For local residents seeking a unique "camping near me" experience that caters to both nature lovers and equestrian enthusiasts, Stampede Run, located at 2150 Beulah Heights Rd, Whitley City, KY, offers an exceptional getaway. This campground has garnered high praise for its welcoming hosts, excellent facilities, and prime location with direct access to riding trails in the Daniel Boone National Forest and proximity to stunning natural attractions. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat with opportunities for horseback riding, hiking, and exploring scenic wonders, Stampede Run is a destination worth considering.
Stampede Run distinguishes itself within the "camping near me" category, particularly for those with horses, by providing outstanding equestrian amenities. As highlighted by a grateful guest who experienced a breakdown, the hosts, Darlene and Rick, went above and beyond by not only offering accommodation but also setting up a "private coral" for their horses when they weren't in their stalls. The availability of "shavings for the stalls" further demonstrates their commitment to the comfort and care of visiting horses. For local users who enjoy camping with their equine companions, Stampede Run offers a rare and invaluable combination of hospitality and specialized facilities.
Beyond the equestrian facilities, Stampede Run boasts exceptional amenities for all campers. Both reviews commend the "fabulous shower and washroom," noting "plenty hot water, clean and beautifully decorated." Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are a crucial aspect of any comfortable camping experience, and the positive feedback here suggests that Stampede Run excels in this area. The added touch of being "beautifully decorated" indicates an attention to detail that elevates the standard camping experience.
Another noteworthy feature of Stampede Run is the "useful and beautiful" outdoor kitchen. In addition to catering to horse owners and hikers, Stampede Run also offers standard campground amenities for RV and tent campers. The second review mentions that the "Campground is very nice with water and electric hookups," making it suitable for RVs seeking these conveniences. The presence of "fire rings at the campsite" allows for campfires and outdoor cooking, enhancing the traditional camping experience. Moreover, the "pavilion with a kitchen" provides an alternative cooking and gathering space, potentially useful during inclement weather or for larger groups. The availability of a "Horse barn/stalls" further emphasizes the equestrian focus but also indicates well-maintained facilities on the property.

Stampede Run Reviews
Darlene & Rick are wonderful hosts. We broke down and they graciously let us stay, and put up a private coral for our horses, when they weren't in their stalls. They have a fabulous shower and washroom. Plenty hot water, clean and beautifully decorated. The outside kitchen was useful and beautiful. Very quiet, private, and peaceful. There was shavings for the stalls, firewood for cold nights. And they sold ice on the property, For hot days. We went sightseeing.Nearby. There was beautiful waterfalls, an arch rock formations. We had an injured horse, so we didn't get to ride. But the forest trail was accessed right from your campsite. We really enjoyed ourselves under the circumstances of being stranded without a truck to pull our horse trailer. We will definitely come back to stay and hopefully get to ride the trails. We'd love to see Darlene, and Rick again. Thank you, we had a great stay, you made a stressful situation relaxing. Thank you. Your place is beautiful.
Apr 17, 2025 · Mark SeewaldGreat place to camp and trail ride. The owners have trail maps available and are happy to help you plan your ride in Daniel Boone National Forest. You can access the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail from this camp. Campground is very nice with water and electric hookups, very nice bathhouse and restrooms, fire rings at the campsite, and a pavilion with a kitchen. Horse barn/stalls are also very nice. Pack a lunch and enjoy the ride!
Aug 16, 2022 · Kenny BaskinWonderful hosts, great trails for horseback riding or hiking. Outdoor cooking area, water and electric at sites. Clean restroom and shower.
Oct 21, 2024 · Momzah McdonaldGreat atmosphere, Great people and I love the pavilion with a refrigerator, stove and ice ! And a nice shower house Way more bougie than any other horse camp! If you haven’t been check it out
Aug 30, 2024 · Amanda EdingtonGreat little horse camp. Tight grounds, but everyone gets together in the middle of the campground for fire and hangs out together. Not the place to go if you like to be private or do your own thing, it is a group place where strangers become friends immediately due to close quarters. Loved it!
