You can reach them at (815) 472-4171 or via mobile at +1 815-472-4171 to inquire about availability and plan your visit. Based on recent customer reviews, Lake Alexander Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, friendly atmosphere, and well-maintained facilities, making it an ideal destination for both novice and experienced campers.
The environment of Lake Alexander Campground is consistently described as beautiful and peaceful. Situated alongside Lake Alexander, it provides opportunities for various water-related activities such as fishing and enjoying the beach area. One reviewer specifically mentions the "beautiful and accommodating" campsite, indicating spaciousness and comfort. The walk to the river is also highlighted as a "beautiful and peaceful" experience, suggesting scenic trails and opportunities for quiet contemplation in nature. Certain areas of the campground, specifically sites 24-30 and 31-38, are noted for being located in a "cove of trees," offering a particularly picturesque and shaded camping environment for those who prefer wooded sites. While one reviewer mentioned distant train noise, they also acknowledged being informed that Momence is a "train community" and that the noise was primarily noticeable when outside the camper, suggesting that the overall environment within the campground remains largely serene.
In terms of services and features, Lake Alexander Campground appears to prioritize guest comfort and convenience. The bathrooms are repeatedly mentioned as being "very clean" and the showers are praised for having "great pressure" and "hot water," which are essential amenities for a comfortable camping experience. Each campsite is equipped with fire pits and picnic tables, allowing for traditional camping activities like campfires and outdoor dining. The presence of a designated fishing area and a beach area caters to those who enjoy water-based recreation. For RV campers, the spacious sites offer "plenty of room to set up and be comfy," as noted by a first-time camper. The well-maintained nature of the campground further contributes to a positive guest experience.
The staff at Lake Alexander Campground, particularly someone named Chris, are consistently described as "very friendly" and helpful, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere. This positive interaction with the campground management can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, especially for newcomers who might have questions or need assistance. The willingness of the staff to inform guests about local characteristics, such as the train community, demonstrates good communication and transparency.
One reviewer experienced an issue with their water hose becoming clogged with a "brown foreign substance," leading to a loss of water pressure. While this was an isolated incident, the reviewer's detailed account provides valuable insight. After cleaning the hose screen and eventually installing a filter, the problem was resolved, and the reviewer, who stayed for about a month, had no further issues. This suggests that while the campground generally has reliable water service, occasional maintenance or awareness of potential water quality issues in personal hoses might be beneficial for long-term stays.
Despite the overall positive feedback, one reviewer noted that the "bath house - restroom needs some attention" and that "bugs were a little bad at sunset," particularly in the all-grass areas. These are typical considerations for any outdoor environment, and the mention of the restroom needing attention suggests that while generally clean, there might be room for improvement in certain aspects of the facilities. Campers should be prepared for the possibility of insects, especially during dusk, and might want to bring appropriate repellents.
Considering the "camping near me" platform, Lake Alexander Campground's strengths in cleanliness, friendly staff, and access to lake and river activities make it an attractive option for local users. The platform would likely highlight the fishing and beach areas, the clean bathrooms and showers, and the peaceful environment as key selling points. The availability of wooded campsites in specific areas (24-38) could also be a draw for those seeking a more natural and shaded setting. The mention of spacious sites accommodating RVs would also appeal to RV owners in the local area looking for a convenient getaway.
Features that local users might want to inquire about when contacting Lake Alexander Campground could include the specific amenities available at each campsite (e.g., electrical hookups, water hookups), the availability of any on-site recreational facilities beyond the lake and beach (e.g., playgrounds, hiking trails), and any specific rules or regulations regarding campfires, pets, or quiet hours. Information about the types of fish in Lake Alexander and any regulations regarding fishing licenses might also be of interest to anglers.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not contain any details about discounts or special offers. Local users searching for "camping near me" at Lake Alexander Campground should contact them directly via phone or check their website (if one exists) to inquire about seasonal rates, any discounts for local residents, or special packages for weekend or extended stays. Given its appeal to both short-term visitors and those seeking longer getaways, there might be various pricing options available depending on the duration of the stay and the type of campsite chosen.
In conclusion, Lake Alexander Campground offers a delightful "camping near me" experience in Momence, Illinois. Its beautiful lakeside setting, coupled with clean facilities and a friendly staff, makes it a welcoming destination for a variety of campers. The availability of fishing, a beach area, and scenic river walks provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Lake Alexander Campground Reviews
My husband and I took our camper for its Maiden voyage here and it was perfect! Everyone was so nice. The site was beautiful and accommodating to us newbies. Plenty of room to set up and be comfy. The fishing area and beach area are very nice and the walk to the river is beautiful and peaceful. Bathrooms were very clean and everything is well taken care of. We're already talking about going back before the season is over. There are two beautiful areas that are in a cove of trees, 24-30 and 31-38. Showers are clean, pressure is great, water is hot. Firepits and picnic tables for each site.
Jun 11, 2024 · Kimmie AlbersThank you Chris for a wonderful stay. Everyone was very friendly, and other than trains in the distance was very peaceful and quiet. I heard the trains when I was outside, not inside my camper and was told this was a train community so I knew what I was getting into. Bath house - restroom needs some attention. Bugs were a little bad at sunset and lots were all grass. Also had an issue, with water hose. Initially worked fine, then about 3-4 days in lost all water pressure. Pulled hose from camper and inlet screen was completed covered with brown foreign substance. Removed and went to purchase filter from Walmart. By the time I returned, screen was about 75% covered again. After installing filter, never had problem again. Was there for about 1 month. When I left, I checked the inlet screen on filter and camper and had no substance - perhaps was in the water hose itself.
Sep 06, 2018 · Perry GuilfordWent tent camping again after a ten year break and found this spot. Chris was very nice and helpful, great to work with. This location was about an hour away from the Chicago suburbs so a perfect weekend getaway. Exactly what we were looking for! Bathrooms / showers were nice and clean. Electric, water, fire pit and picnic table at the site. We were lucky it wasn’t busy so we selected a quiet private spot in the back. I do worry if it was busier or a holiday weekend we would be closer to other campers and it wouldn’t have been as nice and private. Some of the spots did look close to each other if it was busier, but luckily that wasn’t the case for us. Overall a great place to camp, would recommend and will be back!
May 14, 2023 · Andy KadisakWe were very happy with our stay. Great amenities, clean remodeled bathrooms/showers, small playground with swings. The private beach along the river was our favorite part. The owners couldn’t have been more lovely and kind.
Jul 25, 2022 · S KAlexander RV campgrounds are the best in camping. Whether you are there for a day, a weekend, six months, or a year, this is the only place to go.The size makes this place unique. It’s been in the family for generations, Riverside fishing, fantastic showers, firewood, and phenomenal oak trees. Open Skies to watch the stars. Wild flocks of birds to enliven the evenings. I can’t say enough good things about camping at Alexander.Chris Kwak and their family are top-notch, attentive, productive, inventive, and caring. For contractors, there is no better way to handle a long job then staying at the Alexander RV camp spot. Bring a tent, bring a truck, get a camper, to keep your crew while you’re working on a big project. This place is respectful of your nights, everyone is helpful.
