Leisure Time Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Irons, MI area, Leisure Time Campground, located at 9214 W 5 Mile Rd, Irons, MI 49644, USA, with phone numbers (231) 298-0003 and +1 231-298-0003, presents a camping option to consider. However, recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on the current state of the campground, which potential visitors should carefully evaluate.
Based on the provided reviews, the environment of Leisure Time Campground appears to have access to a lake, which could be a significant draw for those seeking waterfront camping. However, one reviewer described the lake area as "set up horrible" with "garbage everywhere and no more beach area." This suggests a potential lack of maintenance and upkeep in the natural surroundings, particularly concerning the lakefront. While one guest mentioned having a "decent size" campsite, another described difficulty maneuvering a larger vehicle (fifth wheel and big truck) into their reserved spot, indicating potential limitations in site accessibility for larger rigs. The presence of a pool is also mentioned as a feature, although one reviewer reported it being closed earlier than its stated hours. Overall, while the location offers proximity to a lake, the reported conditions suggest that the environment and facilities may not be consistently well-maintained.
In terms of services, Leisure Time Campground offers full hookups at some sites, which is a definite advantage for RV campers. However, the availability and reliability of other services seem to be areas of concern based on the reviews. One guest reported that the WIFI was "extremely spotty and didn’t work." While this could be seen as a positive for those wanting to disconnect, it might be an inconvenience for others needing internet access. A recurring issue highlighted in the reviews is the apparent lack of on-site management presence, with one guest stating, "The office was never open and never saw the owners once," and another echoing this by saying, "Nobody was ever at the office, had to track someone down to rent a boat." This lack of accessible staff could lead to difficulties in addressing issues or obtaining assistance. Furthermore, one review mentioned reading about an "$8 shower," raising concerns about potential extra charges for basic amenities, although this was not confirmed. The inability to bring in outside firewood is also noted as a restriction.
The features of Leisure Time Campground, based on the reviews, include full hookup campsites, a pool, and lake access. However, the condition and usability of some of these features have been questioned. The pool was reportedly closed prematurely. The lake access was described as poorly set up and littered with garbage, lacking a proper beach area. The fire ring at one campsite was found full of trash upon arrival. The issue of "camp police" enforcing unclear rules about driving on unmarked lawn areas also raises concerns about the overall management and guest experience. The mention of boat rentals suggests a potential for on-lake activities, but the difficulty in finding someone to facilitate the rental due to the unattended office detracts from this feature. The contrast with the campground's past under previous ownership, where it was described as "friendly" and well-kept, further emphasizes a potential decline in the current features and their maintenance.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Leisure Time Campground's location in Irons, MI, might seem appealing due to its proximity to potential natural attractions and lake access. However, the significant negative feedback in the recent reviews regarding cleanliness, maintenance, management accessibility, and rule enforcement should give potential visitors pause. The reported issues with garbage at campsites and the lake, the unreliable WIFI, the unattended office, and the potential for extra charges for showers paint a concerning picture of the current state of the campground. The difficulty in maneuvering larger vehicles into some sites is also a practical consideration for RV owners.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Given the negative feedback regarding the campground's condition and management, it is unlikely that there are active promotions being highlighted. Local users considering Leisure Time Campground should directly contact them at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, availability, and any recent improvements or changes in management that might address the concerns raised in the reviews. It would be prudent to ask specific questions about the condition of the lakefront, the operational hours and cleanliness of the pool, the reliability of the WIFI, the accessibility of staff, and any policies regarding firewood and shower fees before making a reservation.
The stark contrast between the positive memories of the campground under old ownership and the current negative reviews is a significant point to consider. The recent experiences of guests highlight potential issues with cleanliness (garbage at campsites and the lake), maintenance (lake setup, overall updating needed), management (unattended office, lack of visible owners, unclear rule enforcement), and amenities (unreliable WIFI, prematurely closed pool, potential shower fees). The noise issues at night, with neighboring campsites being loud late into the night, also suggest a lack of enforcement of quiet hours. These are critical factors that local users should weigh carefully when considering Leisure Time Campground for their "camping near me" needs.
In conclusion, while Leisure Time Campground in Irons, MI, offers full hookups and access to a lake, recent reviews indicate significant concerns regarding its cleanliness, maintenance, management, and the usability of its amenities. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these recent experiences and potentially seek more up-to-date information directly from the campground before making a reservation. Exploring alternative campgrounds in the Irons, MI, area might be advisable to ensure a more positive and hassle-free camping experience. The negative feedback suggests that Leisure Time Campground may not currently offer the enjoyable and well-maintained environment that local campers typically seek.

Leisure Time Campground Reviews
Having full hookups was great and the site was a decent size. WIFI is extremely spotty and didn’t work (which was great if you want to disconnect). It could definitely use some updating! The office was never open and never saw the owners once.
Jul 07, 2024 · Alicia KufalkI would honestly give it 0 stars if I could! Get to our campsite our fire ring is full of garbage small liquor bottles, beer cans and other garbage. The site we reserved was tight to get into with a fifth wheel and big truck, told by some " camp police" is what we called him cant drive on that lawn, not sure how else your supposed to get into the spot we had without doing so, the yard that we couldnt drive on wasn't marked no signs nothing. So that's the start, then the pool was closed when it said it was open from 10am to 9:30 pm it was only 8:30.We walked down to the lake which is set up horrible, get to the lake, garbage everywhere and no more beach area. Then come night time on Friday night the campsite next to us was having a great time, but swearing and yelling well into the night it was after 2:30 am. Can't bring in your own fire wood, I read something about an $8 shower? Not sure if you really have to pay $8 to take a shower 🤔Nobody was ever at the office, had to track someone down to rent a boat to do some fishing.I grew up coming to this campground when the old owners had it, they were so friendly also kept the place up, was really sad to see it like this, we will never be back.
Jul 21, 2024 · Sarah JonesMy family is from the area and as a child I was good friends with the family that owned it before the current owners, always loved it!The last time my family was there, we had 4 boys and two adults. There was a playground that the kids went to a few times and the lake was available as well, the pool wasn’t open at the time and the old gift shop was closed too or maybe the no longer have one like Jim and Amy but it sure made me sad that everything changed so much and sad to say not for the better. We cleaned and left our trash all in a trash bag inside the cottage and didn’t make the beds. We didn’t receive our security deposit back because of me leaving the bag inside the cottage. They said I left the cottage “trashed”. Which they did not have an area to dump trash or pick it up from us. I will not be back. Will keep the memories I had as a kid and bring my boys elsewhere! We love Tri Ponds and Adventure Bound now and recommend them always.
May 26, 2023 · Marissa LopezWe stayed here with a large group of campers a few years back. It has been one of our best vacations. We took our own Kayaks and rented a paddle boat out onto Seaman lake and paddled around for an afternoon, Swam in the pool, kayaked the Little Manistee River, visited Ludington/Lake Michigan. Campground was relaxed, bathrooms and showers clean. We had a great time and will return if ever in the area again!
Jul 25, 2022 · Amber YanovichI just visited Leisure Time campground for a weekend stay. We camped on the water sites. Everything i read online about this camp site was true. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked everyday. There is a pool, volleyball net and playground. We took a row boat out for a spin around the lake. This is a very quiet campground and the seasonal campers were very warm and inviting! Our main reason for staying was to check out campgrounds in the area as well as this one for our summer getaway while orving with the kids. And after seeing the rest. This is what i will be bringing my kids back to this summer. Keep up the great work Bill and Amy!
