Typically, Ohio State Park campgrounds offer amenities such as restrooms, showers, and potentially electric hookups at some sites. For those preferring more comfort, Lake Hope also features cabins, as highlighted by a reviewer who stayed in one of the "Lake Hope Iron Furnace cabins." This reviewer was impressed by the amenities, noting the "great price," cleanliness, and features exceeding a hotel, including a furnace, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen (with cookware and utensils), fresh bedding and towels, cable TV, and a hot shower. This indicates that the cabins provide a more home-like experience for those who prefer it. The features of Lake Hope State Park Campground are diverse, catering to both tent and RV campers as well as those opting for cabin stays. For traditional campers, the park offers access to the natural features of the Hocking Hills region, including hiking trails around Lake Hope and within the broader state park. The lake itself provides opportunities for fishing and potentially boating (depending on regulations). The mention of a "hilly" campsite suggests that the terrain itself can be a feature to consider when choosing a location. The "clean and peaceful" environment, as noted by a camper, is another key feature, promising a relaxing getaway. To learn more about specific features like trail access from the campground, lake activities, or unique aspects of different campsites, it's best to consult the Lake Hope State Park's official website or speak with park staff.
The provided reviews offer valuable firsthand perspectives. One reviewer had a "wonderful stay" in a Lake Hope Iron Furnace cabin, emphasizing its affordability, cleanliness, and surprising array of amenities, wishing it were their actual home and recommending it for any season. This strongly suggests that the cabin rentals are a significant and positive feature. The other review details a camping experience at site 168, noting the cleanliness and peacefulness of the area but cautioning about the "hilly" nature of that particular site, advising future campers to choose a level plot. This indicates that while the overall environment is appealing, the topography of individual campsites can vary. Both reviews suggest that Lake Hope State Park is a place worth visiting, with the cabins offering a comfortable and well-equipped stay, and the campground providing a generally pleasant experience with the caveat of potential uneven terrain at some sites.
For local users looking for "camping near me," Lake Hope State Park Campground in New Plymouth, OH, presents a versatile choice with both campsites and well-appointed cabins. The positive review of the cabins highlights them as a comfortable and amenity-rich option for those who prefer not to tent camp. Lake Hope State Park Campground Reviews
I stayed in one of the Lake Hope Iron Furnace cabins this past week for a work training and had a wonderful stay! The cabin was a great price, clean, and to my surprise had more amenities than a hotel! The cabin had a furnace but I still enjoyed making a fire in the fireplace at night, cooking dinner in the fully equipped kitchen (they even provided any cooking ware or utensil I could possibly need), fresh clean bedding and towels, cable tv, a nice hot shower. I honestly wish the cabin was my actual house. I am shocked that I appeared to be the only one staying in the cabins, it is winter but I think these cabins would make for a great vacation in any season. Thanks for having me I will definitely be back!
Jan 31, 2025 · Hayley BarrettWent camping with a buddy of mine for two nights (had to cut it short to one night because of bad weather). The area was clean and peaceful. However, we stayed at campsite 168, and boy is it HILLY. This site is set on an incline and it really did not help us sleep that night. Trying to set up a chair close to the fire was rather hard too since you either felt like you were falling forward, sideways, or backward. Over all though, it wasn't terrible. I'd definitely go back but will have to make sure the plot we chose isn't at an angle.
Nov 15, 2024 · GehrigAlways consider the context of a bad review, like the irrational dishonest 1 star bellow. As soon as I saw the spider comment I made a note, review is NOT credibleThis is a great campground, clean, well cared for and a great place to enjoy, NATURE. If you have low tolerance for any part of nature get a hotel room. This campground is close to great trails, landmarks and other attractions. A must stay.
Mar 30, 2025 · Bill “flavorfulbbq” CarpenterOverall nice campgrounds and park. The campgrounds is one long winding road on a hill. Most camping pads are not suitable for RV or TT, very short, sloped and uneven. Road is tight and pad is tight. Larger rigs will have difficulty. During our stay the upper shower house was closed. The lower shower house and restroom were clean and well kept. We had heavy rains during our stay. The road at the entrance to the park flooded (not impassable), along with several other side roads and trail.
May 10, 2022 · Samantha ZizzoThe cheap cabins are great! Perfect for a weekend getaway. They are 10x10 and has heating for 40°+ , AC window unit, and a mini fridge. The little parking spot is up a steep hill from the cabin with a grill, fire ring, and bench. We do not recommend the campground for tent camping at least to section open during winter because the hills are so steep and there's no where level to set up tents.
