Hall Landing Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Tallahassee, Florida area? Hall Landing Campground, located in Tallahassee, FL 32310, USA, offers a lakeside setting that has garnered mixed but informative reviews from recent campers. If you're a local user seeking a tent camping experience with scenic views and lake access, here’s what you should know based on the available feedback.
Environment: Hall Landing Campground boasts a notably scenic view of the lake, which is a significant positive aspect highlighted by reviewers. The campground is described as nicely shaded, suggesting a comfortable environment, especially during warmer Florida months. There are also mentions of planted native plants that are expected to enhance the beauty of the area as they mature. The presence of a boardwalk next to the lake is noted, although one reviewer found it to be quite short. The campground also provides easy access to a boat ramp and a couple of short piers, making it appealing for those interested in lake activities. Keep an eye out for local wildlife; one camper even spotted a piebald squirrel on the road to the campground! While generally described as a nice location, it's worth noting that one reviewer mentioned encountering poison ivy around a lakeside bench, so caution is advised in certain areas.
Services: The campground provides essential amenities for campers. Each site is equipped with fire rings and picnic tables, which are appreciated by visitors. The availability of hot water in the showers is also a plus. However, some areas for improvement were noted. One reviewer found the bathroom cleanliness to be less than ideal, mentioning bug debris on walls, floors, and the counter, which they found typical for public restrooms in the area but less desirable for personal hygiene routines. Additionally, the bathroom lacked a mirror. The shower facilities, while offering hot water, were noted to be missing shelves or hooks inside the shower stalls, and the only hook was on the door. There was no seat inside the shower, though a bench was available outside the stalls, positioned without a sightline barrier from the entry door. The handicap shower utilized a lawn chair as a seat, despite having ADA-compliant faucets. Furthermore, electrical outlets appear to be very limited, with none available in the bathroom or at the campsites themselves, requiring campers to be fully self-sufficient with their electrical needs, aside from what the host uses. The campground host was described by one reviewer as "mostly unavailable," with an initial difficulty in checking in.
Features: The standout features of Hall Landing Campground include its scenic lake views and the provided site equipment like fire rings and picnic tables. The easy access to a boat ramp and short piers caters to those interested in boating and fishing. The shaded campsites and the ongoing establishment of native plants contribute to a pleasant natural setting. The boardwalk, though short, offers a lakeside stroll. However, potential campers should be aware of the limitations mentioned, such as the bathroom facilities, lack of electrical outlets, and the need for self-sufficiency in this regard. The piebald squirrel sighting adds a touch of unique local wildlife. While one reviewer found the short boardwalk disappointing compared to their expectations, the overall access to the lake remains a key feature.
Promotional Information: Based on the reviews, there isn't specific promotional information available. However, the "great price for tent campers" mentioned by one reviewer suggests that the campground might offer budget-friendly rates, which could be appealing to local users looking for an affordable "camping near me" option. Another reviewer described the campground as "beautiful, peaceful, and clean," and praised the "amazing" camp hosts and "nice" showers, offering a contrasting positive perspective. To get the most accurate information on current pricing, availability, and any potential discounts for local residents, it would be best to check with the managing authorities of Hall Landing Campground directly. Keep in mind the mixed feedback regarding bathroom cleanliness and host availability when making your decision. If you prioritize scenic lake views and basic camping amenities at a potentially good price, Hall Landing Campground could be a local option to consider.
In summary, Hall Landing Campground in Tallahassee offers a lakeside setting with scenic views, shaded campsites, and amenities like fire rings and picnic tables. Access to a boat ramp and piers is a plus for water enthusiasts. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with bathroom cleanliness, the lack of mirrors and shelving in the showers, and the absence of electrical outlets at the campsites. The availability of the campground host might also be a consideration. Despite these drawbacks, the beautiful location and potentially affordable pricing could make it a viable option for local tent campers. The positive experience of another reviewer highlights that some visitors find the campground "beautiful, peaceful, and clean" with "amazing" camp hosts and "nice" showers, indicating that experiences can vary.
For local Tallahassee residents seeking "camping near me" with lake access, Hall Landing Campground presents a choice with both appealing natural aspects and areas that some campers have found less than ideal. Weighing the scenic beauty and basic amenities against the reported shortcomings in bathroom facilities and electrical availability will be key in deciding if this campground meets your needs. Hall Landing Campground Reviews
This sounded like a great spot at a great price for tent campers. It was a nice location, but things were less than ideal. The good: View of lake is scenic! Nice shaded campground with some planted native plants that will be a bonus as they establish. The fire rings, picnic tables, and site equipment were nice. The shower water was hot. There is a boardwalk next to the lake, but it's very short, so it's not what I had envisioned. Easy access to a boat ramp and a couple of short piers. I saw a piebald squirrel on the road to the campground! The not so good: The bathroom isn't cleaned well, and not daily. There was bug debris on the walls, floors, and counter ( which did seem typical for other public restrooms in the area, but this is where I'm brushing my teeth each day). There was no mirror at all. I had to use the visor mirror in my car. The shower had plenty of hot water, but there were no shelves or hooks to hold anything in the shower. There was one hook to hold your clothes or bag on the door, but no seat to set things on or get changed inside the shower stall. There was a bench outside the stalls, but it was next to the entry door, with no sightline barrier. The handicap shower used a lawn chair as a seat, but the faucets were ADA. The campground host seemed mostly unavailable. When we knocked to check in, he didn't answer, and then 10 minutes later, we saw he was outside and caught up with him. I didn't expect an outlet at the site, but I thought I'd find one in the bathroom or on a wall. Other than what the host is plugged into, there are no outlets anywhere. You must be fully self-sufficient with any electric needs you may have. The lakeside bench I tried to use had poison ivy all around it.I'm not upset that I used this campground, but I'm glad it was only for a couple of days, and I'll try a different one next time.

Mar 13, 2025 · Jesse SwiftMe and my wife were coming to scope of the camping site and to camp out there and went to use the restroom and shower and my wife felt unsafe using the shower on the woman's side due to the fact there is people living permanently on the woman's side with their own trail to the women's bathroom and their site where they camped out was behind the woman's bathroom and they had two RVs makeshift tents and canopies with tarps and look like Sanford and son out there so she use the shower on the men's side where I was at no customer service at all and felt unsafe due to the fact of the living terrain and condition they have put up behind the woman's showers the man was sitting there smoking a cigarettes with his wife looking at us the the place is a recreation and Park area we were practically pushed out by the people that were allowed to live there permanently. Will not be returning to this place
