You can reach them by phone at (800) 562-9497 or mobile at +1 800-562-9497. This campground boasts a prime location for those interested in exploring the rich history of the area, being very close to the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park and its key attractions.
Based on feedback from fellow campers in your local area, the Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA Holiday offers a significant advantage in terms of its proximity to historical sites. The visitor center for Harpers Ferry National Historic Park is conveniently located nearby, even within walking distance for those who enjoy a bit of exercise. This allows for easy access to explore the historic downtown area via a free bus service after paying the park entrance fee or presenting your pass. This unparalleled location makes it an ideal basecamp for delving into the Civil War battlefields and the historical significance of Harpers Ferry.
While the location is a major draw, some local campers have noted areas where the campground falls short of typical KOA standards. Several reviews mention that the campsites themselves can be quite close together, which may impact privacy and the feeling of spaciousness. Additionally, some sites are reported to be not level, potentially posing a challenge for setting up RVs and tents. Access to some sites has also been described as narrow, requiring careful maneuvering. Maintenance of the individual campsites is another area where some visitors felt improvement was needed, with mentions of untidy conditions and water runoff issues.
In terms of amenities, the campground does offer some perks that local users might appreciate. A pancake breakfast is available, providing a convenient start to your day. For families camping with children, there is a playground on-site to keep the little ones entertained. Other recreational options include a chess area. The camp store provides a place to purchase essential supplies and souvenirs. It's worth noting that the pillow bounce, another advertised amenity, was reported as being unavailable during at least one visitor's stay. The laundry room, while noted as being large, was also mentioned as being under renovation with some equipment out of order, suggesting potential future improvements.
The reception building and its landscaping have received positive comments, indicating a welcoming first impression upon arrival. However, some campers felt that the upkeep and landscaping of the individual camping areas did not match the standard set by the registration area. The availability of bathroom and shower facilities is another point to consider. One review mentioned only a single shared bathroom/shower for a particular area, which was described as untidy. This is an important factor for local campers to be aware of, especially during peak season when the campground may be busier.
Considering the category "camping near me," the Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA Holiday presents a trade-off. Its exceptional location provides unparalleled access to a significant historical site, making it a compelling option for those whose primary interest lies in exploring Harpers Ferry. The availability of basic amenities like a playground, camp store, and pancake breakfast adds some convenience to the camping experience. However, potential local users should be aware of the reported issues regarding campsite levelness, spacing, maintenance, and the limited number of bathroom/shower facilities in certain areas. These are important factors to weigh when considering this campground for your local camping needs.
For local campers seeking a convenient base to explore Harpers Ferry and its historical battlefields, this KOA Holiday offers a unique advantage. Despite some reported shortcomings in site quality and maintenance, its location remains a significant draw. If your priority is proximity to these attractions and you are prepared for potentially close quarters and uneven ground, this campground could serve as a suitable stopover or a base for your historical explorations. It's advisable to inquire about the specific site you will be allocated and the status of amenities like the laundry room when making your reservation. Keep in mind the feedback from other local campers regarding the overall quality compared to typical KOA standards to set your expectations accordingly.
In conclusion, the Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA Holiday, while receiving mixed reviews regarding campsite quality and maintenance, stands out due to its exceptional location near the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park. For local users prioritizing access to this historical landmark, the campground offers a convenient option with some basic amenities. However, it is recommended to consider the feedback from other campers regarding site conditions and bathroom facilities when making your decision. This campground, despite its drawbacks, might be the "only game in town" for those specifically seeking camping in close proximity to Harpers Ferry's historical treasures.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA Holiday Reviews
Great location but not KOA quality! Very close to the Harper’s Ferry historic sites and nice reception building however the sites are lacking. They are extremely close together, not level and aren’t maintained. Access to the sites is challenging as the they are narrow. Privacy is lacking and fire pits are close to neighbors. Only 1 bathroom/shower shared for our whole area and it was untidy. Registration building is landscaped and everywhere else was mediocre. There were also issues with water runoff. The pancake breakfast, playground, chess, and camp store were perks and the pillow bounce wasn’t open during our visit. It’s fine for a stopover as it’s the only game in town.
Apr 26, 2025 · Christine PetersonIdeal location. Below KOA standards. We stayed here to visit Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, whose visitor center is right down the street and walkable if you're fit. Pay the park entrance fee or flash your pass and board a free bus to the historic downtown. This KOA sits on land with contours, but many similar RV parks manage their terrain more thoughtfully. Our gravel pull-through site could accommodate a Class A, but for our 25-foot-long rig, we could find no level space front to back or side to side. Also, the sites, at least in this section, are ridiculously close together, and many look junky, with the belongings of occupants scattered on the site. (see photo.) The laundry room, one of the largest I've encountered, appears to be under renovation, a good thing; most of the equipment was out of order.
Apr 14, 2025 · Sandy WhiteThere is always stuff to do at KOAs This KOA had a wine testing, movie nigh and $1 pancackes. The staff was very friendly. The location was close to shops, grocery stores and food. It was very buggy which made it hard to sit outside. The sites are very close togetherIt looked like the 50 amp section was nicer than the tent and 30 amp area, our roads were terrible, not paved at all. Their laundry room was large however most of the machines didn't work, not sure if the dryers did either, it cost $2 to dry 1 sheet. They did have WiFi but it wasn't a good connection or work half the time.
Apr 28, 2025 · Babetta KeeganAwesome place to go. Lot of stuff to do they even have a movie theater and movie night. The store and movie theater are combine together. The store has a lot of stuff that are very useful. Swimming pool game building to hang out in. Very nice place to spend your vacation. I would highly recommend this to everyone. The staff are awesome and very helpful and nice 👍 service was awesome.
Mar 15, 2025 · Joan SearsGreat location. Convenient access to Harper's Ferry and other local shops. On-site store is reasonably priced and facilities are clean. The breakfasts offered by the kitchen are great and cheaply priced.
