Kozy Kampground Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Celina, Ohio area, Kozy Kampground, located at 5134 It's It Rd, Celina, OH 45822, USA, presents a camping option with a range of experiences reported by visitors. You can contact them at (419) 268-2275 or +1 419-268-2275 for inquiries and reservations. Based on the available customer reviews, Kozy Kampground appears to cater to both permanent RV residents and short-term campers, with feedback highlighting both positive long-term experiences and significant issues encountered by some short-term visitors.
One long-term camper with a permanent spot expressed a highly positive view of Kozy Kampground. They stated that they "love it here" and have had "no problems at all." This reviewer advised others not to listen to negative reviews, suggesting that such issues might be self-inflicted due to a failure to respect the campground's rules. They praised the management, Marlene and John, for always being kind to them. This positive testimonial indicates that for some, particularly those with permanent arrangements, Kozy Kampground offers a satisfactory and well-managed living environment.
However, another reviewer recounted a considerably negative experience during what was intended to be a small birthday party gathering. This group, consisting of two families with boys and girls, had three large tents and initially hoped to set up four tents across two lots. While acknowledging the campground's regulations regarding the number of tents per lot, they attempted to compromise after being informed of the rules. Their experience details a series of frustrating and costly interactions with the campground management and staff.
The group had rented two docks for their boat and jet skis, expecting to pay $10 per dock as indicated on the website. However, these docks were reportedly taken over by other boaters, preventing the group from using their rented watercraft. Upon requesting a refund or an alternative arrangement to accommodate their tents within regulations, they encountered resistance. The reviewer mentioned an initial $110 hold over the phone, $200 paid for two nights at two sites, and an additional $50 paid in cash upon arrival for another site, with no receipt provided for the cash payment.
The cost of the docks also turned out to be higher than advertised, with the reviewer stating they were charged $50 for the two docks instead of the $20 expected based on the website. Following a lengthy argument, the group reportedly had to pay again for their campsite just to keep their tents set up, leading to significant unexpected expenses. They also incurred additional costs for purchasing plugs to adapt from camper hookups to 110V for their tents, a detail they admitted was their oversight for not confirming tent site power availability.
This reviewer described their "cheap" camping trip as turning into a "money pit" and vowed never to camp at Kozy Kampground again or recommend it to others. They also raised concerns about the condition of the amenities, noting that the pool was low and could have used cleaning, and the porta-potties near their site were heavily infested with spiders, with no action taken after they reported it. This forced them and their children to walk a significant distance to use the main bathrooms.
A minor positive point mentioned by this reviewer was the presence of a faucet on the water line at their site. However, this was overshadowed by the numerous negative aspects of their experience, including the lack of a refund for the unusable docks and what they perceived as poor communication from the management. They also stated that they had informed the campground in advance about having guests for a party who would be leaving, suggesting a lack of flexibility or understanding from the management regarding visitors.
Further compounding their negative experience, this reviewer reported difficulties with online and over-the-phone booking, including a booking error that placed their three campsites next to the owner's father's site instead of together as requested. This indicates potential issues with the reservation system and communication during the booking process.
The environment of Kozy Kampground is not extensively described in these reviews beyond the mention of a location suitable for a birthday party, implying some open or communal space. Its proximity to the lake is suggested by the rental of boat and jet ski docks, which could be a significant draw for local users interested in water activities. However, the negative review points to potential issues with the upkeep and cleanliness of the facilities, such as the pool and porta-potties.
Services at Kozy Kampground appear to include campsite rentals with water and possibly electrical hookups (though the voltage availability for tent sites seems to be a point of confusion), dock rentals for lake access, and potentially waste disposal facilities (porta-potties and presumably a main bathroom). The management's approach to rule enforcement and customer service seems to be a key factor influencing the overall experience, with one long-term resident praising their kindness and another short-term visitor citing rudeness and poor communication.
Features mentioned include permanent RV spots, indicating a long-term community within the campground. The availability of docks suggests lake access for boating and other water sports. The presence of a pool and porta-potties (in poor condition, according to one review) indicates some level of recreational and basic sanitation facilities. The planned birthday party also implies that the campground might accommodate group events, although the experience of the reviewer hosting the party was overwhelmingly negative.
There is no explicit promotional information available in these reviews, such as discounts, seasonal offers, or special packages for local residents. The website mentioned by one reviewer regarding dock prices is not accessible to us, so we cannot verify its accuracy or any other potential promotions it might contain. Local users would need to contact Kozy Kampground directly to inquire about any current specials or pricing for campsites and amenities.
In conclusion, Kozy Kampground near Celina, OH, presents a mixed bag for local users searching for "camping near me." While it offers permanent RV spots and potential lake access, the experiences of short-term visitors appear to vary significantly. One long-term camper reports a positive experience with kind management and no problems. In stark contrast, a short-term group encountered numerous issues, including discrepancies in pricing, unusable rented amenities, poor communication, and unsatisfactory conditions of some facilities. The lack of cleanliness of the porta-potties and the state of the pool are concerning points raised by a visitor. Potential campers should be aware of these conflicting reports and consider contacting Kozy Kampground directly to seek clarification on current policies, pricing, and the condition of amenities before making a reservation. The convenience of lake access might be appealing, but the potential for unexpected fees, mismanaged bookings, and poorly maintained facilities could detract significantly from the camping experience.

Kozy Kampground Reviews
We have a permanent spot for our camper. We love it here. No problems at all. Don’t listen to negative reviews. People bring these problems on themselves. Management must have rules and you must respect that. They have always been kind to us. Marlene and John
Jul 23, 2024 · Marlene SchmitmeyerWith an amazing location for a small birthday party! We was rudely treated after having three large tents two families boys and girls kids. We was hoping to set up four tents in two lots. Understandable of the regulations. So we tried to compromise. Using a dock for a day for a boat and jet skis we rented two dock. Was taken over by other boaters and ended up pulling out our water crafts, asked for a refund, or instead add another area so we can have regulation tents in the area. After spending.110$ hold over the phone.200$ for 2 nights two sites50$ for another site when we arrive to one of the employees, in cash. “No proof of purchase besides my missing cash$50 for two docs- website said 10$ a dockThan after a lon drawn out argument we ended up paying again for the site just to keep our tents up!So after not being able to use our doc, buying plugs to change from a camper to a 110 for the tents and electric. That was our bad for not asking if a tent site was a 110.A “cheap” camping trip turned into a money pit. Never again will I camp here or point it out.Pool was low, could have been power washed. The porta pots close to our site was covered in spiders I said something but nothing was done.So we walked a distant with kids to the bathroom all weekend. Was nice to have a faucet on the water line. Not allowed a refund, no good communication.I allowed them to know we was having people come for a party. And leaving.Difficulty online, and over the phone booking was as well a hassle. Was booked wrong3 camp sites together beside his fathers.
Jul 30, 2024 · barbi bertschWe had absolutly nothing but a great experience. Ppl were all really friendly, there was events the whole wknd, pool andplayground were clean, front office was very easy to deal with, and the guy ( can't remember his name) that helped my husband was really nice.I personally appreciate having plenty of space per campsite and that it wasn't loud through the crack of dawn.
Sep 03, 2024 · Em CarpenterKozy is a wonderful campground. The staff is so helpful and feel like family. The owners are delightful and always feel like they're watching out for you and your comfort. People complain about the rules, but they're truly necessary having stayed at many other campgrounds that are just a total free for all. We love it there and plan to stick around for quite sometime!!!
Jun 09, 2023 · Jack OlshanWe did extensive research before choosing our new second home location. You hear the good and the bad. Many bad reviews of Kozy are from 5+ years ago, before new management took over. A simple ride around the park will tell you so much more!!Campers are friendly, and willing to lend a hand when needed. The staff go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly.Almost every weekend offers activities for both kids and adults. We have 2 children (ages 3 and 6), we feel safe letting them play and adventure. Our oldest rides their bike around our block with no issues. Campers truly look out for each other.Rules are in place to make sure Campers are safe. As well as keeping the campground clean, and family oriented. The pond is wonderful for some easy fishing, or the lake is just steps away.Everything can't be perfect, and we totally understand that. The only changes I would wish for is a bigger play area with swings, and more room for all of the kids to play. A second basketball area in the kids area so they can play without going to the front of the campground. The pool is our favorite amenity. Although it is clean, it could use some upgrading. A small splash pad area would be nice too for the younger kids. However, I am well aware that these things come with time and take money. The shelter house is amazing for events, and activities. We love when live music comes in. Restrooms at this location would be more than ideal. With all of this said, we have no complaints. Very pleased with our experience- and hope to remain for many , many years. In a few short months we have made friends that feel like family.
