We stopped here for a couple of nights on a trip to Georgia. The RV sites are small - be sure that you check the size of the site so that your trailer will fit! (I was able to secure one of the largest sites at 26', very close to the bathhouse.) Our trailer fit fine, but in terms of site space, we had very little - not enough room to set up our clamshell around the picnic table. The bathhouse facility was clean, if small. Only 2 shower units means you need to be quick to get in!If you're here, you're going to see Cumberland Falls. If not, what are you doing? But don't forget to visit some of the others, too: Eagle Falls, Dog Slaughter Falls. The hikes have a good deal of elevation change, so be prepared. If it has rained, be ready to have some muddy shoes. But it'll be worth it.As a humorous aside, we here hiking to Eagle Falls when a thunderstorm cell came in. When we got back to the RV, we discovered the power was out to the whole campground! On a hot and already humid day, we knew we didn't want to sit in the camper with 5 folks and no AC, so we sat under the awning and enjoyed the rain and each other's company. Sometimes things go this way - find ways to make the most of it! - Roy Henry

Cumberland Falls RV Campground Introduce

Looking for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Cumberland Falls, Kentucky? Cumberland Falls RV Campground, located at RMQ9+XV, Honeybee, KY 40769, USA, offers a convenient base for exploring the stunning natural attractions of the area. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground has both its strengths and some limitations that potential visitors should be aware of.

One reviewer who stayed for a couple of nights on their way to Georgia noted that the RV sites are generally small, emphasizing the importance of checking site size to ensure your trailer fits. They were able to secure a 26' site close to the bathhouse, which accommodated their trailer. However, they mentioned limited overall site space, not enough to comfortably set up a clamshell around the picnic table. The bathhouse was described as clean but small, with only two shower units, potentially leading to wait times. This reviewer highlighted the primary draw of the area: Cumberland Falls, and also recommended visiting nearby Eagle Falls and Dog Slaughter Falls. They advised being prepared for hikes with elevation changes and potential mud after rain. As a humorous anecdote, they recounted a power outage during a thunderstorm, which led to them enjoying the rain and company under their awning, suggesting a positive attitude towards unexpected situations.

Another guest, who stayed one night in a 20' travel trailer, expressed a desire to give the campground a higher rating but pointed out that the RV campsites are "VERY SMALL," even for their smaller camper. They also noted the shared power and water hookup outlet boxes between adjoining sites. This reviewer's initially assigned site was deemed unacceptable due to the distance to the hookups and insufficient straightaway for backing in, complicated by a playground across the narrow one-lane loop road. Despite these drawbacks regarding site size, they rated everything else as 5 stars. The showers and laundry room were described as "spotlessly clean" and air-conditioned, with excellent water pressure and temperature. The surrounding area was praised for being "very rugged and beautifully forested." The reviewer also mentioned a horseback riding corral about a quarter mile away with nice riding trails, a "spotlessly clean" camp store with a helpful attendant, and the State Park's lodge and waterfall just a mile away, offering wonderful overlooks and hiking trails. However, they noted that the lodge's restaurant is only for lodge guests and that the nearest restaurant in Corbin is about 15-17 miles away, which could be inconvenient for those who don't cook. They also cautioned about the last 7 miles of the road to the park being hilly and winding with blind curves, advising against driving it at night while towing, especially due to deer and bear activity. The bottom line from this review is that RVs longer than 25' or Class B motorhomes longer than 30' likely won't fit, and even smaller RVs require expert driving and backing skills due to the small and shallow sites and the narrow loop road. Class A motorhomes are definitely not recommended. The reviewer found this disappointing given the beautiful surrounding countryside.

For local users searching for "camping near me" with an RV, Cumberland Falls RV Campground offers a location with exceptional access to natural beauty, including Cumberland Falls and surrounding hiking trails. The cleanliness of the facilities, such as the bathhouse and laundry, is a significant positive. The friendly service at the camp store is also noteworthy.

However, potential visitors, especially those with larger RVs, must carefully consider the size limitations of the campsites. Checking the specific dimensions of a site before booking is crucial. The shared utility hookups might also be a factor to consider.

The environment around the campground is a major draw, with rugged, beautifully forested areas and the proximity to stunning waterfalls like Cumberland, Eagle, and Dog Slaughter Falls. Hiking enthusiasts should be prepared for elevation changes and potentially muddy trails, especially after rain. Horseback riding is also available nearby.

Services include clean bathhouse and laundry facilities, a camp store, and access to the attractions within Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. However, there are no on-site dining options for campground guests, with the nearest restaurants being a drive to Corbin.

Features of the campground include RV sites (with size variations), shared power and water hookups, picnic tables, and access to hiking trails and the attractions of the State Park. The presence of a playground was noted by one reviewer in relation to site access.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews, but the repeated mentions of the beauty of Cumberland Falls and the surrounding area serve as a strong incentive for nature lovers. The positive remarks about the cleanliness and the friendly staff also enhance the campground's appeal.

For local users seeking "camping near me" who prioritize access to natural wonders and clean facilities and have smaller RVs (under 25'), Cumberland Falls RV Campground could be a great option. However, those with larger rigs or those who prefer more spacious campsites with dedicated hookups might need to look elsewhere. The distance to dining options is also a factor for those who prefer not to cook.

In conclusion, Cumberland Falls RV Campground offers a convenient location for exploring the natural beauty of Cumberland Falls and its surroundings. The campground is praised for its clean facilities and friendly service. However, the small size of the RV sites and shared utility hookups are important considerations for potential visitors. If you are "camping near me" and plan to visit Cumberland Falls and are traveling in a smaller RV, this campground could be a suitable choice, provided you are aware of the site limitations and the distance to external amenities like restaurants.
