Kozy Campground

Bridger-Teton National Forest, Forest Rd 30527, Jackson, WY 83001, USA

4.0
Beautiful location on the Hobak River! We spent five nights there. Easy access off of 89. Amazing fishing. It rained the first night, however, the rest of the time was amazing sunny cloudless. Temps were down into the 50s in the evenings 80s during the day. Just an idyllic place to spend a week fishing fishing and camping. You will probably want to bring bear spray so you’re as safe as possible. There are bare boxes for your food. There are no RV hook ups but there is a freshwater pump for drinking water. Each site has its own fire pit and picnic table as well as a standing grill, like the ones you see in a park. - Zach Spafford

Located conveniently off Highway 89, Kozy Campground provides easy access to a world of natural wonders. Imagine waking up to the soothing sounds of the Hobak River, which flows beautifully alongside the campground. The location is truly stunning, offering picturesque views and a sense of peaceful seclusion that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The surrounding Bridger-Teton National Forest boasts vast wilderness, abundant wildlife, and opportunities for exploration, making Kozy Campground an ideal base for your outdoor adventures.

Based on feedback from fellow campers, Kozy Campground is particularly renowned for its amazing fishing opportunities in the Hobak River. Whether you are an experienced angler or simply enjoy casting a line and relaxing by the water, the river promises a rewarding experience. Imagine spending your days trying your luck in the pristine waters, surrounded by the beauty of the Wyoming landscape. The five-night stay mentioned by one reviewer speaks volumes about the allure and tranquility of this location, inviting you to settle in and truly immerse yourself in the natural surroundings.

While the beauty of the location is undeniable, it's important to be prepared for the natural environment. As this is bear country, it is highly recommended to bring bear spray to ensure your safety. The campground thoughtfully provides bear boxes at each site, allowing you to securely store your food and other scented items, minimizing the risk of attracting wildlife. This practical amenity underscores the campground's consideration for both camper safety and the preservation of the natural habitat.

Kozy Campground offers a more traditional camping experience, focusing on the essentials for enjoying the outdoors. It's important to note that there are no RV hookups available. However, for those relying on freshwater, a convenient freshwater pump is located within the campground, providing access to drinking water. This feature is particularly valuable for tent campers and those with smaller camping setups who appreciate having a reliable water source nearby.

Each of the eight campsites at Kozy Campground is equipped with its own fire pit, perfect for cozy evenings under the stars, sharing stories, and enjoying the warmth of a crackling fire. Additionally, each site features a picnic table, providing a convenient space for meals, games, and simply relaxing amidst the natural beauty. You'll also find a standing grill at each site, similar to those found in parks, offering another option for preparing delicious meals outdoors. The availability of these individual amenities enhances the comfort and convenience of your camping experience.

For budget-conscious travelers, Kozy Campground offers an incredibly affordable option at just $15 per night. This exceptional value allows you to experience the beauty of Bridger-Teton National Forest without breaking the bank, making it an attractive choice for individuals, families, and groups looking for an economical getaway. The "cheap" and "nice stop" comments from visitors highlight the campground's appeal as a budget-friendly and pleasant place to stay.

The small size of Kozy Campground, with only eight sites, contributes to its peaceful and intimate atmosphere. Visitors have described it as "not busy" and "very quiet," suggesting a serene environment where you can truly escape the noise and crowds often associated with larger campgrounds. This tranquility allows for a more immersive and relaxing experience, where the sounds of nature become your soundtrack.

In terms of infrastructure, Kozy Campground offers a bathroom facility for basic convenience. The campsites themselves are described as "paved" and "semi-leveled," which can make setting up tents and navigating the campground easier. The presence of a fire pit at each site further enhances the traditional camping experience, allowing for campfires and cooking over an open flame.

Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to gather firewood that doesn't require chopping, adding to the ease and enjoyment of having a campfire. The proximity to the river also means you might be lucky enough to spot local wildlife. Previous visitors have reported seeing deer and ground squirrels, adding to the charm and natural appeal of the campground. The surrounding forest is also likely home to a variety of other flora and fauna, offering ample opportunities for wildlife viewing and nature photography.

It's worth noting that cellular service can be limited at Kozy Campground. One reviewer specifically mentioned "no service if you have AT&T." Therefore, it's advisable to be prepared for limited or no connectivity, allowing you to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in the natural surroundings. This digital detox can be a welcome aspect of a camping trip for many, offering a chance to step away from screens and reconnect with nature and your fellow campers.

In summary, Kozy Campground offers a beautiful and affordable camping experience in the heart of Bridger-Teton National Forest. Its stunning location along the Hobak River, coupled with amenities like individual fire pits, picnic tables, and grills, provides the essentials for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The quiet and uncrowded atmosphere, combined with opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing, make it a perfect destination for local users seeking a peaceful "camping near me" getaway. While lacking RV hookups and potentially having limited cell service, Kozy Campground more than compensates with its natural beauty, tranquility, and exceptional value.
