Cedar Creek Campground Introduce
Seeking a "camping near me" experience that offers a more intimate and rustic feel in the Clarkia, Idaho area? Cedar Creek Campground, located in Clarkia, ID 83812, USA, might be the spot for you. Based on feedback from local campers, this small campground provides a basic but potentially enjoyable outdoor experience, particularly for tent campers and those traveling by motorcycle. While it has its limitations, its proximity to nature and certain features make it a consideration for those looking for a simple overnight stay or a basecamp for exploring the surrounding area.
The environment of Cedar Creek Campground is characterized by its close proximity to the road. While this offers easy access, some road noise, particularly over a nearby bridge, can be expected. However, the three available campsites are reportedly "semi-enclosed by trees," offering a degree of separation and privacy from both the road and potentially other campers. This natural screening helps create a more secluded feel within each individual site, preventing a completely open and exposed camping experience. The presence of a creek "just off the sites" is a significant environmental feature, providing the soothing sounds of flowing water and the opportunity for "fishing options" and "river access for wading." This proximity to the creek enhances the natural appeal of the campground, offering a chance to connect with the local waterways.
In terms of services, Cedar Creek Campground appears to be quite basic. The reviews explicitly mention that there is "no RV room," indicating that the campsites are not designed or suitable for recreational vehicles. However, there is "ample parking" available, suggesting that those arriving in smaller vehicles or towing trailers (excluding RVs) should find adequate space. A restroom facility is present and has been noted as "always clean." While the availability of a clean restroom is a definite plus for a rustic campground, one reviewer pointed out that despite its accessibility, some individuals still choose not to use it, which can be a general concern in any outdoor setting. Another service-related issue mentioned is that the "pay envelopes tend not to be stocked," suggesting a self-service payment system that may not always be well-maintained.
The features of Cedar Creek Campground are primarily centered around its natural setting. The creek access for fishing and wading is a key feature for those who enjoy water-based activities. The semi-enclosed campsites offer a degree of privacy not always found in more open campgrounds. Its suitability for tent camping and motorcycle campers positions it as a convenient stopover for those engaged in these types of travel. However, a significant drawback highlighted in the reviews is the potential for a heavy presence of insects, specifically mentioning being "BOMBARDED with flies, bees, and wasps" during one camper's experience. While the reviewer noted this was an unusual occurrence for them at this site, it's a factor to be aware of, especially during warmer months. Additionally, a recurring issue mentioned is noise pollution from barking dogs located about a mile away, with barking reported to occur frequently between 6 am and 10 pm. This external noise factor could significantly impact the tranquility of the camping experience.
Promotional information for Cedar Creek Campground, based on the limited reviews, would likely focus on its natural setting with creek access, the semi-private campsites, and its suitability as a convenient stop for tent and motorcycle campers. The proximity to nature and the potential for a quiet, albeit basic, camping experience could be highlighted. However, any objective promotion would also need to acknowledge the potential downsides mentioned in the reviews, such as the road noise, the possibility of insect swarms, and the noise from distant barking dogs. Transparency about these potential drawbacks is crucial for managing expectations and ensuring that local users looking for "camping near me" can make an informed decision.
Considering the "camping near me" category, Cedar Creek Campground offers a more primitive option compared to developed campgrounds with full amenities. Its small size, limited services, and potential for noise and insects might not appeal to all campers. However, for those specifically seeking a basic tent site or a convenient overnight stop while motorcycle touring, its location and natural features like the creek access could be attractive. The fact that it's been used multiple times by some campers suggests that it meets the needs of a certain segment of the local camping community. It serves as a reminder that "camping near me" can encompass a range of experiences, from full-service resorts to more rustic and natural settings.
In conclusion, Cedar Creek Campground near Clarkia, Idaho, provides a rustic camping experience with creek access and semi-enclosed campsites. It appears best suited for tent campers and motorcycle travelers seeking a simple overnight stay. While the presence of a clean restroom is a positive aspect, potential drawbacks include road noise, the possibility of significant insect activity, and noise from distant barking dogs. Local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh these factors against the campground's natural setting and convenience. It's essential to be prepared for a more primitive camping experience and to consider bringing insect repellent and earplugs to mitigate potential discomforts. Despite its limitations, Cedar Creek Campground offers a basic option for those looking to connect with nature in the Clarkia area.

Cedar Creek Campground Reviews
Pretty close to the road but the three campsites are semi-enclosed by trees. You're not necessarily staring right into others camp ground. There is a creek and fishing options just off the sites. All sites are relatively small. Last time I was there we were BOMBARDED with flies, bees, and wasps. I've never had such an issue with them before at this site.
Aug 30, 2022 · Taylor OgbornHave camped here a couple times. Decent for tent site or motorcycle campers that need a rest stop. No RV room but otherwise ample parking. River access for wading. Giving only 2 stars because about a mile away is someone who owns hounds or dogs that bark constantly until 10pm at night and start about 6am. Nearby road noise over the bridge is so-so but quiets down during middle of the night. Restroom has always been clean (despite its easy access, people still manage not to use it in lieu of their campsite) and the pay envelopes tend not to be stocked.
