Toketee Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking "camping near me" that combines natural beauty with recreational opportunities, Toketee Lake Campground, situated at N Umpqua Rd, Roseburg, OR 97471, USA, offers an attractive destination. With a phone number of (541) 957-3200 or mobile at +1 541-957-3200, this campground provides access to a stunning lake, proximity to hot springs and waterfalls, and the chance to enjoy fishing. Reviews from fellow campers highlight its relaxing atmosphere and convenient location for exploring the natural wonders of the area.
The Tranquil Environment of Toketee Lake: The campground's primary appeal lies in its location right by the "Great Lake." This proximity offers campers easy access to the water for various activities and provides a picturesque backdrop for relaxation. Visitors describe it as "definitely a spot to relax and unwind," emphasizing the peaceful ambiance of the area. The natural environment surrounding Toketee Lake appears to be a significant draw, offering a serene escape from the everyday hustle. The presence of the lake itself enhances the camping experience, providing opportunities for leisurely strolls along the shore, enjoying the views, and simply soaking in the tranquility of the natural setting.
Fishing Opportunities: For those who enjoy angling, Toketee Lake is a notable feature. One reviewer specifically advises to "Take your fishing lines with you too," indicating that the lake is a suitable spot for fishing. However, it's important to note that an "Oregon state fishing license" is required, so potential anglers should ensure they have the necessary permits before casting their lines. The combination of a beautiful lake and the opportunity for fishing makes Toketee Lake Campground a desirable option for those seeking "camping near me" with angling in mind.
Proximity to Natural Attractions: Hot Springs and Waterfalls: A significant advantage of Toketee Lake Campground is its strategic location near other natural attractions. It is mentioned to be "right near hot springs and falls," offering campers the chance to explore these wonders with ease. Specifically, one review notes that it is "4 miles from Umpqua hot springs" and that there are "Lots of waterfall hikes nearby." This proximity to Umpqua Hot Springs, known for its therapeutic mineral waters, and numerous waterfall trails adds considerable value to a stay at Toketee Lake Campground, providing opportunities for adventure and relaxation beyond the campground itself.
Campground Amenities: Basic and Functional: Information from the reviews indicates that the campground offers basic yet functional amenities. One reviewer explicitly states, "No water, vault toilets," which is important for potential visitors to be aware of. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply. Vault toilets are a common feature in more rustic campgrounds, and while they serve their purpose, they do not offer the convenience of flush toilets with running water. Despite these basic amenities, the overall positive sentiment suggests that the natural beauty and location more than compensate for the lack of more developed facilities.
Connectivity: Unexpected Verizon Signal: In an interesting piece of information for those who rely on cellular communication, one reviewer mentioned, "FYI- this camp I’m pretty much has a full signal with Verizon, even though the coverage map doesn’t suggest it." This could be a significant benefit for Verizon customers who might have expected limited or no service in this area. While not a guaranteed feature, it's a positive surprise reported by a recent visitor.
Pricing and Reservation Information: Affordable Camping with Seasonal Reservations: Toketee Lake Campground is described as "cheap too," with the cost mentioned as "$10-25/night." This affordability makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious campers looking for "camping near me." However, there is a crucial detail regarding reservations: "Reservation are required from June through Labor Day, otherwise it’s first in first gets it." This means that during the peak summer season and around the Labor Day holiday, advance booking is necessary to secure a campsite. Outside of this period, sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Overall Appeal: Relaxation and Exploration: The general consensus from the reviews is that Toketee Lake Campground is a "Great little campground overall." It offers a combination of a relaxing lakeside environment with opportunities for fishing and easy access to nearby natural attractions like hot springs and waterfalls. The affordability further enhances its appeal, making it a compelling option for local campers seeking a getaway that balances natural beauty with recreational activities.
Recommendations for Local Users: For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Roseburg area, Toketee Lake Campground presents a wonderful opportunity to unwind and explore. If you enjoy fishing, the lake is a significant draw, just remember to obtain an Oregon state fishing license. The close proximity to Umpqua Hot Springs and various waterfall hikes means that there are plenty of activities to fill your days. Be prepared for basic amenities, including no running water and vault toilets, and ensure you bring your own water supply. If you plan to camp between June and Labor Day, remember that reservations are mandatory. For Verizon users, the reported strong signal could be an added bonus. The affordable nightly rate makes this campground an excellent value for those seeking a natural retreat without breaking the bank.
In conclusion, Toketee Lake Campground offers a delightful camping experience near Roseburg, Oregon. Its beautiful lake, fishing opportunities, proximity to hot springs and waterfalls, and affordable pricing make it a standout choice for local campers. Just be sure to plan ahead with reservations during the peak season and come prepared for a more rustic camping experience with basic amenities. The chance to relax by the lake, explore nearby natural wonders, and potentially even enjoy a strong Verizon signal makes Toketee Lake Campground a hidden gem worth discovering for your next "camping near me" adventure.

Toketee Lake Campground Reviews
Great Lake right near hot springs and falls. Definitely a spot to relax and unwind. Take your fishing lines with you too. You’ll need an Oregon state fishing license. $10 per campsite. Reservation are required from June through Labor Day, otherwise it’s first in first gets it.
Nov 27, 2024 · Marcelle AlvernazFYI- this camp I’m pretty much has a full signal with Verizon, even though the coverage map doesn’t suggest it. Great little campground overall. No water, vault toilets, along the river and a nice lake just outside campground. It’s cheap too, $10-25/night. Lots of waterfall hikes nearby and 4 miles from Umpqua hot springs.
May 27, 2024 · stanton cassBeautiful spaced out campground on the river. Close to a bunch of waterfalls. Best off all, the nearest town is 45 miles away. Middle of nowhere. Don't forget your sasquatch repellent.
May 02, 2025 · rounder104Nice campground in a quiet location, the sites were everything we needed to stop by on our road trip. The lake itself is great, a perfect spot to sit by and enjoy nature.
