Adirondack Gateway Campground Introduce
Searching for "camping near me" that offers a more secluded and rustic experience in the Adirondack region of New York? Adirondack Gateway Campground, located at 244 Burt Rd, Cold Brook, NY 13324, USA, presents itself as a small and quiet campground nestled in a somewhat remote setting. Based on recent customer reviews, this family-owned campground offers a tranquil environment and some basic amenities, making it a potential option for those seeking a low-key and nature-focused getaway. However, it's important for local users to be aware of its rustic nature and limited on-site activities.
The environment of Adirondack Gateway Campground is consistently described as "rustic" and "quiet," situated "in the middle of nowhere." This remote location suggests a peaceful and potentially secluded setting, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. While one reviewer noted that some of the "outbuildings are a little run down," they also observed that "the grounds are well kept," indicating that the essential areas of the campground are maintained. The presence of "green" surroundings, implied by its location near the Adirondacks, likely contributes to a natural and tranquil ambiance. However, potential campers should be prepared for a more natural and less developed environment compared to larger, more amenity-rich campgrounds. The mix of seasonal sites, many of which are reported to be "well kept with newer units," suggests a community of longer-term residents who appreciate the quiet and rustic charm of the location.
The services and features at Adirondack Gateway Campground appear to be somewhat basic but cater to essential camping needs. One of the mentioned amenities is a "pool," although one reviewer noted it was covered by heavy plastic, presumably for maintenance or seasonal protection. The presence of a pool can be a significant draw for campers looking to cool off during the summer months. The campground also provides "bathrooms," which are a fundamental necessity for any camping facility. Additionally, one positive review mentions "a hiking trail too," indicating an opportunity for guests to explore the natural surroundings on foot. The owner, Ann, is specifically mentioned as being "very nice" by one reviewer, suggesting friendly and personal service. However, it's important to note that one review explicitly states, "There are no activities," which might be a consideration for families with children or those seeking organized entertainment.
A key feature of Adirondack Gateway Campground is its quiet and secluded atmosphere. For local users prioritizing peace and tranquility during their camping trip, this could be a significant advantage. The small size of the campground likely contributes to this quiet environment, fostering a more intimate and relaxed setting compared to larger, more crowded campgrounds. The family-owned nature of the campground often translates to a more personal touch and a greater sense of care from the owners. The combination of a rustic setting, basic amenities, and a quiet atmosphere may appeal to experienced campers who are self-sufficient and primarily seeking a peaceful base for exploring the surrounding area.
The reviews also provide some context regarding the local area. One reviewer mentioned that "Other than the Herkimer Diamond Mines, there's nothing do here" in terms of attractions directly adjacent to the campground. This suggests that while the campground itself offers a quiet retreat, campers might need to travel a bit further to access a wider range of activities and attractions. The Herkimer Diamond Mines, known for their unique quartz crystals, are a notable point of interest in the region and could be a potential day trip for those staying at Adirondack Gateway Campground. This highlights the importance for local users to consider their preferences for on-site versus off-site activities when evaluating this campground.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. The feedback is primarily focused on the nature of the campground and the experiences of individual visitors. For local users considering Adirondack Gateway Campground for their "camping near me" search, the key takeaways are its rustic and quiet environment, its basic amenities including a pool, bathrooms, and a hiking trail, and its proximity to the Herkimer Diamond Mines. The friendly owner is also a positive aspect mentioned. However, the lack of organized activities and the somewhat remote location might not appeal to all campers. To inquire about specific rates, availability, the current status of the pool, and any potential seasonal promotions, contacting the campground directly at (315) 826-5335 or +1 315-826-5335 is recommended. This will allow potential guests to get a clearer picture of what to expect and determine if Adirondack Gateway Campground aligns with their preferences for a rustic and quiet camping experience in the Adirondack region.
In conclusion, Adirondack Gateway Campground offers a small, rustic, and quiet camping experience in a secluded setting near Cold Brook, NY. Its basic amenities, including a pool, bathrooms, and a hiking trail, cater to essential camping needs, while its family-owned nature suggests a personal touch. The campground's proximity to the Herkimer Diamond Mines offers a local attraction for exploration. However, its lack of organized activities and somewhat remote location might not suit all campers. Local users seeking a peaceful and nature-focused getaway should consider Adirondack Gateway Campground, but it's advisable to contact them directly for detailed information to ensure it meets their specific requirements for "camping near me."

Adirondack Gateway Campground Reviews
Full disclosure before my review:You may like this type of campground, but it wasn't for us.Very rustic, small, quiet campground in the middle of nowhere. Outbuildings are a little run down. There is a pool, but it was covered by heavy plastic, I guess to keep leaves out or grass clippings. It appears that the grounds are well kept. Most of the seasonal sites are well kept with newer units. There are no activities. We stayed here based on other reviews. Unfortunately, we can't say we agreed. We stayed one night.Other than the Herkimer Diamond Mines, there's nothing do here. The owner, Ann, was very nice.
Jun 17, 2024 · GaleBeautiful quiet place to be at. They have an in ground pool and bathrooms. There is a hiking trail too. Overall nice place and family owned.
Jun 04, 2024 · MikeThis has been one of my favourite campgrounds on our entire trip! I was really nervous after looking at the website and seeing they don't accept online bookings. However they put us in a back in opposite a huge field, full hookups, lots of trails and places to run the dogs, great internet! . Laundry facility was good. Restrooms are a little dated but we don't need to use those as we have the RV. The owners are just so lovely and kind. Really enjoyed our stay here. Will upload more photos as I get them
Aug 26, 2023 · Natalie WarrinerThis place is a really nice campground. The sites were spacious and had full hook ups. We had a pull through and it was level and very easy to set up at. The people were all so friendly, we felt very comfortable here.
