Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp Introduce
For our local community in the Idleyld Park area and those searching for "camping near me" offering a tranquil and potentially free experience, Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp, located on NF-999, Idleyld Park, OR 97447, USA, presents an appealing option. While a direct phone number isn't provided in the information, this small campground within the Umpqua National Forest offers a unique charm due to its limited number of designated spots and beautiful lakeside setting.
The environment at Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp is a significant highlight, described as a "beautiful location, right on a small lake/reservoir." This pristine setting offers campers the opportunity to enjoy waterfront views and potentially engage in activities such as fishing or simply relaxing by the water's edge. The presence of a lake or reservoir often attracts local wildlife, providing opportunities for nature observation. The surrounding Umpqua National Forest is known for its lush greenery, diverse ecosystems, and scenic landscapes, suggesting that campers can expect to be immersed in a natural and peaceful environment. One reviewer noted the campground was "clean," which contributes positively to the overall experience and reflects well on its upkeep.
In terms of services, Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp appears to be a more rustic and basic campground, which is often characteristic of free camping areas within National Forests. One reviewer mentioned a "concrete block building with pit toilet," indicating that restroom facilities are available, albeit of the vault or pit toilet variety. It's important for campers to be prepared for this type of facility. The availability of other amenities such as picnic tables and fire pits seems to be associated with designated campsites. One reviewer noted that while there are only "6 spots," there are "lots of places you could park and pitch a tent" that wouldn't have these specific amenities. This suggests that while the official capacity might be limited, the area offers flexibility for those comfortable with more primitive camping. The fact that the campground is "FREE!" is a significant service in itself, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious campers looking for a natural getaway without camping fees.
A key feature of Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp is its small size, with one reviewer stating it has "Only 6 spots, so never crowded." Another reviewer, staying in September 2023, suggested there might be "probably more" informal camping areas, but the general consensus is that this is a relatively small and uncrowded campground. This limited capacity contributes to a more peaceful and secluded camping experience, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of larger, more developed campgrounds. The friendly atmosphere is also noteworthy, with one reviewer mentioning they "Only met one other family there, but they were very friendly and helpful." This sense of community among the few campers present can enhance the overall enjoyment of the stay.
The campground is also "Pets are definitely welcome," which is a significant feature for many local users who enjoy camping with their animal companions. However, the requirement to "please keep on a leash" is emphasized, ensuring the safety and comfort of all campers and the local wildlife. This pet-friendly policy makes Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp a viable option for those searching for "pet-friendly camping Oregon" in a quieter setting.
Regarding access to the water, one reviewer observed that "The road to the lake looks like it would work for launching a fishing boat... but I didn't see anyone use it." This suggests potential for boating or fishing on the small lake or reservoir, although it's advisable to verify the suitability of the launch area and any regulations regarding boating and fishing on this particular water body with the Umpqua National Forest authorities. The lakeside location itself provides ample opportunities for fishing from the shore and enjoying the scenic beauty of the water.
Given that this is a free campground within a National Forest, it's important for local users to be aware of Leave No Trace principles and to be self-sufficient in terms of supplies and waste management. Campers should bring their own water, be prepared to pack out all trash, and follow regulations regarding campfires to protect the natural environment. Information on current fire restrictions and any specific rules for Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp can typically be found on the Umpqua National Forest website or by contacting their ranger stations.
In conclusion, Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp offers a "great little camp ground!" for local users seeking a quiet and beautiful lakeside camping experience near Idleyld Park. Its small size, often leading to an uncrowded environment, and the fact that it is free make it a particularly attractive option. The pet-friendly policy is another significant draw for many. While amenities are basic, with pit toilets being the only explicitly mentioned facility, the stunning natural setting right on the lake or reservoir provides a valuable trade-off for those prioritizing tranquility and natural beauty. Local campers interested in a peaceful retreat with potential for fishing and enjoying a lakeside environment should consider Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp. Remember to check for any specific regulations or advisories from the Umpqua National Forest before your trip and be prepared for a more rustic camping experience.

Lemolo #2 Forebay Forest Camp Reviews
Great little camp ground! Only 6 spots, so never crowded.
May 13, 2022 · Sunshine EsperStayed here in Sept 2023. Others say there are six spaces, but there are probably more, as there are lots of places you could park and pitch a tent. It just wouldn't have the picnic table and fire pit. Beautiful location, right on a small lake/reservoir. Clean. FREE! Only met one other family there, but they were very friendly and helpful. Concrete block building with pit toilet. Pets are definitely welcome, but please keep on a leash. The road to the lake looks like it would work for launching a fishing boat... but I didn't see anyone use it.
Oct 06, 2023 · Mark TollefsonMy bf has been camping here for years, but it was my first time. The campground is small, 6 spots I think, and was very quiet and the restroom was clean and stocked. The water was low and there was a lot of grass, but I dont go to fish. My bf got me to walk around the forebay with him under the guise of "there should be a trail", he meant game trail. It was very brushy with a lot of windfall and for someone like me it was quite an adveture. He does that for fun. My dog, who has never been camping, had such a good time stomping and running through the brush. I followed her quite a bit, she found the easier route. Anyway, I highly recommend checking out this site.
Aug 02, 2020 · JessiSuper nice and quiet! This is by far the nicest free camp site I have ever visited. I stayed here overnight in my caper van. The site provides fire pits, picnic tables, and a restroom. I would definitly stay here again when visiting Umpqua national forest.
