Laird Park Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Harvard, Idaho area? Laird Park Campground, located at 1101 Palouse River Rd, Harvard, ID 83834, USA, offers a camping experience that, according to visitor reviews, has both its highlights and drawbacks. You can contact them at (208) 875-1131 or their mobile number +1 208-875-1131 for more information. Let's delve into what local users are saying about this campground.
Environment: One reviewer mentioned having "a blast" at Laird Park Campground, noting that the water was "ice cold" which felt pleasant under the "hot sun." This suggests the campground is situated near a body of water suitable for cooling off during warm weather. It was also described as a "great place to take kids," implying an environment that can be enjoyable for families. The campgrounds themselves are described as "beautiful" by another visitor.
However, there's a contrasting perspective regarding the suitability of the environment for all types of campers. One review states that the campgrounds are "more suitable for folks with ATVs." This suggests that the area might be geared towards off-road vehicle activities, which could influence the overall atmosphere and noise levels depending on ATV usage.
A notable concern raised by a reviewer was the presence of "cows roaming all over the campgrounds," which they found "disturbing." This unusual aspect of the environment might be a factor for those who prefer a more traditional campground setting. The reviewer questioned the hygiene implications of roaming livestock within the camping area.
In terms of water access, while one reviewer enjoyed the cold water, another pointed out that "no fishing allowed in the park." For those whose camping trips often involve fishing, this restriction is a significant consideration. The closest fishing location mentioned was Moose Creek Reservoir, which led one group to move their camping trip there.
Services and Features: Information regarding specific services and features at Laird Park Campground is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. One significant point mentioned is that "the gates are locked from 10 pm to 6 am." The reviewer questioned the reason for this security measure. This gate policy is something potential campers should be aware of, as it would restrict entry and exit during these hours.
The condition of the bathrooms was a major point of criticism, with one reviewer describing them as "the most disgusting that I have ever smelled." This is a serious concern for hygiene and overall comfort during a camping trip.
There is no mention of amenities like hookups, showers, or specific recreational facilities other than the water access (for swimming, presumably, not fishing) and the apparent suitability for ATV use.
Restrictions: Several restrictions are explicitly mentioned in the reviews. As noted earlier, "no fishing allowed in the park." Additionally, "no dogs on the beach" is a rule that pet owners need to be aware of. One reviewer found it contradictory that dogs were not allowed on the beach for "my safety," yet cows were roaming freely through the campgrounds. These rules might influence the decision of campers with pets or those interested in fishing.
Promotional Information (Implicit): Despite the criticisms, the positive comment about having "a blast" and it being a "great place to take kids" suggests that Laird Park Campground can offer an enjoyable experience, particularly for families and possibly those interested in ATV activities. The beautiful campgrounds mentioned by one reviewer also hint at an aesthetically pleasing natural setting.
For local users looking for "camping near me" that might cater to ATV enthusiasts and families seeking a place with water access for cooling off, Laird Park Campground could be an option to consider. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with bathroom cleanliness, the presence of roaming cows, the restrictions on fishing and dogs on the beach, and the gate closure hours. The suitability for ATV use might be a significant draw for some, while the same might be a deterrent for others seeking a quieter, more traditional camping experience focused on activities like fishing or bringing pets to the waterfront.
Before making a decision, local users might want to weigh the potential for family fun and ATV use against the concerns raised about facilities and the environment. Given the mixed feedback, it might be beneficial to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current conditions of the bathrooms, the presence of cows, and any specific details regarding ATV usage and other amenities. This will help in making an informed choice based on your priorities for a "camping near me" experience.
In conclusion, Laird Park Campground near Harvard, Idaho, appears to be a location with some appealing aspects, such as potentially beautiful campgrounds and water access that's great for cooling off, making it a possible choice for families and ATV enthusiasts. However, significant drawbacks reported by visitors, including the state of the bathrooms, roaming cows, and restrictions on fishing and dogs on the beach, should be carefully considered. The locked gates at night are also a factor to keep in mind. For local campers, understanding these pros and cons will be crucial in deciding if Laird Park Campground fits their needs for a "camping near me" getaway.

Laird Park Campground Reviews
We had a blast! The water was ice cold and the hot sun beating down was just right. Great place to take kids.
Jun 13, 2023 · DFW Gutter GuruFor your safety and the safety of other campers... The gates are locked from 10 pm to 6 am (what are we afraid of?) ...no fishing allowed in the park... No dogs on the beach....The campgrounds are beautiful but more suitable for folks with ATVs. The bathrooms were the most disgusting that I have ever smelled, I don't know what that is about. There were cows roaming all over the campgrounds which was disturbing, who is "packing it out" for the cows? No dogs on the beach (for my safety) but cows no problem.Closest fishing was tools Moose Creek Reservoir, we moved camping trip to Moose Creek Reservoir.
Sep 08, 2019 · Brenda Boyer Knoll(We did not camp; only drove through.). Bathroom was very clean. Camp sites spacious. Fun to see the cows. Ooops -- be careful of the cow pies.
Sep 17, 2018 · Richard BowlesVery nice campgrounds, clean and quiet, nice swimming area for your people or your dogs, large picnicking areas, great views.
Aug 01, 2018 · Nona KnerrAwesome overnight for nomads with dogs. No one was here, the only weird thing was a sign saying not to use the water for safety & they lock the gate at night for safety
