Lake Holiday Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in Indiana? Look no further! This introduction will provide you with a detailed overview of Lake Holiday campground, located at 11780 IN-10, De Motte, IN 46310, USA. You can reach them at (219) 345-3132 or +1 219-345-3132. Based on information available online, including reviews from fellow campers, let's explore what Lake Holiday has to offer.
Lake Holiday presents a unique camping environment. Some visitors describe it as a "different kind of campground," noting a mix of what appear to be pseudo-permanent residents alongside more transient campers. You might observe a variety of camping setups, from older, more "tired looking" campers and trailer park models to newer RVs. This blend creates a somewhat distinct atmosphere within the grounds.
The layout of the campground seems quite extensive, with "hundreds" of spots connected by numerous turns and switchbacks, which some might find a bit confusing to navigate initially. Campsites are described as being in close proximity to one another, which may limit privacy, particularly for those who are car camping. Open spots previously used for campers might place car campers within 20 to 30 feet of their neighbors. Some reviewers mentioned a lack of tree cover in these areas and the presence of lights, radios, or TVs at various campsites, potentially impacting the tranquility of the experience, especially at night due to reported nightly gatherings or parties.
For those with RVs or camper vans, Lake Holiday appears to offer sites with electric and water hookups, which could be a significant advantage for a longer stay or those requiring these amenities. The campground might cater more towards individuals seeking a "pseudo Permanent campground" to park their camper.
In terms of facilities, positive feedback highlights the cleanliness of the bathrooms, which some campers described as "spotless" and the "cleanest campground bathrooms I've ever seen." The grounds are also generally reported to be "maintained pretty well." The gate staff and "rangers" were consistently mentioned as being "very friendly," which contributes positively to the overall visitor experience upon arrival and interaction with campground personnel.
The name "Lake Holiday" suggests the presence of water, and indeed, the campground features a "decent sized pond/small lake." While one reviewer noted they didn't have the opportunity to visit the camp store, the presence of a body of water implies potential for related activities, although specific details about these were not consistently mentioned.
However, it's important to consider some of the less positive feedback shared by other campers. One reviewer described their experience as "terrible," citing concerns about lot owners potentially influencing the stay of renters if they were not perceived to "fit the look." This review also mentioned instances of employees allegedly yelling at a child, strict and potentially impractical rules regarding pets and water toys, frequent shouting by a ranger, and issues with utility services such as water and electricity being shut off for extended periods without notice. Furthermore, this review reported a pool closure due to inappropriate behavior and a perceived lack of activities for children, painting a picture of a less than peaceful environment.
Another comment pointed out the proximity of the campground to a couple of nudist camps/colonies, which might be a factor of interest or disinterest depending on individual preferences.
Considering the mixed reviews, Lake Holiday appears to be a campground with both strengths and weaknesses. The clean facilities and friendly staff are definite positives. For those with RVs looking for a site with hookups, particularly those interested in a more long-term or semi-permanent arrangement, it might be a viable option. However, potential visitors, especially those looking for a quiet, private car camping experience or families with young children seeking a wide range of amenities and a relaxed atmosphere, should weigh the reported concerns about privacy, noise, rules, and utility reliability carefully.
As a platform focusing on "camping near me," we aim to provide you with a comprehensive view to help you make informed decisions. Lake Holiday offers a unique blend of long-term and short-term camping, set within a potentially large and somewhat complex layout. While the cleanliness of amenities and the friendliness of staff are commendable, the experiences shared by some visitors regarding privacy, noise, rules, and overall atmosphere suggest that it might be better suited for certain types of campers than others. We encourage you to consider these aspects alongside your personal camping preferences when deciding on your next outdoor adventure in the De Motte, Indiana area.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Lake Holiday presents itself as an option with a lake, clean facilities, and friendly service, but with a social dynamic and set of rules that potential visitors should be aware of based on the experiences shared by others.

Lake Holiday Reviews
Different kind of camp ground.Sites are pseudo permanent. A lot of old and tired looking campers, trailer park models, and broke down looking RV's are in about 1/3 of the spots here. The remaining are newer, better condition campers. That alone was kinda strange. The "lots" are right on top of each other, no real privacy unless you're in your camper. We "car camped" in a spot that was an open spot (previously owned or rented for a camper) your neighbors are about 20 to 30 feet away from you. Car camping here sucked... only because you have no real privacy, no tree cover, every camp site had lights, radios, or tv's playing whatever. The campers there seem to have formed into "clicks." We weren't treated poorly, just not super welcome. Mainly cause we were car camping. There was a gathering or party every night at spots all around us. Again, there is no real privacy or quiet unless it's early in the morning. The bathrooms are spotless... cleanest campground bathrooms I've ever seen. The Grounds are maintained pretty well. The gate staff and "rangers" were all very friendly, which was nice.Despite the weird mix of broke down/tired looking old trailers and campers, if your looking for a pseudo Permanent campground to park your camper in, and it's only a few miles away from a couple nudist camps/colonies, this may be the place for you. Clean grounds and bathrooms, place had a decent sized pond/small lake. We never made it into the camp store, so I can't comment on that. I'm not sure what other amenities they have here. There looked to be hundreds and I mean HUNDREDS of spots in this park with turns and switch backs a plenty, which makes navigation through the park kinda confusing.Would not reccomend for car camping. If you have a camper van or rv and want a place to stay (each site looked to have electric and water hook ups)Then this place may be for you
Oct 27, 2024 · Eric KelsoTerrible campground. Lot owners constantly push out renters if they don't like them or fit the look. Employees yelled at my 3-year-old like he was an adult because he went down the water slide the wrong way ( he doesn't know any better and is trying to enjoy his weekend) you can have your dogs locked on your fenced porch that is to small and easily can get over but not an easily accessible cage to go from inside to out to use the restroom for easy clean up. Larger dogs are constantly barking and almost jumping over porches to try to attack my puppies and smaller children. Not allowed to have any type of water toys or small blow up pools in your lot ( even if your watching) due to drowning concern of kids wondering around even though there is a giant lake right in the center of the campground with no life guard on duty. Ranger is always screaming at someone like he is the police and threating to write tickets out. Water is always shut off for hours with no eta on when it will be back on, electric is always going out as well for long periods of time with no eta on that. Teenagers got caught having sex in the public pool and it got shut down. Cops are always here for something. No activities for children, the park has little to almost nothing there! Not a campground for a peaceful get away. I've been renting for about 4 months now and nothing has changed or been accommodated for wasted food to no power or any type of reassurance. An employee felt comfortable enough to let us know she robbed a bank prior to being hired and we have been letting her handle our payments prior to us knowing that. The maintance employees are very lazy all they do is ride around in the truck all day riving past every ones trash sitting at the end of the drive to be taken. We will be moving to the campground across the street from the location. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Jul 30, 2024 · Carrie ChumbleyIn our first week of being back here, we lost power and lost water. This is a campground were you can own or rent. There has been no improvements in the last 3 year!
Aug 12, 2024 · Faye SegertPlease realize a lot of the pictures that were taken was when this was a Yogi bear campground. The water slide is broken and won't be repaired, the place looks horrible when you really see it.The owner Jim Rose is letting the place go to hell, the Manager Debra is rude, the campground overall is poorly kept up and the maintenance crew don't have a clue on what to do.The bad part is the fact more and more of a bad element is coming in and you see it with a lot of people from Chicago. The electric is outdated and failing to frequently, not a family atmosphere at all, go to Oak Lake for a better experience.
Sep 02, 2023 · Bgc Fan 2032This place was amazing! We went tent camping on a weekday and felt a little awkward because it was all long term beautiful campers. Then when the weekend came more tent campers came. The water and beach was amazingly clean and pretty. Having two pools was great so it wasn't too crowded at either one. And my boys had so much fun on the slides and its awesome that the price to camp included the slide and boats! We didn't do the game room or activities because we stayed there to go to Chicago one day and the lake the other day but they seemed really fun! It's nice that they do things like that so kids have something to do.Their store was great prices. They had anything you might have forgot and things you didn't know you needed. The wood was way better price and quality than the gas station in the front. There is also a Dollar Tree and Save A Lot that sells alcohol within a quarter mile.THE BAD:The only reason I didn't give 5 Stars was because the side I was on was close to the highway and since I was in a tent, it was extremely loud. ALSO the smell of raw sewage would randomly appear over most of the campground.
