Red Diamond Group Campsite Introduce
If you are searching for “camping near me” in the Blue River, Oregon area and are specifically looking for a campsite that can accommodate a large group, Red Diamond Group Campsite, located in Blue River, OR 97413, USA, might be an excellent option. You can reach them by phone at (541) 603-8564 or mobile phone at +1 541-603-8564 to inquire about availability and make reservations.
Based on the available customer reviews, Red Diamond Group Campsite is highly regarded for its suitability for large groups and its secluded and remote environment. One reviewer explicitly stated, "Great campsite for large groups," which immediately highlights its key feature for those planning gatherings of significant size. The same reviewer also mentioned the presence of "2 Bucks are on site for bathroom usage," referring to portable toilets. While acknowledging the nature of such facilities in a natural setting, they noted that they were "kept as clean as you can get from a Bucks in the middle of a warm summer," suggesting a level of maintenance that users appreciated.
Another reviewer echoed the sentiment of seclusion and beauty, describing it as a "Beautiful group site very secluded and remote." This reinforces the idea that Red Diamond Group Campsite offers an opportunity to escape into nature and enjoy a degree of privacy that might not be available at more crowded campgrounds. The remoteness likely contributes to a more immersive outdoor experience, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
However, the reviews also highlight some important considerations for potential visitors. One significant point is the lack of readily available water at the campsite itself. A reviewer noted, "There is no water at the site and the river is too far away, and somewhat difficult to get down to, to rely on bucketing water from it." This is a critical piece of information for anyone planning to stay at Red Diamond Group Campsite. Campers must be prepared to bring all the water they will need for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and any other purposes. The review further mentioned that water and firewood were supposed to be available at "French Pete," presumably a nearby location or another part of the recreational area. However, they reported that firewood was sold out, and the water at French Pete was described as "coming out red/rusty," leading them to avoid it. This underscores the necessity of self-sufficiency regarding water and potentially firewood when planning a trip to Red Diamond Group Campsite.
Regarding swimming, the same reviewer commented on the temperature of the nearby river, stating, "it's super cold, I wouldn't plan on swimming at the site, but the water warms once it gets to Cougar." This suggests that while there might be a water body accessible from the campsite, it is likely not suitable for swimming due to its temperature. However, the mention of "Cougar" implies that warmer swimming opportunities might be available a short distance away, perhaps at Cougar Lake or in a different section of the river downstream.
Another factor to consider is the potential for mosquitoes, which can significantly impact the outdoor experience, especially during warmer months. One reviewer noted, "Mosquitoes weren't bad when we were there in late August," indicating that conditions might be favorable at that time of year. However, they also shared information from another camper who stayed in July and reported "swarming" mosquitoes. This suggests that the mosquito presence is "heavily dependent on the season," with the peak summer months likely to have a higher concentration. Visitors planning a trip to Red Diamond Group Campsite should be prepared for mosquitoes, especially if traveling during the early to mid-summer, and bring appropriate insect repellent and protective clothing.
Despite these challenges related to water and potential seasonal mosquitoes, the overall sentiment towards Red Diamond Group Campsite is positive. One reviewer concluded with, "Overall, fantastic site, the camp host was great, and we look forward to coming back next year!" This speaks volumes about the overall quality of the campsite and the positive interaction with the camp host, who likely plays a crucial role in ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors. The fact that a group is planning a return visit indicates a high level of satisfaction with the location and the services provided.
For local users searching for “camping near me” for a large group, Red Diamond Group Campsite offers a beautiful and secluded setting that is well-suited for gatherings. The positive feedback regarding the site itself and the camp host suggests a well-managed and enjoyable experience. However, it is imperative to be aware of the lack of on-site water and the potential for seasonal mosquito issues. Campers must come prepared with an adequate supply of water for all their needs and appropriate insect protection, especially during the summer months. The mention of fishing and the overall natural beauty of the area are also likely significant draws for outdoor enthusiasts.
To make a booking or inquire further about the specifics of Red Diamond Group Campsite, including any specific amenities for large groups, it is recommended to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. They can provide the most up-to-date information on availability, fees, and any current conditions or advisories for the campsite. When planning your “camping near me” trip for a large group, Red Diamond Group Campsite appears to be a strong contender, provided you are prepared for the self-sufficiency required regarding water and potential insect activity.

Water is also supposed to be available at French Pete, but we were told it was coming out red/rusty, so we left it alone.
