Idyllwild Campground Introduce
Looking for exceptional "Camping Near Me" in a picturesque mountain setting with convenient access to town amenities? Idyllwild Campground, situated at 25905 CA-243, Idyllwild-Pine Cove, CA 92549, USA, offers a unique camping experience in the heart of the San Jacinto Mountains. You can reach them at (951) 659-2607 or +1 951-659-2607 for reservations and inquiries.
Based on recent customer reviews, Idyllwild Campground presents a compelling option for various types of campers, particularly those with electric vehicles and those who appreciate being within walking distance of town. One camper who stayed overnight in their Tesla Model Y highlighted the availability of electricity at spot 6, noting that they were pleased to find this amenity and even observed other EV owners at the campground. This suggests that Idyllwild Campground caters well to the growing number of electric vehicle enthusiasts looking for accessible charging options while enjoying the outdoors.
The availability of electrical hookups at certain sites, such as spot 6, is a significant feature for modern campers. As one reviewer detailed, these connections are suitable for both Level 1 and Level 2 EV chargers, allowing campers to conveniently charge their vehicles overnight or while exploring the nearby attractions, including hiking trails and the town of Idyllwild-Pine Cove. The campground's location within town is particularly advantageous for those who wish to combine their camping experience with easy access to local shops, restaurants, and other town amenities.
Beyond EV charging capabilities, Idyllwild Campground offers essential amenities that contribute to a comfortable camping experience. Reviewers specifically mentioned the availability of showers and running water for drinking and washing. These are often highly valued features for campers who prefer a more convenient setup compared to primitive camping. Knowing that these basic necessities are provided can enhance the overall enjoyment of a stay at Idyllwild Campground.
However, some aspects of the campground have received mixed feedback. One camper expressed concerns regarding the spacing of the campsites. They noted that while some spots, like site 5, offered more isolation, their assigned spot, site 6, was situated very close to site 7, where a truck and trailer camper were located. This proximity was described as feeling like "sharing your driveway with someone else," leading to a lack of desired privacy for a camper who had intended to be alone. This suggests that the spacing between sites may vary, and some sites might offer less seclusion than others.
Another point of disappointment for one reviewer was the unexpected fire ban. They reported that there was no mention of this restriction on the website or during the reservation process but were informed upon check-in that fires were not permitted. This was particularly surprising to the reviewer given the time of year (winter) and the snowy conditions, which significantly reduce the risk of wildfires. This lack of transparency regarding fire restrictions is something potential campers should be aware of and inquire about prior to their visit, especially if having a campfire is an integral part of their camping experience.
On the financial side, the price of $45 per spot was considered "not terrible" by one reviewer. This provides a general indication of the cost for camping at Idyllwild Campground, although prices may vary depending on the site, time of year, and other factors. It is advisable to confirm the current pricing when making a reservation.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the presence of a "nice trail to walk around the campground" that offers scenic views. Interestingly, one reviewer mentioned discovering "things left behind by Native Americans" along this trail, adding a unique historical and cultural dimension to the camping experience. This suggests that the area surrounding the campground has a rich history and offers opportunities for exploration beyond typical nature walks.
The location of Idyllwild Campground is consistently highlighted as a significant advantage. One reviewer noted its "Great location," mentioning a convenient 10-minute walk to the town of Idyllwild-Pine Cove, as well as its proximity to the nature center and other hiking trails. This accessibility to both town amenities and natural attractions makes Idyllwild Campground an appealing base for those who want to explore the local area without having to drive extensively.
Considering the feedback, Idyllwild Campground offers a decent camping experience with notable advantages, particularly for EV owners and those seeking proximity to town and hiking trails. The availability of electricity, showers, and running water adds to the convenience. However, potential campers should be mindful of the potential for closely spaced campsites and the possibility of fire restrictions, which may not be explicitly stated during the reservation process. To ensure a satisfactory experience, it is recommended to inquire about site availability and spacing preferences, as well as any current fire regulations, before finalizing a booking.
In conclusion, for those searching for "Camping Near Me" in the Idyllwild-Pine Cove area, Idyllwild Campground presents a well-located option with specific benefits such as EV charging and easy access to town and nature. While the price appears reasonable, potential campers should proactively seek information regarding campsite spacing and fire policies to align their expectations with the campground's offerings. The presence of a nature trail with potential historical significance adds an interesting element to the overall camping experience. By being well-informed and communicating their preferences upon booking, visitors can likely enjoy a pleasant stay at Idyllwild Campground and take advantage of its prime location and available amenities.

Idyllwild Campground Reviews
Nice area to camp at. I took my Tesla Model Y to camp in overnight and was glad to have spot 6 with electricity. I saw two other Model Y cars when I went too, so I guess I’m not as alone as I thought I was in doing this.A few spots like spot 6 have electricity hookups and are decently spaced. Attached are pictures to show the connections and the size with my vehicle parked in it. The available connections are great for EV campers! You can bring your Level 1/2 chargers and charge your EV here without worry either while you stay the night or if you plan to go hiking nearby or walking through the town. The campground is seated in town, so this is perfect spot for this sort of planning.I was glad to see that showers were available as were running water for drinking and washing.I wasn’t really thrilled with the spacing of the sites. Site 5 was more isolated than 6 was with my spot at 6 being directly next to 7 where a truck and trailer camper were seated. It’s like sharing your driveway with someone else, almost. Just too close for my comfort where I planned to be alone.I also was not expecting to not be able to set a fire. There didn’t seem to be any mention of this on the website or when making my reservation but I was told this when checking in. I’m also not sure why they banned fires at this time of year in winter where it was literally snowing. The chances of a wildfire occurring are very low, if at all.The price for the spot was $45 which wasn’t terrible either. There was a nice trail to walk around the campground with some nice scenery, even things left behind by Native Americans, which was cool to see.All in all, it’s a decent place and I’d recommend, but would recommend checking in to see what’s available before making your reservation to ensure you’re getting what you want and also knowing where your spot will be depending on what you’d like for your getaway.
Feb 22, 2025 · Nate H.Great location, 10 minute walk to town and close to the nature center, and other hiking trails.
May 03, 2025 · isaias castellanosReally enjoyed my stay at this unique campsite minutes from the cute village center. I got to camp amongst pine trees with lots of shade everywhere. The campsite is noticeably cooler than the city, prob due to the trees. The restrooms are sparking clean super well functioning with all hanging hooks intact and even a paper towel dispenser - the first time I’ve seen this in a state park restroom! The shower requires their own tokens, which are different from other parks however, one token $1 gives you five minutes, which is well sufficient for a good shower. The Silver tokens from other state parks will not work here! Now some caveats: it is noisy in the scamp side as there is a road that circles it so you can hear an occasional car at night. Some sites for example 18, 19, 24,25.. are close to each other so you might get to be next to a large family.I had the fortune of getting site 20, where you park your car and then you hike up the hill to the campsite that overlooks a creek and a small second bridge. Unfortunately, I had to haul all my stuff up and down this hill taking about five trips each due to my midsize, lots of equipment and a dog. However, I had a great experience. Also expect to encounter bugs, such as flies and gnats and a few mosquitoes so come prepared in the summer. It’s a seven minute walk to the village center and some coffee shops as well as some really good restaurants. They have all sorts of events going on here in the summer. I haven’t got to meet the city mayor Max the dog who visited the campsites! It was a short drive to the brewpub, which I highly recommend visiting when you are in town.
Jun 16, 2024 · Taufiq HabibIdyllwild Campground is a gem nestled amidst nature's beauty, offering a pristine and well-maintained haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground's cleanliness and attention to detail are evident throughout, from the immaculate bathrooms to the thoughtfully provided fire pits and lock boxes for added convenience and security. Each site boasts dedicated parking, ensuring easy access for campers. The serene surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation and outdoor adventures. With such excellent amenities and a tranquil atmosphere, it's no wonder I'll be eagerly returning to Idyllwild Campground for future escapes into nature.
Feb 26, 2024 · Olga LonskaAs a beginner camper, my first experience at this campsite was truly remarkable. Despite arriving during a winter storm, we opted for campsite 4 with an electricity hookup, which worked well for car camping in Tesla. Even though we had to shovel our way into the site, the snowy scenery added to the surreal beauty of the location, especially considering it's only an hour and a half drive from LA.The campground itself was great, with a surprising level of quietness even though it's near the main road, this could be due to the weather conditions, but regardless, campground had clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and a ranger who periodically drove around the campground which made us felt safe.We definitely plan on returning during a warmer season to take advantage of the hiking trails and bask in the natural scenery once again.
