The owners were very accommodating for our needs when we arrived. Im definitely coming back when we visit in the fall. The creek is very relaxing and hardly any road noise from the cars passing by.
Dec 23, 2024 · Brooke WeckmannWe really enjoyed our three nights at the campground. The restrooms were very clean! And there were 6 to choose from. The park is just very quaint and the staff was wonderful. Very accommodating and did a great job recovering from effects of hurricane Heleen in time for our visit the following week. This is a great base camp location for the smokies and all the things to do I. The area. Will be back next year. :-) oh and they had no problem with us showing up with our little utility trailer conversion camper. All the big rig folks treated us the same.
Oct 14, 2024 · Scott CombsMe and my family absolutely loved our stay none of us even wanted to even go back home. It's really peaceful and super clean. So happy and will definitely be coming back very soon. The owner was extremely helpful as well
