Lake Massasecum Park & Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a picturesque 'camping near me' experience centered around a beautiful lake, Lake Massasecum Park & Campground, located at 36 Massasecum Lake Rd, Bradford, NH 03221, USA, offers a compelling option. Situated in a nostalgic area with shady pines nestled around the beach and camping spots, the campground provides a potentially tranquil setting for a getaway. While one review focuses solely on the day-use beach area, it highlights the stunning views of the lake and the peaceful atmosphere, noting it as a clean space with plenty of family activity and boating opportunities.
The broader Lake and Mount Sunapee region, in which Lake Massasecum Park & Campground is situated, offers a diverse range of activities throughout the year. This makes the campground an appealing base for exploring the wider area. During the winter months, visitors can enjoy ski lift tours to the summit of Mount Sunapee. As the seasons change to summer, the region comes alive with hiking trails, providing opportunities to explore the natural beauty of New Hampshire. Additionally, the area hosts craft fairs and vibrant farmers’ markets, offering a taste of local culture and produce. Antique shopping is also a popular pastime in the surrounding towns of Bradford, Newbury, and Sunapee, providing a chance to discover unique treasures. For those seeking culinary experiences, these nearby towns boast excellent dining options to suit a variety of tastes.
The strategic location of Lake Massasecum Park & Campground also makes it a convenient getaway spot. It is just a quick 30-minute drive to the larger cities of Concord and Manchester, offering easy access to urban amenities, entertainment, and transportation links. This proximity allows campers to enjoy the peace and quiet of a lakeside retreat while still being within reach of city conveniences and attractions.
One enthusiastic reviewer describes Lake Massasecum itself as a "must stay location at least once." They highlight the lake's beauty and the comfortable temperature of the water in the swim area. The lake also features "exciting areas a lake should have," including a "mysterious island in the middle," adding an element of exploration and adventure to the lakeside experience. This suggests that the lake is not only visually appealing but also offers opportunities for boating, swimming, and discovering hidden gems.
Regarding the services at Lake Massasecum Park & Campground, the same reviewer notes that the service is generally good. This indicates that the staff are likely attentive and helpful to guests, contributing to a positive overall experience. However, the reviewer did mention one member of the staff who was perceived as "not professional in the slightest," suggesting a potential inconsistency in service quality that some visitors might encounter.
The accommodation at Lake Massasecum Park & Campground includes "cozy little cabins" that have a "look of being rustic." While the rustic charm might appeal to some seeking a traditional camping feel, the reviewer raises significant concerns about the condition of these cabins. They rated the rooms a 3 out of 5, citing "abhorrent" beds, a serious issue with bugs, and a concerning "slanting of the units." These are significant drawbacks that potential overnight guests in the cabins should be aware of. Uncomfortable beds, pest infestations, and structural issues can severely impact the quality of sleep and overall comfort during a stay.
Despite the issues with the cabins, the reviewer concludes by highly recommending staying for one night, emphasizing that it's a "wonderful experience." This suggests that the appeal of the lake and the overall environment might outweigh the shortcomings of the cabin accommodations for a short visit. However, for those planning a longer stay or prioritizing comfortable lodging, these concerns should be carefully considered.

Although I've never camped here you cannot beat the view of the lake and shady pines that nestle the beach area and camping spots. It truly is a nostalgic area. If your not camping here you have to pay to spend time at the beach which is pretty standard anywhere you go anyways. Its clean and lots of family activity and boating to boot. Very peaceful. The Lake and Mount Sunapee area offers a range of activities for every season. Dec 29, 2024 · Lisa PrattThis spot is a must stay location at least once. The lake is beautiful, and the water is a perfect mix of comfortable (in the swim area) and it has all of the exciting areas a lake should have (mysterious island in the middle of the lake). The service is good and I would of gave it 5 stars but there is one member of the staff who is not professional in the slightest. The rooms get a 3 because they are cozy little cabins and it has the look of being rustic but at the same time, the beds are abhorrent, the bugs are serious and the slanting of the units is a little scary. Overall I do highly recommend staying for one night, it's a wonderful experience.
Jun 03, 2024 · Chris AleoThis is a wonderful place to bring your family. The lake is beautiful, it's clean, not to deep for kids and it's not overcrowded. The cabins are cute and clean. The owners take pride in the business and it shows. We enjoy taking advantage of this every chance we get.
Jul 08, 2024 · Ryan McClayLove this lake! Cheap and can see through the water. Can fish, boat, and swim. We have only gone their to swim. U can also camp there as it is a camp ground but we haven't camped there yet. There food is really good. Also the owners/workers are so nice and friendly, very down to earth. We go here about 4 to 5 times a summer. I definitely recommend!
Sep 14, 2023 · Blair BirkheimerThis is a great campground with a lovely couple that own and operate. Rv rental spots and trailer. Tent sites and 7 lovely cabins. We love the cabins with indoor plumbing, electricity and a stove. Campfire out front of cabin. The lake is shallow and clear . Great fishing. Snack shack/ sundry shop is great. Kid friendly.
