Letchworth State Park D Cabins Introduce
Are you a local user searching for "camping near me" and yearning for an escape into one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes of New York State? Consider Letchworth State Park D Cabins, located at 9280 Parade Grounds Rd, Hunt, NY 14846, USA. Known as the "Grand Canyon of the East," Letchworth State Park offers spectacular scenery, with the Genesee River carving a deep gorge, cascading over three major waterfalls, and surrounded by lush forests and towering cliffs. Staying in the D Cabins within this park provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in this natural beauty with the added comfort of cabin accommodations.
Based on feedback from recent visitors, the Letchworth State Park D Cabins offer a delightful and convenient base for exploring the park and its surroundings. One reviewer shared their positive experience, noting that while you need to bring your own trash cans and coffeemaker (which they humorously mentioned wasn't really a complaint), the "adorable cabin" provides a safe and comfortable place to stay when you're not out discovering the gorge or nearby attractions like the airplane museum. This suggests that the cabins offer a level of basic comfort and security, allowing guests to fully enjoy the outdoor activities the park has to offer.
The same reviewer recounted some of the highlights of their visit, including witnessing a hot air balloon for the first time, marveling at the beautiful falls, and appreciating the polite and friendly atmosphere of both fellow campers and staff members within the campground area. This paints a picture of a welcoming and community-oriented environment where guests can feel safe and enjoy interacting with others who share a love for nature. The mention of a "tall camp grill and a regular fire pit" is a significant feature for those who enjoy outdoor cooking and the ambiance of a campfire, enhancing the overall camping experience.
A particularly appreciated feature of the cabins, as mentioned by the reviewer, is the screen porch. This is described as a "luxury" when the bugs start biting, indicating that guests can enjoy the fresh air and the natural surroundings without being bothered by insects. This thoughtful addition adds to the comfort and usability of the cabins, especially during warmer months when insects are more prevalent.
The reviewer also noted that at least cabin 006A was a one-bedroom unit. This provides some insight into the layout and size of at least one of the D Cabins, suggesting a cozy and manageable space for a small family or group. The overall sentiment of this guest was overwhelmingly positive, describing it as "such a lovely stay" and expressing excitement about returning in the future, even adding a raccoon emoji, perhaps hinting at the local wildlife encounters within the park.
Another visitor echoed the positive sentiment, describing their experience as "awesome!" They found the accommodations to be "simply perfect," emphasizing their cleanliness and peacefulness. The location of the cabins within the park was also lauded as "perfectly placed" with many beautiful sites close by for easy access and exploration. This reinforces the idea that staying in the D Cabins offers not only comfortable lodging but also an ideal base for experiencing the natural wonders of Letchworth State Park.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that combines the beauty of nature with the convenience of cabin living, Letchworth State Park D Cabins offer an excellent option. You get to immerse yourself in the stunning environment of the "Grand Canyon of the East," with its dramatic gorge and impressive waterfalls, while having a comfortable and secure cabin to return to. The presence of amenities like a grill and fire pit allows for a more traditional outdoor cooking and gathering experience, and the screen porch adds a touch of comfort and practicality.
While the reviews mention the need to bring your own trash cans and coffeemaker, these seem to be minor inconveniences compared to the overall positive experience of staying in the cabins and exploring the park. Letchworth State Park itself offers a wide range of activities, including hiking along the gorge trails, viewing the waterfalls, exploring the nature center, and potentially visiting nearby attractions like the airplane museum mentioned by one reviewer. The friendly atmosphere reported by a guest adds to the appeal, suggesting a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Letchworth State Park D Cabins Reviews
The only complaints I have is you need to bring your own trashcans and coffeemaker(not even a complaint I just took it for granted.) Otherwise, this adorable cabin will give you a safe place to bed down when you aren't running around seeing the gorge or the air plane museum. I got to see a hot air balloon for the first time ever, the falls were beautiful and the campground itself was full of polite and friendly people and staff members. You get a tall camp grill and a regular fire pit which is super nice. The screen porch is such a luxury when the bugs start biting. Not sure if all cabins are one bedroom but 006A was. It was such a lovely stay. Excited to return. 🦝
Jun 24, 2023 · LonnyAn awesome experience! The accommodations were simply perfect. Very clean and peaceful. Perfectly placed within the park with many beautiful sites close by to see and experience.
Oct 15, 2024 · Carlos AlvaradoWe just spent a weekend in Cabin A5. Included with the cabin was an indoor bathroom with hot water shower and toilet paper but no soap, towels, or trash can. In the kitchen was a microwave, small stove/oven, and refrigerator, and again no trash can. There was a dining table with six chairs and the bedroom had two single beds and a double bunk bed with full size mattresses but no linens, pillows or blankets. I suggest bringing some night lights because it's really dark there. The porch had a picnic table and there was another picnic table outside near the firepit and grill area.
Oct 23, 2023 · Paul SchultzSecond year in a row for me in the A Loop at Letchworth! We had cabins A11 and A12. All the cabins in this loop have a shower, toilet, and sink in the bathrooms as well as hot running water in the kitchenettes. Very clean upon arrival. Sleeps six snugly but comfortably. One of our cabins was handicapped accessible inside and out, including a wheelchair friendly fire pit and picnic table. Screened in porches are my favorite part! Each site comes with an outdoor picnic table, a picnic table on the porch and a dining table and 6 chairs on the inside. Our fridge in A11 was the best we've ever had in 6 years of NYS park cabins, 5 at Letchworth itself. Maintenance and Park Ranger/Police presence was perfect. I highly recommend it for families!!! My only regret is I didn't take any photos of the cabins!
Jul 15, 2023 · D CWell worth the $$. Shower was small but efficient. Stove, fridge, microwave all new. I like the 2 room setup of B cabins better, but the personal shower trumps that. A great stay, and will return next year.
