I-10 Kampground Introduce
If you're searching for 'camping near me' and considering I-10 Kampground located at 6430 Theodore Dawes Rd, Theodore, AL 36582, it's important to have a comprehensive understanding of what this campground offers based on recent feedback from visitors. While the initial appearance of large concrete pads might be appealing, delving deeper into the experiences shared by other campers reveals a more nuanced picture of this facility.
Several reviewers have indicated that I-10 Kampground appears to primarily cater to workers and individuals seeking budget-friendly long-term accommodation rather than solely focusing on short-term camping for leisure travelers. This is an important consideration for those looking for a traditional campground atmosphere. The overall environment, as described by some visitors, suggests a more residential feel than a typical recreational camping area.
One significant issue raised by a camper concerns the placement of sewer lines on the concrete pads situated at the front of the park. According to the review, these lines are positioned forward on the pads, contrary to the more common rear placement for trailer valves. This necessitates the use of multiple sewer hoses – in one instance, three lengths were required – to reach the connection point. Furthermore, the sloping terrain of the pads reportedly results in a poor angle for proper drainage, leading to difficulties in clearing waste. This is a critical factor for RV owners to consider regarding the practicality and convenience of the hookups at these sites.
The location of the concrete pads at the front of the campground also presents a potential drawback for those seeking a peaceful camping experience. These sites are reportedly near the road, which remains busy even in the early hours of the morning. This proximity to traffic noise could impact the tranquility of your stay, especially if you are sensitive to such disturbances.
Multiple reviews express significant dissatisfaction with the facilities and management of I-10 Kampground. One recurring complaint revolves around the bathhouse. Despite being listed as an amenity that influenced a camper's decision to stay, the bathhouse is described as "rarely open." Visitors have reported that it's a daily "gamble" whether the facility will be accessible. This unreliability has forced some long-term residents to seek alternative solutions, such as purchasing gym memberships solely for shower access. Adding to the frustration, a request for a rent reduction to offset this unexpected expense was reportedly refused by the management.
Further criticisms extend to the general maintenance and upkeep of the property. Reviewers have noted that the lawns are not regularly cut or weeded, and trash accumulates around the edges of the property. Additionally, many of the camping spots are described as uneven and in need of fresh gravel. These observations suggest a lack of attention to basic groundskeeping, which can detract from the overall camping experience.
Concerns have also been raised regarding the professionalism and helpfulness of the office staff. Campers have reported instances of rudeness when inquiring about issues such as the bathhouse or lawn maintenance. Furthermore, staff members are often described as lacking answers or solutions to these concerns. This lack of communication and responsiveness can be a significant source of frustration for residents and short-term visitors alike.
Another serious issue highlighted in the reviews is the unreliability of essential utilities. One camper recounted an instance of the water being unexpectedly cut off for three consecutive days without any prior warning. When inquiring with the office, the response was reportedly dismissive, assuming the residents were aware of ongoing maintenance without any initial notification. This lack of communication regarding service disruptions can significantly impact the comfort and convenience of your stay.
The "Out of Order" sign on the bathhouse appears to be a frequent sight, and even when open, many of the showers and toilets are reportedly out of service. Often, the bathhouse door is locked with no explanation and no staff present in the office to provide information. This further underscores the issues with the availability and maintenance of this key amenity.
Based on the consistent themes in the customer reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the management practices at I-10 Kampground. The overall sentiment expressed by some reviewers is that the business prioritizes profit over addressing the needs and concerns of its residents and visitors. The refusal to rectify issues, coupled with a lack of proper communication regarding service disruptions and property maintenance, paints a concerning picture for potential campers searching in the 'camping near me' category.
Given the information available from these recent customer experiences, individuals seeking a reliable and well-maintained campground in the Theodore, Alabama area may want to carefully consider these factors before choosing I-10 Kampground. While the presence of concrete pads might initially seem appealing, the reported issues with sewer hookups, noise levels, bathhouse availability, grounds maintenance, and customer service warrant careful consideration. It is recommended to seek further information or explore alternative campgrounds in the 'camping near me' category to ensure a more satisfactory camping experience.
For those who still wish to inquire further, I-10 Kampground can be contacted at (251) 653-9816 or +1 251-653-9816. The physical address is 6430 Theodore Dawes Rd, Theodore, AL 36582, USA. I-10 Kampground Reviews
While the few large concrete pads in front are enticing, a walk around the park you realize this is mostly intended for workers and as homes for people on a budget.Someone made a mistake when running sewer lines before pouring those beautiful concrete pads: the lines are forward on the pads instead of towards the rear like most trailer valve are. It took three lengths of sewer hose to reach the pipe AND the whole thing is on a slope resulting in a very poor degree of angle. I had to carefully detach and lift the hose myself to clear the sludge. These concrete pads are at the front of the park and therefore near the road which remains busy till the early hours.
Mar 06, 2025 · andrew wylieDon’t stay here.My husband and I chose to stay here because they have a bathhouse, however it is rarely open. It’s a gamble each day of whether they will open it or not. Having no other choice, we signed up for a gym membership just to have access to a shower. We asked the person in the office if we could have our rent lowered by the cost of the gym membership ($25) and were refused. Despite the fact that they recently went up on rent by $50, and no improvements to the property have been made. They do not keep the lawns cut or weed-eated. There is trash all around the edges of the property. Most of the spots are uneven and need new gravel placed. The office staff are often rude when asked about things, and seem to never have answers (I.e. when asking about the bathhouse or lawn maintenance). For 3 days in a row without warning our water was cut off all day. When my husband called the office to ask what was going on, the woman on the phone simply said, “Well they’re working on your row’s water line. Didn’t you see them?” We were not notified initially that they would be working on it, or for how long. We were all notified about the price increase on rent though. Most of the time there is an “Out of Order” sign on the bathhouse, and there are also a lot of the showers and toilets Out of Order as well. Often there is no sign at all, but the door is still locked, and no one is in the office either. All around this is a greedy business that refuses to fix issues, or properly notify their renters.
Feb 28, 2025 · Sarah FitzpatrickConvenient to pull in to stay for the night. Don't think about using theNorestrooms or laundry. They're horrible! The days we were here they were never cleaned. I went in to take some pictures and had to hold my nose. It would gag a maget. Where can I post these pictures! Be ashamed! Corporate office pay attention! Worst restrooms I've EVER seen in an RV park!
Mar 17, 2025 · Larry AndersonGreat location! Pool is always clean and nice not a big pool but never have to worry about it not being cleaned. It’s super quiet all the time haven’t had any complaints or problems at all. Office staff is very friendly and helpful!! The hookups even come with a cable hookup that’s free. Bathhouse is always clean and the laundry room always looks clean for the amount of people here. Overall it’s a really nice setup and place to stay!!
