Knox Landing Campgrounds Introduce
For local residents in the Pell City, Alabama area seeking "camping near me," Knox Landing Campgrounds, located at 1200 Knoxs Landing Rd, Pell City, AL 35128, USA, offers a waterfront setting with a focus on fishing access and appears to cater significantly to full-time campers. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground has some notable features and aspects that potential visitors should be aware of when considering it for their camping needs.
One long-time user mentions fishing there since childhood, highlighting the campground's established presence and its appeal to anglers. The availability of a boat launch for a fee of $5 is a significant draw for those looking to access the water for fishing. However, this reviewer also cautions those with larger boats about a washed-out end of the ramp, noting that it was manageable for a flat-bottom boat and should be better during the summer pool level. This suggests that while boat launching is available, it might have limitations depending on the size of the boat and the water level.
Another reviewer provides insights into the experience for shorter stays. They noted that full-time campers are parked along the water, which, while perhaps creating a community feel for long-term residents, can obstruct the water views for short-term visitors and potentially limit swimming access. The reviewer described feeling like they were in "a stranger's front yard" due to this arrangement. This is an important consideration for local users looking for a scenic waterfront camping experience for a day or two.
In terms of facilities, the availability of a bathhouse is mentioned, but it is described as "very basic." The reviewer pointed out the lack of a place to put belongings while showering and the absence of air conditioning in the cement block building, which resulted in feeling sweaty again immediately after showering, especially in warmer weather. This suggests that while essential facilities are present, they might not offer a high level of comfort.
On a positive note, the same reviewer mentioned that "people are nice," indicating a potentially friendly community atmosphere within the campground. The price for a water and electric site was reported as $30 per night. However, the reviewer concluded that the other mentioned drawbacks made the stay "not worth it" for them, highlighting a potential trade-off between the cost and the overall experience, particularly for short-term stays.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Knox Landing Campgrounds is primarily waterfront, offering direct access for fishing and boating. However, for those seeking scenic water views from their campsite or easy swimming access, the prevalence of long-term campers along the water might be a limiting factor. The natural beauty of the lake and the surrounding area is implied by the appeal to fishing enthusiasts.
The services and features appear to include:
- Water and electric hookups at some sites (as indicated by the $30/night price)
- A boat launch with a $5 fee
- A basic bathhouse
However, amenities like dedicated swimming areas with easy access from all campsites, more comfortable bathhouse facilities (e.g., with AC and storage), and unobstructed waterfront views for all campers might be limited.
For local users considering Knox Landing Campgrounds for "camping near me," it's important to weigh the priorities. If the primary interest is fishing and perhaps a longer-term stay with water and electric hookups at a reasonable price, the campground might be suitable. The friendly people could also contribute to a positive community feel, especially for longer-term residents.
However, if you are looking for a short getaway with scenic waterfront views, easy swimming access, and more comfortable facilities, the current setup with long-term campers along the water and a basic bathhouse might not meet those expectations. It would be prudent to contact Knox Landing Campgrounds directly at (205) 338-3403 or +1 205-338-3403 to inquire about site availability for short-term stays, the layout of the campground in relation to water access and views, and the current condition of the boat ramp.
The provided information does not include any specific promotional offers. When you contact Knox Landing Campgrounds, you could ask if they have any special rates for local residents or for short-term stays during certain times of the year.
In summary, Knox Landing Campgrounds in Pell City, AL, offers a waterfront location with a focus on fishing and appears to cater significantly to long-term campers. Key takeaways from the reviews include:
- Good for fishing with a boat launch available (though with potential limitations for larger boats)
- Friendly people
- Basic water and electric sites at a reasonable price ($30/night mentioned)
- Waterfront views and swimming access for short-term visitors might be limited due to the placement of long-term campers
- The bathhouse is very basic without AC or storage space
For local residents looking for "camping near me," Knox Landing Campgrounds might be a viable option depending on their specific needs and priorities. If fishing is your main goal and you are prepared for basic facilities and potentially limited waterfront views from your campsite, it could be worth considering. Contact them directly to get more information and to see if it aligns with what you are looking for in a local camping experience.

Knox Landing Campgrounds Reviews
Been Fishing There Since I Was A Kid. $5 To Launch. Gotta Be Careful With A Bigger Boat. The End Of The Ramp Is Washed Out. I Was Able To Launch My Flat Bottom With No Issues. Should Be Fine At Summer Pool.
Feb 12, 2025 · Adam HaydenNot a good spot to stay for just a day or two. Full time campers are parked all along the water with their own docks which blocks any view of the water and also prevents any swimming access or makes you feel like you are in a stranger's front yard. Bathhouse is available but very basic with no place to put your things while you shower and no a/c in the cement block building so that by time you shower and dress you are already sweaty again.People are nice and price was $30a night for water and elec site but the other things make it not worth it.
