Poole Creek Campground

Idleyld Park, OR 97447, USA

4.0
There are some nice campsites along the lake. We had a great lakeside spot with a sandy beach. This was a perfect spot for kids to swim. We enjoyed meals at provided picnic tables. There was a fire pit in our camp and a running water faucet across the site from us. There are no electric or water hookups. There’s lots of mosquitoes in July. Restroom is a Porta-Potty. . . But for a $15 per night site, this is great! - Megan V

Poole Creek Campground Introduce

For local users in Oregon seeking an affordable and scenic "camping near me," Poole Creek Campground, located in Idleyld Park, OR 97447, USA, and reachable by phone at (877) 444-6777 or mobile at +1 877-444-6777, presents an attractive option for a budget-friendly outdoor experience. Situated in a region rich with natural beauty and recreational opportunities, Poole Creek Campground offers lakeside campsites and convenient access to numerous attractions, making it a worthwhile consideration for various types of campers.

The environment of Poole Creek Campground is a significant draw, with reviewers highlighting "nice campsites along the lake" and a "great lakeside spot with a sandy beach." This suggests a picturesque setting directly on the shores of Lemolo Lake, providing opportunities for relaxation by the water and potentially swimming. The sandy beach is specifically noted as "a perfect spot for kids to swim," making it an appealing destination for families with young children. Campers can also enjoy the "great view of Lemolo Lake" from the campground. While one review mentions "lots of mosquitoes in July," this seems to be a seasonal consideration and highlights the natural, lakeside environment of the campground. The presence of running water faucets across the site, although without individual hookups, adds a level of convenience for basic water needs.

In terms of services, Poole Creek Campground offers essential amenities for a comfortable, albeit rustic, camping experience. Reviewers mention "provided picnic tables" at the campsites, making meal preparation and enjoyment convenient. Each campsite also features a "fire pit," allowing for campfires and outdoor cooking (subject to local regulations and fire safety guidelines). The availability of a "running water faucet across the site" provides access to water for drinking and washing, though campers should note the absence of individual water hookups. Similarly, the campground does not offer electric hookups, making it more suitable for tent campers or RVers who are self-sufficient in terms of power. It's important to note that the restroom facility is a "Porta-Potty," which is a basic amenity often found in more rustic or budget-friendly campgrounds. However, considering the very affordable price of "$15 per night," many campers may find this acceptable.

The features of Poole Creek Campground extend beyond the campsite amenities to its prime location. One of the most significant features is its direct access to Lemolo Lake, offering opportunities for swimming, potentially boating or kayaking (though not explicitly mentioned), and enjoying the lakeside scenery. The sandy beach area is a notable feature for families. Furthermore, the campground's location is described as being in a "great area" with easy access to several prominent natural attractions. "Lemolo Falls" is noted as being "right down the road," suggesting a very short drive to this beautiful waterfall. Its proximity to "Crater Lake" (about 30 minutes away) makes it a convenient base for exploring this national park. Similarly, it's about 30 minutes from "Toketee Falls and the hot springs" (likely Umpqua Hot Springs), offering further opportunities for waterfall viewing and soaking in natural hot springs. The area also boasts "Diamond Lake" and "multiple different hikes," catering to a variety of outdoor interests, from scenic drives and lake activities to more adventurous hiking trails. The combination of lakeside camping at an affordable price and its strategic location near numerous natural wonders makes Poole Creek Campground a highly attractive option for local users looking for "camping near me" with access to diverse activities.

Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for Poole Creek Campground. However, its already very affordable nightly rate of $15 could be considered a significant draw in itself, especially when compared to campgrounds with more developed amenities. Campgrounds managed by public entities like the Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management often maintain relatively low rates to provide access to outdoor recreation for a wider range of users. For local users interested in potentially even lower rates, it might be worth inquiring about any possible off-season discounts or multi-night stay offers, although these are not mentioned in the reviews. Given its popularity due to its location and affordability, it's advisable for local campers to make reservations in advance, especially during peak seasons like summer, to secure a campsite.

In conclusion, Poole Creek Campground near Idleyld Park, Oregon, offers an appealing "camping near me" experience for local users seeking a budget-friendly lakeside getaway with excellent access to a wealth of natural attractions. The beautiful lakeside campsites, complete with sandy beach access for swimming, picnic tables, and fire rings, provide a comfortable base for outdoor activities. While the amenities are somewhat rustic, with no electric or individual water hookups and Porta-Potty restrooms, the incredibly affordable price of $15 per night makes it a great value. Its prime location, just a short drive from Lemolo Falls, Crater Lake, Toketee Falls and the hot springs, and near Diamond Lake and numerous hiking trails, caters to a wide range of outdoor interests. Despite the potential for mosquitoes in July, the overall positive reviews highlight the enjoyable environment and convenient location. For local campers looking for an affordable and well-situated basecamp to explore the natural wonders of Southern Oregon, Poole Creek Campground is definitely worth considering, especially for those who prioritize location and value over extensive amenities.
