Lake Ozawindib Cabin Introduce
For local residents in Minnesota and surrounding areas seeking a "camping near me" experience with the unique charm of a rustic cabin, Lake Ozawindib Cabin, situated near Lake Itasca, MN 56676 (approximate address 6PPJ+65), offers a secluded retreat immersed in nature. You can contact them at (218) 699-7214 or their mobile number +1 218-699-7214 for inquiries and bookings. Located in the vicinity of Itasca State Park, the headwaters of the Mississippi River, Lake Ozawindib Cabin promises a tranquil escape surrounded by the natural beauty of northern Minnesota, characterized by pristine lakes, dense forests, and abundant wildlife.
The environment surrounding Lake Ozawindib Cabin is a significant part of its appeal, offering a genuine immersion in the wilderness. Being near Lake Itasca State Park, guests can expect to be surrounded by towering pines, diverse deciduous trees, and the serene waters of Lake Ozawindib itself. The positive reviews emphasize the feeling of being "surrounded by nothing other than the lake, trees and animals," fostering an atmosphere of "peace and calmness." This suggests a location that truly allows for a getaway from the noise and distractions of urban life, providing opportunities for observing local wildlife and enjoying the tranquility of a natural lakeside setting. The proximity to Itasca State Park also opens up possibilities for exploring the park's numerous hiking trails, scenic drives, and the iconic headwaters of the Mississippi River, although these would require travel from the cabin.
The features of Lake Ozawindib Cabin offer a rustic camping experience with some basic home comforts, but it's crucial to note the limitations regarding modern amenities. As highlighted in the customer reviews, the cabin does not have running water or an indoor toilet. Water is apparently accessible via a hose outside, and toilet facilities consist of an outhouse. One reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with the smell of the newly installed outhouse, stating a preference for the older one and recommending that the state of Minnesota address this issue. Bathing requires a drive to the campgrounds, indicating that full plumbing and shower facilities are not available at the cabin itself. There is also no air conditioning, which might be a consideration for stays during the warmer summer months.
Despite these rustic conditions, the cabin offers several upsides that contribute to a comfortable stay. It is a two-bedroom cabin with two couches in the living room, providing ample sleeping space for families or small groups. The presence of a fireplace suggests the possibility of cozy evenings during cooler weather. The cabin is also equipped with essential kitchen amenities, including dishes, pots and pans, utensils, a stove, and a refrigerator/freezer, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. A significant highlight is the provision of a dock with a canoe and a kayak, along with life jackets, offering direct access to Lake Ozawindib for paddling and enjoying the lake. While one reviewer noted that the rowboat leaks, the availability of a canoe and kayak still provides valuable recreational opportunities.
One reviewer mentioned "a few harmless mice inside the cabin," which is not uncommon in more rustic, secluded accommodations in natural environments. While the mice were described as harmless, this is something that guests who are particularly sensitive to wildlife indoors should be aware of. Another concern raised was a clogged rain gutter on the front of the cabin, leading to dripping and freezing on the steps, causing a slip hazard. This suggests that while the location is nice, some aspects of the cabin's maintenance might be lacking and are areas for potential improvement.
Promotional information for Lake Ozawindib Cabin is not included in the provided data. Therefore, details about special rates, seasonal discounts, or packages are unavailable. For local users interested in booking the cabin, it would be essential to contact them directly via phone to inquire about availability, pricing, and any specific rules or regulations. Given the unique nature of the cabin (no running water or indoor toilet), it's crucial to have a clear understanding of what is provided and what guests need to bring to ensure a comfortable stay. Asking about any potential discounts for local residents or for longer stays might also be beneficial.
In conclusion, Lake Ozawindib Cabin offers a rustic "camping near me" experience for those seeking a peaceful and secluded getaway in the beautiful Lake Itasca area of Minnesota. The cabin's prime location surrounded by nature and its provision of a canoe and kayak are significant attractions. However, prospective guests must be fully aware of the lack of running water and indoor toilet facilities, as well as the need to travel for bathing. While the cabin provides essential kitchen amenities and ample sleeping space, the reported issues with the outhouse, leaky rowboat, and potential for mice and maintenance concerns like the clogged gutter should be taken into consideration. Local users who appreciate a more primitive camping experience with the added shelter of a cabin and direct lake access might find Lake Ozawindib Cabin appealing, provided they are prepared for the lack of modern conveniences. Direct communication with the owners is highly recommended to obtain current information and address any specific concerns before booking.

Lake Ozawindib Cabin Reviews
Great place if you don't mind no running water. To bathe you have to drive miles to the camp grounds. The outhouse is the worst smelling in the entire state park. The old outhouse was much better then the new installed this year. The row boat leaks water. A few harmless mice inside the cabin. There's a rain gutter on the front of the cabin clogged with pine needles so it dripped on the steps, freezing, causing me to slip and fall. Otherwise a nice place. Very quiet. The state of MN needs to fix these things before I return again.
Oct 22, 2024 · Barry McKaneIf I could rate this greater than a 5 I would! Would highly recommend if you need to get away for a weekend or even a week! Surrounded by nothing other than the lake, trees and animals! Peace and calmness is amazing out here!Couple downsides is that there is no water or toilet inside but provided outside (outhouse and hose) and no A/C.Upsides: it’s 2 bedroom, 2 couches in living room, has a fireplace and has dishes, pots & pans, and utensils, stove, refrigerator/freezer, dock with canoe and kayak (life jackets provided).
