This is a nice campground in the state park. There are bathrooms with showers available which were always clean- the hosts here do a great job. My family of five spent two nights at the park in the Cracker Cabin, which at $50 a night is a nice option. Usually we tent camp, but this time we wanted a different experience and this fit the bill nicely, especially with the expected rain (though it actually stayed dry the entire trip). The cabin has two rooms with a covered and screened breezeway between them. There are two sets of bunk beds in the one room and a double bed in the other. There was a window AC in both rooms, but I don't think it would keep up very well in the summer. We didn't need it though this time of year. There are 30 sites in the campground with most people using RV's. The sites are pretty small. The area though is very beautiful and we would return. - Michael York

Weeping Ridge Campground Introduce

Are you looking for a serene camping experience nestled within the natural beauty of a Florida State Park? Consider Weeping Ridge Campground, located at 2576 NW Torreya Park Rd, Bristol, FL 32321, USA. As a featured option under the 'camping near me' category, Weeping Ridge Campground offers a tranquil retreat within the renowned Torreya State Park. For inquiries or reservations, you can contact them at the toll-free number (800) 326-3521 or the mobile-friendly number +1 800-326-3521.

Based on visitor feedback, Weeping Ridge Campground is a well-maintained and pleasant camping destination within the state park. One recurring positive comment is the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities, including showers, which are consistently noted to be well-kept thanks to the dedicated campground hosts. The hosts are praised for their excellent service, contributing to a positive overall camping experience.

Accommodation Options: Campsites and the Cracker Cabin:

While the campground primarily caters to RV campers with approximately 30 sites, it also offers options for tent camping. It's worth noting that some reviewers mentioned the campsites being "pretty small," so if you have a particularly large RV or prefer significant space between sites, it might be beneficial to inquire about site dimensions or availability of larger spots when making your reservation. However, the beauty of the surrounding area compensates for any perceived lack of spaciousness on individual sites.

For those seeking an alternative to traditional tent or RV camping, Weeping Ridge Campground offers a unique accommodation option: the Cracker Cabin. One family of five enjoyed a two-night stay in the cabin, highlighting it as a "nice option" at $50 per night. This cabin features two separate rooms connected by a covered and screened breezeway. One room is equipped with two sets of bunk beds, while the other contains a double bed, comfortably sleeping up to six people. Both rooms have a window air conditioning unit, although one visitor noted potential limitations of the AC during the peak summer heat. For cooler times of the year, like their February visit, the AC was not needed, and the cabin provided a comfortable and dry shelter, which was particularly appreciated given the forecast of rain that thankfully never materialized.

Facilities and Services:

The availability of clean bathrooms with showers is a significant amenity at Weeping Ridge Campground, contributing to a more comfortable camping experience, especially for longer stays. Additionally, the presence of laundry facilities at the bathhouse adds another layer of convenience for campers, allowing them to refresh their clothes during their visit. These essential services ensure that while you are immersed in nature, basic needs are well taken care of.

The Tranquil Environment and Natural Beauty:

A consistent theme in the reviews is the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of Weeping Ridge Campground. If you are looking to escape the noise and crowds of more commercial campgrounds, this state park setting offers a welcome respite. The beauty of Torreya State Park itself is a major draw, with visitors repeatedly mentioning the scenic surroundings and natural charm of the area. This makes Weeping Ridge an ideal base for exploring the park's diverse flora and fauna.

Recreational Activities: Hiking and Limited Biking:

For outdoor enthusiasts, Weeping Ridge Campground provides access to hiking trails within Torreya State Park. The park is known for its unique and varied terrain, offering opportunities for scenic walks and more challenging hikes. One reviewer specifically mentioned "hiking" as an available activity, suggesting that the campground serves as a convenient starting point for exploring the park's trail system. Biking opportunities, however, appear to be somewhat limited to the park roads, as off-road biking on trails was not mentioned. Therefore, if hiking is a primary interest, Weeping Ridge Campground offers a great advantage.

Considerations Before Booking:

While the overall sentiment towards Weeping Ridge Campground is positive, potential visitors should be aware of a few points mentioned in the reviews. The smaller size of some campsites might be a factor for those with larger RVs or a preference for more space. It is advisable to inquire about campsite dimensions or even try to view a campground map before making a reservation, if possible, to ensure the site meets your needs. One reviewer suggested checking out the site before reserving, implying that some sites might be closer together than others.

The mention of window AC units in the Cracker Cabin and a concern about their effectiveness in peak summer heat is also something to consider if you are planning a stay during the hottest months. For spring and fall visits, however, the cabin appears to offer a comfortable and convenient alternative to traditional camping.

In Conclusion:

For local users searching within the 'camping near me' category for a peaceful and well-maintained campground with clean facilities and access to natural beauty, Weeping Ridge Campground in Torreya State Park is an excellent choice. Whether you prefer RV camping, tent camping, or the unique experience of staying in the Cracker Cabin, Weeping Ridge offers a tranquil escape. The availability of clean bathrooms with showers and laundry facilities adds to the convenience, while the proximity to hiking trails allows for exploration of the stunning Torreya State Park. While some campsites may be smaller, the overall beauty and quiet atmosphere of the campground, coupled with the helpful hosts, make it a highly recommended destination for a relaxing and nature-filled getaway.
