Price Creek Campground Introduce
For local users exploring the "Camping Near Me" platform and seeking an affordable and conveniently located campground in Montana, Price Creek Campground near Polaris presents an attractive option. Situated a short drive from Crystal Park, this campground has received positive feedback for its friendly camp hosts and spacious sites, though potential visitors should be aware of certain environmental factors and limited amenities. Based on recent customer reviews, this introduction provides a detailed overview of the environment, services, features, and pricing of Price Creek Campground for prospective local campers.
The environment at Price Creek Campground is described as beautiful, nestled in tall pine trees, offering a scenic and shaded camping experience. The campground layout includes both outer spots that are back-in sites and an inner loop with pull-through sites, catering to different types of camping setups and vehicle sizes. This variety in site configuration makes it accessible for both RVs and tent campers. The campground's location near Crystal Park, a popular destination for mineral enthusiasts, adds to its appeal for those planning to visit the park. While one reviewer noted a significant presence of mosquitoes, particularly in the evening, this is acknowledged as a common aspect of camping in natural environments, and the reviewer also appreciated the absence of horse flies and bees during their stay in July 2020.
In terms of services, Price Creek Campground offers basic but appreciated amenities. While it's a first-come, first-served campground, a visitor in July 2020 reported plenty of open spots on a Monday afternoon, suggesting that availability might not always be an issue, especially during the weekdays or possibly outside peak season. Camp hosts are present at the first spot to the left upon entering the campground. These hosts are described as very friendly and proactive. One reviewer noted that the camp host verified their information on the payment envelope upon arrival, a practice the reviewer had not encountered before. The hosts were also helpful in sharing information about wildlife sightings in the area, specifically mentioning a bear sighting at another nearby campground, underscoring the need for campers to be bear aware. The camp hosts were also observed driving around the campground every evening, checking on sites and ensuring no trash was left behind, and they were friendly and approachable when interacting with campers.
However, it is important to note a significant limitation: there are no trash cans or dumpsters provided at Price Creek Campground. Therefore, campers must plan to haul out all of their trash upon departure, emphasizing the need for responsible waste management. Additionally, one reviewer mentioned using a vault toilet that had a broken latch and a warning note about it potentially locking from the inside, indicating that the condition of some facilities might be less than ideal and should be approached with caution.
A key feature of Price Creek Campground is its affordability. In July 2020, the cost per night was $8. Furthermore, the campground offers an "all access pass discount," which reduced the nightly rate to $4 for those with the pass. This makes Price Creek Campground a very budget-friendly option for local campers. Its proximity to Crystal Park is another significant feature, making it a convenient base for those planning to explore the mineral collecting opportunities there. The availability of both back-in and pull-through sites caters to a range of camping preferences and vehicle types.
The presence of camp hosts who are actively involved in the campground management, providing information, and ensuring the area is kept tidy adds a level of security and assistance that is often appreciated by campers. Their regular presence and friendly interactions contribute to a positive camping experience. The layout of the campground, with spacious sites nestled among tall pines, provides a pleasant and natural camping environment.
Currently, the primary promotional aspect of Price Creek Campground, based on the provided reviews, is its affordability, especially for those with an all-access pass. The friendly and helpful camp hosts and the convenient location near Crystal Park can also be considered as strong points of attraction. Local users looking for a budget-friendly camping option with access to a popular local attraction will find Price Creek Campground appealing. However, they must be prepared for the presence of mosquitoes, the need to pack out all trash, and potentially be cautious when using the vault toilets.
In conclusion, Price Creek Campground near Polaris, Montana, offers an affordable and scenic camping experience in a tall pine forest, conveniently located just a short drive from Crystal Park. The campground features both back-in and pull-through sites to accommodate various camping setups. Friendly and proactive camp hosts contribute to a positive atmosphere and provide helpful information. However, potential visitors should be aware of the significant presence of mosquitoes, the lack of trash disposal facilities requiring campers to pack out their waste, and the potentially compromised condition of the vault toilets. The affordability of the campground, especially with the all-access pass discount, makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious local campers willing to manage the environmental factors and limited amenities. It is advisable to be prepared for mosquitoes and to exercise caution when using the restroom facilities.

Price Creek Campground Reviews
This is a great campground! We were here July 2020 for 4 days the cost per night is $8 but they do offer the all access pass discount bringing it to $4 per night. All the outter spots are back in & all the inner loop are pull though. We stayed in a pull through, spot 11 at the very end of the 1st loop. I was a little worried when we left Billings that with it being 1st come 1st serve there wouldn't be any open spots but when we arrived on Monday afternoon there was plenty of open spots. We chose this campground because it is only a few minute drive from Crystal Park. Camp hosts are the 1st spot to the left just inside the entrance, they were very friendly & did come by the 1st night to verify our info I filled out on the payment envelope which I have never had a camp host do before. She chatted with my husband for a few let us know of a bear spotting down the way at another campground. I did see the camp host & her husband drive around the campground every evening which I thought was great! checking spots & making sure there was no trash left. They would wave & ask if everything was going ok if I was out walking my dogs. The only down side was there is alot of mosquitos especially in the evening but it's camping so it's to be expected & i'm one of those people that if there is even 1 mosquito i'll end up with a ton of bites anyway so for us it was what it was. We were glad there were no horse flies or bees. We will be coming back next yr for our yearly trip to Crystal Park. There are no trash cans or dumpsters so plan to haul out your trash.
Aug 04, 2020 · Krystal RobinsonI swung in here for family picinic before going on to Crystal Park. This is a beautiful campground in the tall pines. The area was well used, and the vault toilet had a nice note on the door that said, "Do not close, it will lock you in." The latch was obviously broken. The motorbikes and utvs were roaring around the loops. Not the most pleasant picinic.
Aug 31, 2021 · Brad SmithThis is a wonderful campground. The campground host, Wayne & Betty, made this a special trip for us. They loaned us tools (we forgot) to dig at Crystal Park, stopped by to check on how we did, and the bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen! This couple is a true asset to this beautiful campground! Hope to see them next year when we go back!
Jul 17, 2024 · The Essential PhoenixBeautiful area on hwy 73 in Montana. Restrooms were clean & well stocked. So no trash in campground water is available for drinking & dishes. Spaces are large & easily accessed
Sep 15, 2019 · Marilyn McveyPros: the bathrooms smell decent. Had a fire pit established with grill grate attached & picnic table.Cons: Forest service camp host is aggressive and checks on you frequently. We were kicked out after leaving coolers/unused cookware out for an hour in broad daylight while we enjoyed the nearby hot spring. (For the record, I understand we broke the rules by misunderstanding and we complied and left within 30 minutes but the camp host was VERY aggressive when informing us and threatened us with police when we asked him to please explain to us further what we did wrong) also he was weird about the firewood, he told us not to use any from the campsite but we told him we brought our own from home 2.5 hours away but when he saw it accused us of using his wood just because it was random sticks and logs, he said “he’d been there long enough he knew it was his and could tell by the ash in the fire pit” guy has a screw loose and was convinced we would attract every bear within 100 miles but we did in fact camp else where with no events or problems with other camp hosts so spare yourself the headache and camp at grasshopper or anywhere else. Also bring bug spray
