We arrived late on a Thursday evening to our campsite. Camp host Christopher quickly came over to welcome us, provide us the shower code, give us a run down of beach access and let us know where he was at. The spaces are large and besides the multiple trains passing by in the night, it was very quiet amongst the campers that night. The bathrooms/showers while are new, desperately need a broom or hose 9n the outside and very very over run with cobwebs, dust and little bug nests all over the doors and ceiling which was intimidating to our kids and a tall spouse who had to duck under webs. I took a broom to them to improve the situation but they could use some additional attention. Inside as well had lots and lots of bugs in varying states of animation and decomposition all over the ceiling and in corners. Water pressure and temperature range was great. We are in site #5 and the fire pit doesn’t have a grate/metal grilling surface like other sites do but we will manage. The beach is nice however, there is a big sign that says no pets and multiple people ignored which is unfortunate because the sand was INCREDIBLY hot and I worry for the pups paws and blatant disregard for the sign by their humans. Couple of people smoking a joint on the shore wasn't cool around all the kids.Quiet hours after 10pm weren’t followed the first night a very very large group was up partying till 1am. They were talked to and were quieter the next night but still up past midnight which is super frustrating and disrespectful to other campers. - Alyse Wecker

Home Valley Campground Introduce

Looking for a camping experience near you in the Stevenson, Washington area? Home Valley Campground, located at 302 Home Valley Park Rd, Stevenson, WA 98648, USA, offers a destination with stunning natural beauty and a reputation for friendly, helpful camp hosts. You can reach them at (509) 427-3910 or +1 509-427-3910 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground presents a mix of positive aspects, such as spacious sites and dedicated staff, alongside some areas where improvements could enhance the overall camping experience for those searching within the "camping near me" category.

The environment surrounding Home Valley Campground is consistently praised for its "STUNNINGLY beautiful" scenery. While the specific natural features aren't exhaustively detailed, the proximity to Stevenson, Washington, suggests that campers can expect to be near the scenic wonders of the Columbia River Gorge. This region is known for its dramatic landscapes, including towering cliffs, lush forests, and the majestic Columbia River itself. The campground also boasts "beach access," indicating that campers have the opportunity to enjoy the shores of a nearby body of water, although the specific type of beach (river, lake, etc.) isn't mentioned. This beach area seems to be a significant draw, offering a place for relaxation and potentially water-related activities.

In terms of services, Home Valley Campground appears to prioritize guest experience with its "very friendly and helpful" camp hosts. One reviewer specifically mentioned a warm welcome upon late arrival, along with essential information such as the shower code and beach access details. The campground offers "large" campsites, providing ample space for campers to set up comfortably. Additionally, "bathrooms and showers" are available and noted as "newer." While the water pressure and temperature range in the showers were appreciated, a recurring issue highlighted in a review is the cleanliness of these facilities, specifically mentioning a significant accumulation of cobwebs, dust, and bug nests both inside and outside. This suggests that while the facilities are relatively new, the upkeep in terms of cleanliness could be improved.

Features of Home Valley Campground include the aforementioned beach access, which, despite its appeal, has some noted issues. A "big sign" indicating "no pets" was observed, but multiple campers reportedly ignored this rule, leading to concerns about the hot sand potentially harming pets' paws and a general disregard for posted regulations. Another concern raised regarding the beach area was some individuals smoking marijuana in the presence of children, which was deemed "not cool." These observations suggest that while the beach is a positive feature, adherence to rules and consideration for fellow campers could be areas needing attention.

The campground also offers fire pits at the campsites. However, one reviewer in site #5 noted that their fire pit lacked a "grate/metal grilling surface" present at other sites. While they indicated they would manage, this inconsistency in amenities across different campsites is something to be aware of when booking. The presence of a "ball field and playground" is also mentioned, although one review suggests they "could use updates." This indicates that while recreational facilities exist, their condition might not be optimal.

One of the more significant drawbacks mentioned in the reviews is the issue of noise, specifically from "multiple trains passing by in the night." While one reviewer noted that it was otherwise "very quiet amongst the campers" on their first night, the train noise is a factor that light sleepers might want to consider. Additionally, the enforcement of "quiet hours after 10 pm" was inconsistent during one reviewer's stay, with a "very very large group" partying until 1 am on the first night. While they were spoken to and were quieter the following night, they still stayed up past midnight, causing frustration for other campers. This suggests that while quiet hours are in place, their enforcement might not always be strict.

Despite these drawbacks, Home Valley Campground has a significant positive aspect: the dedicated and caring camp hosts. One reviewer explicitly stated that "what makes this campground great is that it has clearly been well maintained by people who really care about it." The hosts are described as "very friendly and helpful" and also "very protective of the park and us campers." This strong positive feedback about the staff suggests a commitment to the campground and the well-being of its visitors, which can greatly enhance the overall camping experience. The reviewer even referred to the campground as a "precious gem" and encouraged others to take care of it.

Currently, no specific promotional information or seasonal discounts are mentioned in the provided reviews. Campgrounds often have varying rates depending on the time of year, day of the week, and the type of campsite. To inquire about any potential promotions or to get detailed information about pricing and availability, it is recommended to contact Home Valley Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Their friendly hosts would likely be able to provide the most up-to-date information on any special offers or discounts that might be available for local users or during specific times of the year.

In conclusion, Home Valley Campground near Stevenson, Washington, offers a camping experience with stunning natural beauty and exceptionally friendly camp hosts. The campground features spacious sites and newer bathrooms and showers, although cleanliness in the latter could be improved. Beach access is a notable amenity, but adherence to rules regarding pets and respectful behavior among campers appears to be an area for potential improvement. Noise from passing trains and occasional issues with the enforcement of quiet hours are also factors to consider. Despite these drawbacks, the positive feedback regarding the dedicated staff and the beautiful scenery suggests that Home Valley Campground can be a "precious gem" for those seeking "camping near me" in the Columbia River Gorge area, provided they are aware of and prepared for these considerations.
