Keesler AFB FamCamp Introduce
Are you searching for an affordable and conveniently located camping option near Biloxi, Mississippi? If you're looking for "camping near me" that offers essential amenities and a friendly environment, Keesler AFB FamCamp, situated at 2003 Atkinson Rd, Biloxi, MS 39531, USA, might be the perfect choice for your next getaway. While primarily serving military families, this campground occasionally welcomes other RV travelers seeking a budget-conscious stay along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Based on feedback from fellow campers, Keesler AFB FamCamp fosters a welcoming and helpful community. One reviewer mentioned being a camp host for the summer and thoroughly enjoying the experience of meeting new campers and assisting them. This suggests a friendly and supportive atmosphere on the grounds, where both staff and fellow visitors contribute to a positive camping environment. The presence of camp hosts can be particularly beneficial for newcomers, providing a point of contact for information and assistance.
The campground offers practical amenities for RV travelers. Both pull-through and back-in sites are available, catering to different RV sizes and preferences. Each site is equipped with a concrete slab and a patio area, providing a stable and comfortable setup for your RV and an outdoor space to relax. Furthermore, all sites feature full hookups, including water, electricity, and sewer connections, ensuring a convenient and self-sufficient camping experience. While one review noted that the bathhouses are "somewhat dated," they were also described as clean, indicating that while not modern, they are well-maintained and functional for guests' needs.
For those traveling with families, Keesler AFB FamCamp provides several appealing features. Within walking distance of the campsites, guests can find an enclosed dog park, offering a safe and dedicated space for your furry companions to exercise and socialize off-leash. Additionally, there is a children’s park, providing a fun and engaging area for kids to play and burn energy. A particularly attractive feature, especially during the warmer Mississippi months, is the splash pad, which also includes covered picnic tables, allowing families to enjoy water play and then relax in the shade for a meal or snack.
While the campground generally receives positive recommendations, some practical considerations have been noted by visitors. One reviewer mentioned that their initial pull-in experience was "less than ideal" and that Wi-Fi was not available. This is important to keep in mind if reliable internet access is a priority for your stay. Another guest, traveling in a 40-foot RV, highlighted that the roads within the campground can be "pretty narrow" and that parked vehicles sometimes caused maneuvering challenges. They recommended that those with larger rigs specifically request slots circled on the map, as these are likely to have fewer obstructions. The staff and camp host were commended for being "very friendly and helpful" in assisting with maneuvering, which underscores the positive service despite the layout challenges for larger vehicles.
One of the standout features of Keesler AFB FamCamp is its affordability. A reviewer explicitly stated that at $26 per night, the campground was "worth the price." They contrasted this with the significantly higher cost of beachside slots at other parks, emphasizing the value proposition for budget-conscious travelers. For those on a fixed income or simply looking for a more economical camping option, Keesler AFB FamCamp presents a viable alternative, even if it means driving to the beach rather than staying directly on it.
It is worth noting a specific environmental factor mentioned by one guest: noise from a local train. This reviewer reported being woken up twice during the night by train horns. While their spouse did not hear the noise, light sleepers might want to be aware of this potential for nighttime disturbances. Bringing earplugs could be a simple solution for those who are sensitive to such sounds.
In summary, Keesler AFB FamCamp offers an affordable and amenity-rich camping experience near Biloxi. Its features, including full hookups, a dog park, a children’s park, and a splash pad with covered picnic tables, make it particularly appealing for families and RV travelers looking for value. The friendly staff and camp hosts contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. However, potential guests should be aware of the lack of Wi-Fi, potential maneuvering challenges for larger RVs, and the possibility of noise from a nearby train. For those prioritizing budget and essential amenities over beachfront access and modern facilities, Keesler AFB FamCamp provides a practical and enjoyable option for "camping near me" in the Biloxi area. Keesler AFB FamCamp Reviews
This is our second time at this park, and we truly enjoy it. We are currently the camp hosts for the summer and are having a great time meeting all the new campers and helping everyone out. The staff here is wonderful. The park has two bathhouses that are somewhat dated but clean. There are both pull-through and back-in sites available, and each site has a concrete slab and a patio, along with full hookups.
Apr 20, 2025 · Gary PrattOk so probably more like an 4.5 *. Our pull in was less than ideal and there is no WiFi , overall it was a quick and easy stopover on our way west. We did not access the restrooms or laundry so I can’t account for that.We were issued slot 47 and are in a 40’er. The roads are pretty narrow and there were vehicles parked all over the place. After having 2 owners move them we were able to swing into the slot. There were outside slots allotted to smaller rigs that could have easily parked into our slot without a problem. The staff and camp host were very friendly and helpful as we maneuvered in. That said, if you’re 40 ft or over, I recommend asking for the slots circled on the map photo as there would likely be no obstruction getting in.There is an enclosed dog park, children’s park and splash pad (which also has covered picnic tables) within walking distance.Would recommend and will be back if we are in the area. For $26 it was worth the price. You can get a beachside slot at another park for about a hundred bucks but well, being on a fixed income we will just drive the rig to the beach and hang out for a couple hours 😊Oh, I forgot to mention….I had 2 wake up calls from a local train. One at 9:30pm and one at 4:30 am. My hubby didn’t hear them but they woke me up 🚂
May 08, 2024 · sherry corleyThis camp truly embraces the community aspect that military campgrounds hold. From the weekly gatherings and breakfasts to the Pickleball outings, this camp is more than just a spot to park your RV. This campground could use a refresh to the bathrooms, but the staff seems to have a handle on keeping them clean. Customer service has been excellent; we have had a wonderful time staying here on multiple occasions.
Mar 03, 2024 · CamperCampground is ok. Spaces are close together. Not much space to put out things. The spaces by the front are for big rigs. The ones in the back fit the smaller rigs. They are not level. Bathrooms and laundry room available
