Little Lick Campground Introduce
For local residents of Kentucky and those in neighboring areas seeking a peaceful and secluded 'camping near me' experience, Little Lick Campground, located off Old Whitney Rd in Somerset, KY 42501, USA, presents an interesting option. You can reach them at (859) 745-3100 or their mobile number +1 859-745-3100 for inquiries. Based on the available customer reviews, Little Lick Campground offers a serene environment ideal for relaxation, though potential visitors should be aware of certain considerations regarding water sources and the surrounding area.
One recent visitor described Little Lick Campground as a "Great place to relax," highlighting the strong Verizon cell service available at the location. The campground's setting at the end of a well-graveled dead-end road ensures a notable lack of traffic, contributing to the peaceful atmosphere. The reviewer also noted that the access road is a one-lane road with plenty of turns, naturally encouraging a slower pace of travel, which can enhance the sense of escape and tranquility upon arrival. Interestingly, this reviewer also mentioned the presence of non-civilian drones in the air during the day and evening, a unique observation that might be of interest or concern depending on individual preferences.
Another visitor provided a contrasting piece of crucial information regarding water availability. They stated that "despite what you may hear/read," the only water source they and other campers were aware of was a "very small shallow stream" located about 1-2 miles down a trail to the left. This discovery was attributed to their bloodhound, suggesting that the stream might be easily overlooked. This review emphasizes the importance of campers being prepared and potentially bringing their own water supply, as reliable on-site water sources may be limited or non-existent. Despite this significant concern about water, the reviewer still found Little Lick Campground to be a "perfect Serene getaway" and appreciated the opportunity to meet "very lovely people from around the country," indicating a positive social aspect to the camping experience.
Combining these reviews, the environment of Little Lick Campground appears to be characterized by tranquility and seclusion. Its location at the end of a dead-end road minimizes traffic noise and enhances the sense of being away from it all. The surrounding area likely features natural terrain, possibly wooded, given the presence of a trail leading to a stream. The mention of a one-lane access road with curves suggests a rural and potentially scenic drive to the campground. The presence of drones, while unusual for a typical campground, indicates some level of activity or surveillance in the area that may or may not be directly related to the campground itself.
In terms of services and features, the limited information suggests a more primitive camping experience. The absence of readily apparent water sources on-site implies that campers should be self-sufficient in their water needs. The "well-graveled" dead-end road indicates some level of maintenance for accessibility. The mention of a trail suggests opportunities for hiking and exploration in the surrounding area. Given the lack of information about specific amenities like restrooms, fire pits, or designated campsites, it is reasonable to assume that these might be basic or limited. Potential visitors should be prepared for a more rustic and self-supported camping style.
The primary feature of Little Lick Campground seems to be its serene and secluded atmosphere, making it an attractive option for local users seeking a quiet escape from the stresses of daily life. The positive feedback regarding relaxation and the meeting of friendly fellow campers suggests a welcoming and community-oriented environment, despite the potential challenges related to water. The strong Verizon cell service is an added convenience for those who need to stay connected. However, the unusual presence of non-civilian drones might be a point of consideration for some individuals.
As there is no specific promotional information available, local users interested in Little Lick Campground should directly contact the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, availability, specific amenities offered (if any), and the current status of water sources on or near the property. It would be prudent to ask for detailed directions, given its location off Old Whitney Road and the one-lane access road with turns. Inquiring about any guidelines or regulations for campers, as well as any information regarding the drones observed in the area, would also be beneficial.
For local residents searching within the 'camping near me' category who prioritize peace, quiet, and a sense of being removed from traffic and noise, Little Lick Campground appears to be a promising option. The positive reviews regarding its relaxing atmosphere and the friendly community of campers are significant draws. However, the critical information about the limited and potentially distant water source cannot be overlooked. Potential visitors must be prepared to bring their own water or have a reliable method for purifying water from the stream mentioned in the review. Understanding the level of amenities available and the nature of the surrounding environment through direct communication with the campground management is essential for a well-prepared and enjoyable experience at Little Lick Campground.
In conclusion, Little Lick Campground near Somerset, KY, offers a tranquil and secluded camping experience that has been appreciated by visitors for its relaxing atmosphere and friendly community. However, potential local campers should be aware of the limited information regarding on-site amenities, particularly the potentially scarce water source, and the unusual presence of non-civilian drones. Direct communication with the campground is strongly recommended to obtain comprehensive and up-to-date information before planning a visit to this serene local getaway.

Little Lick Campground Reviews
Great place to relax. Verizon is well. At the end of a well graveled dead end road so no traffic. We'll maintained and the road is a one lane so easy on speed as turns aplenty. Drones are in the air on any given day oy evening. Not Civilian.
Nov 30, 2022 · George McIntireDespite what you may hear/read the only water source us and the other campers know of is a very small shallow stream to the left of the trail about 1-2 miles down. If it was not for my bloodhound we would have missed it completely. Otherwise it is the perfect Serene getaway and we were able to meet some very lovely people from around the country.
May 24, 2022 · Cat GolightlyToilets were not set up as of last weekend, perhaps because it was early in the season.Five miles down a well-maintained gravel road, easy access even with a sports car.Access to hiking trails. It was pleasant after the RV turned off its generator but I used earplugs before that. Good distance between sites but that noise carried.Just a couple bugs and not bothersome.Set up at the end to get a view of sunset. Was nearly full even on a Sunday night.
Mar 28, 2023 · Stephen PaylorThis is a very quiet and secluded campground. Though it is designated as a horse camp, there were no horses in the five days I was there. There is no running water. They did have two port-a-potties next to the beginning of the trail. Make sure to take your bug repellent.
