High Bluff Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Midway, Florida area, and those searching within the "camping near me" category who appreciate a more rustic and tranquil outdoor experience, High Bluff Campground offers a primitive camping option. Located at 2725 High Bluff Landing Rd, Midway, FL 32343, USA, this campground is described by visitors as "very quiet" and "peaceful," making it an attractive destination for those seeking a respite from the noise and bustle of everyday life. However, it is crucial for potential local users to note that this is a primitive campground with specific limitations regarding amenities.
Based on the available customer reviews, the environment of High Bluff Campground is characterized by its tranquility and natural beauty. The term "primitive campground" is reinforced by a reviewer explicitly stating, "No water or electricity." This indicates that campers should be fully self-sufficient and prepared to handle their water and power needs independently. For some, like the "Alaskan motorcycle campers" mentioned, this level of self-reliance is precisely the appeal, offering an unadulterated connection with nature. The "beautiful place to camp" descriptor further suggests a scenic setting that contributes to the overall peaceful atmosphere.
However, one reviewer pointed out that "some of the campsites are small and close together." This is an important consideration for local users who value privacy during their camping trips. The reviewer suggests that if privacy is a priority, it might be advisable to "reserve a couple of spaces." This implies that the campground layout may vary, with some sites offering more seclusion than others. Local users planning a visit should inquire about the size and spacing of campsites when making reservations to ensure their comfort and desired level of privacy.
Regarding services and features, the primary characteristic of High Bluff Campground, as indicated by the reviews, is its primitive nature. The absence of water and electricity is a key feature that distinguishes it from more developed campgrounds. Additionally, one reviewer noted that "no showers" are available, although they also mentioned that having showers in the future would be a "plus." This lack of on-site water and shower facilities reinforces the need for campers to be fully prepared and self-contained. It also suggests that the focus of High Bluff Campground is on providing a natural camping experience with minimal infrastructure.
Despite the limited amenities, the campground is described as "clean," which is a significant positive aspect for any camping location. Maintaining cleanliness in a primitive setting often requires more effort from both the campground management and the campers themselves, so this feedback is noteworthy for local users who prioritize hygiene. The quiet and peaceful environment, coupled with the cleanliness, seems to be the primary draws of High Bluff Campground for those who appreciate a more basic camping experience.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who are experienced in primitive camping or are looking to try a more secluded and self-sufficient form of camping, High Bluff Campground offers a potentially ideal location. The quiet and peaceful environment can be a significant advantage for those seeking relaxation and immersion in nature without the distractions of more developed campgrounds. The beauty of the location, while not explicitly detailed, contributes to its appeal as a place to camp.
However, it is crucial for local users accustomed to campgrounds with standard amenities like water, electricity, and showers to fully understand the primitive nature of High Bluff Campground before planning a visit. Proper preparation for water sourcing, waste disposal, and power needs (if required) is essential for a comfortable and responsible camping experience here.

Inquiring about campsite availability, especially if privacy is a concern, is also recommended. As a primitive campground, the pricing structure might differ from campgrounds with more extensive amenities, and it would be wise to confirm these details beforehand.
In conclusion, High Bluff Campground near Midway, Florida, offers a very quiet and peaceful primitive camping experience for local users searching for "camping near me" who are comfortable with a lack of on-site water and electricity. Its natural beauty and tranquility are highly valued by those who have stayed there. However, potential visitors should be aware that some campsites may be close together, and there are no shower facilities. For local campers seeking a back-to-nature experience without the usual campground amenities, High Bluff Campground provides a clean and serene option in the Midway area. High Bluff Campground Reviews
Very quiet primitive campground. No water or electricity. Just the way we Alaskan motorcycle campers like it.
Dec 18, 2024 · bill carBeautiful place to camp, very peaceful. Some of the campsites are small and close together, so ya may want to reserve a couple of spaces if you like privacy. No showers (we knew this ahead of time) available and that would definitely be a plus for the future! Overall it was clean and quiet!

Mar 19, 2025 · JenniferAwesome campsite. No running water.. has an outhouse. We had squatters at the campsite when arriving.. so the park ranger doesn't check daily. be wary of this. Great location, only 20 min from a Walmart.
Jan 04, 2025 · Alfred RobertsIt's a very quite place to overnight but be aware cause there's no bathroom, no water, no electricity, no dumpster station, and the tables and grills are all rot and cover by spiderweb. It is a very primitive campground. However my wife and I had a good time over there.
