Laurel Lake Camping Resort Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Corbin, Kentucky area, Laurel Lake Camping Resort, situated at 80 Robert E. Blair Memorial Highway, presents a camping destination with a range of experiences, as reflected in recent customer feedback. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the campground based on the available reviews, highlighting both positive and negative aspects to help local campers make informed decisions.
One positive aspect of Laurel Lake Camping Resort, frequently mentioned, is the exceptional service provided by at least one of their camp hosts. A recent reviewer enthusiastically shared, "Our camp host Kim was absolutely amazing and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Will absolutely stay here again." This positive feedback indicates that some members of the staff are dedicated to ensuring a pleasant and well-supported camping experience. The presence of a helpful and attentive camp host can significantly enhance a stay, providing assistance and ensuring that campers' needs are met. For local users who value good customer service, this positive mention of a camp host is a noteworthy point.
However, alongside the positive feedback, a more detailed and critical review raises several concerns that potential local campers should consider. This reviewer, a returning customer, noted a negative change in their experience compared to a previous Halloween visit. One significant issue highlighted was the discrepancy between booked and assigned campsites. The reviewer stated, "Our sites were all wrong and a few of us had trouble getting our large fifth wheels into the very small back in sites. I know for a fact we booked pull through sites for that very reason because not all of your spots are long enough for our trailers." This indicates potential problems with the accuracy of reservations and the suitability of assigned sites for the type and size of camping equipment, particularly for those with larger RVs. For local users with specific site requirements, such as pull-through access for larger vehicles, it would be prudent to confirm site details meticulously when booking.
Another significant issue raised by the same reviewer concerns billing and payment. They reported being told they hadn't paid on their reservation from the previous year and were subsequently charged for all three nights of their recent stay, despite the campground's policy of requiring payment at the time of booking. This discrepancy in reservation records and billing processes is a serious concern, as it can lead to unexpected charges and frustration for campers. Local users considering Laurel Lake Camping Resort should ensure they receive clear confirmation of their booking and payment status to avoid potential financial disputes upon arrival.
Furthermore, the detailed negative review also described a disruptive experience with neighboring campers who were identified as the "tractor driver for the haunted trail and his family." The reviewer recounted instances of excessive noise and confrontational behavior, including complaints about children playing outside before quiet hours and the early morning operation of a loud golf cart. The alleged involvement of an employee and their family in such disruptive behavior is particularly concerning, as it reflects poorly on the overall atmosphere and management of the campground. For local users seeking a peaceful and respectful camping environment, this account raises serious questions about the enforcement of campground rules and the behavior of some individuals on the property.
The specific incidents described in the negative review include a noise complaint made by the employee's wife about children playing hide and seek at 8:30 pm (with quiet time not until 11:00 pm) leading to security intervention, and the employee and his family allegedly driving a loud golf cart back and forth at 7:00 am, followed by a loud argument. These incidents suggest a potential lack of consideration for fellow campers and a possible inconsistency in the enforcement of campground quiet hours. Local users who value a peaceful night's rest and a family-friendly atmosphere should take these accounts into consideration.
The concluding statement from the dissatisfied reviewer, "OUR WHOLE GROUP WILL FIND A BETTER ESTABLISHMENT TO SPEND OUR LONG HALLOWEEN WEEKEND WITH NEXT YEAR," underscores the severity of their negative experience and suggests that these issues were significant enough to deter repeat business from a group. This strong reaction should serve as a cautionary note for other local users, particularly those planning group camping trips or stays during peak seasons like Halloween.
Given the stark contrast between the positive feedback regarding the camp host and the multiple serious issues raised in the other review, it is challenging to provide a definitive assessment of the overall environment and services at Laurel Lake Camping Resort. It appears that while some aspects, such as the helpfulness of certain staff members, can be positive, there are potential drawbacks related to reservation accuracy, site suitability, billing practices, and the behavior of some campers (including those associated with the campground staff). Local users considering this "camping near me" option should weigh these contrasting experiences carefully.
Information regarding specific services and amenities at Laurel Lake Camping Resort is limited in the provided reviews. Typically, campgrounds offer a range of services such as restroom and shower facilities, water and electrical hookups for RVs, picnic tables, and fire rings. Some may also include additional amenities like laundry facilities, recreational areas, or Wi-Fi access. Given the mention of RVs and pull-through/back-in sites, it can be inferred that the campground caters to RV campers. However, for a comprehensive list of available amenities and services, local users are advised to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (606) 526-7876 or mobile +1 606-526-7876.
Similarly, the provided text does not contain any specific promotional information for Laurel Lake Camping Resort. Local users interested in learning about current rates, seasonal specials, or any discounts for local residents should reach out to the campground directly via phone or their website (if available). Asking about their reservation policies, particularly regarding site assignments and payment procedures, would also be beneficial given the issues raised in the reviews.
In conclusion, Laurel Lake Camping Resort near Corbin, KY, presents a mixed picture for local users seeking "camping near me." While some visitors have experienced excellent service from staff members like the camp host Kim, other recent experiences highlight significant concerns regarding reservation accuracy, site suitability for larger RVs, billing issues, and disruptive behavior from other campers, including those associated with the campground. Potential local campers should carefully consider these points and are strongly encouraged to contact the campground directly to inquire about current conditions, policies, and to ensure their specific needs can be met before making a reservation.

Laurel Lake Camping Resort Reviews
We had the best weekend here! Our camp host Kim was absolutely amazing and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Will absolutely stay here again.
Mar 24, 2025 · Jennifer DavidsonNot sure what changed between our last Halloween here and our most recent trip but I can tell you it’s not a change for good. Our sites were all wrong and a few of us had trouble getting our large fifth wheels into the very small back in sites. I know for a fact we booked pull through sites for that very reason because not all of your spots are long enough for our trailers. I also was told I didn’t pay anything on my reservation when I booked last year and was charged for all 3 nights! You have to pay when you book and I booked last year! Not to mention the tractor driver for the haunted trail and his family were the worst camping neighbors I have ever experienced in my 10 years of camping. The wife started complaining about our kids playing outside at 8:30pm and she had security at our site before 10:00pm because we were being too loud. Quite time is not till 11:00 and our kids ages 6-16 were all playing hide and seek and having fun. Then the next morning the Tractor driver and his family decided to act like trash and started driving their extremely loud golf cart back and fourth in front of our campers slinging grab at 7:00am then proceed to have a legit screaming match. Jokes on them we were all already awake and watched them in aww that people actually acted that way and involved their kids in acting that way. This entire establishment should be ashamed of the behavior I witnessed from an employee and his family. OUR WHOLE GROUP WILL FIND A BETTER ESTABLISHMENT TO SPEND OUR LONG HALLOWEEN WEEKEND WITH NEXT YEAR.
Oct 29, 2024 · Racheal MaysHands down one of our most favorite places to camp. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating to our needs. We feel like family there. The activities keep the kids busy during the summer. The Wobble Wave is a must! We have been three times this season. They are working on some things too!
Nov 10, 2024 · Stephanie ThorpeWe just stayed 4 days at LL. We had a great visit and enjoyed our time here. I would love to give a different rating, because the service from the staff was excellent. However, there are 3 issues that we encountered.1. There is very poor lighting at the bathhouse. We didn’t use it, but had a woman been by herself and needed it, it was dim and dangerous getting to it. They are very clean and well maintained otherwise.2. Somehow, even after I called and checked twice, they failed to not hat the internet is not free. You do have to pay a company for access. But, it was excellent internet.3. I can’t speak for all the sites, but ours needed to be graded and leveled. We had great difficulty getting our automatic levelers set.One other thing that you need to know is that our GPS would not take the address listed. Because of that, it took us through KY1003, which is NOT a road you really want to take a 31 ft class C towing down! Go off of 75 to get there! All in all, we definitely would recommend this campground and we will return!
Oct 17, 2024 · Karen DukesThis campground is OK. Pro: We have a camper and the spots were spacious and clean. They have activities on the weekends that were fun. The kids really enjoyed the wobble and water. There are playgrounds and inflatables for the kids.Cons: It's difficult to ride your bike. It is completely uphill and the gravel makes it rough. We rented a golf cart for 2 days and the first one died so they gave us another one. The second one they gave us a charger but it wouldn't charge and we had to push it back to the front. They seem to never answer the phones when you call. And the lights in the bathhouse will turn off while you are showering. The waterfall trail was nice but you don't really get a good look at the waterfall.Overall: We will probably find another campground when staying in the area.
