Lightfoot Park

RR 2, Flemington, MO 65650, USA

4.0
I’d give 0 stars if I could based solely on the park attendant John. My family has come down here for years and have camped with several different attendants and never had there been someone this bad. John did not clean the campsite before we got there, the previous campers left some trash and charcoal in the pit and he had the audacity to ask my older grandparents to clean their site themselves. Like the other review said, he comes into your campsite unwelcome and asks for stuff. He went as far as to ask for a ride from the campground to Bolivar (16+ away) and Galmey, and other places too. He uses his personal phone to call and ask for rides from his home to near where my grandparents live (would end up being hours worth of driving for my grandparents). VERY CREEPY. My grandparents did not consent to receiving calls from him outside of campsite related information. They are NOT friends. He does not keep the park very clean or the amenities. He does not seem to actually clean the bathrooms, he just empties the trash cans every now and then. He doesn’t clean the feminine waste basket much at all (pictured). There’s mold and caked on poop from when the toilets backed up over a month ago (pictured) and it hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned since. The guy is weird and intrusive and makes campers uncomfortable.Even though we’ve been coming multiple times per year for several years now, we’ll pick a different campsite next year if John is still the attendant. - Emilee H

According to one recent review, a significant concern has been raised regarding the park attendant, identified as John. The reviewer detailed several negative experiences, alleging that the campsite was not cleaned prior to their arrival, with leftover trash and charcoal from previous campers. They further stated that the attendant asked their elderly grandparents to clean the site themselves. The review also claimed that the attendant made unwelcome visits to their campsite, soliciting personal favors such as rides to distant locations like Bolivar (over 16 miles away) and Galmey. Additionally, the reviewer reported receiving unsolicited calls from the attendant on his personal phone, requesting rides from his home to areas near their grandparents' residence, which would involve several hours of driving for them. This behavior was described as "very creepy" and intrusive, with the reviewer emphasizing that their grandparents did not consent to these personal calls and did not consider the attendant a friend. The cleanliness of the park and its amenities was also criticized in this review. It was mentioned that the bathrooms did not appear to be cleaned thoroughly, with trash cans being emptied occasionally but other cleaning tasks seemingly neglected. Specific concerns were raised about the feminine waste basket and the condition of the toilets, with allegations of mold and lingering waste from a reported backup that occurred over a month prior to the review. The reviewer concluded by expressing their discomfort due to the attendant's behavior and indicated that they would choose a different campsite in the future if the same attendant was still employed.

In contrast, another review offered a positive perspective of Lightfoot Park. This visitor expressed love for the park, highlighting that the campsites are spread out, providing a sense of space and privacy. They also praised the beautiful views of the lake, suggesting a scenic environment for campers to enjoy. Furthermore, this reviewer found the park to be reasonably priced and clean, indicating a satisfactory experience with the overall upkeep and cost.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it's important for local users exploring "camping near me" and considering Lightfoot Park to weigh these perspectives. The positive review suggests that the park offers desirable features such as spacious campsites, attractive lake views, affordability, and a generally clean environment, at least during that particular visitor's experience. These aspects could appeal to individuals and families looking for a budget-friendly lakeside retreat with room to spread out and enjoy the natural surroundings.

However, the detailed negative review raises significant concerns regarding the park attendant's behavior and the cleanliness of the facilities. The allegations of intrusive behavior, inappropriate personal requests, and a lack of adequate cleaning are serious and could potentially detract significantly from a camper's experience. It's crucial for potential visitors to be aware of these reported issues.

Regarding the environment of Lightfoot Park, the mention of "beautiful views of the lake" suggests that the campground is situated in a picturesque location with water access and scenic vistas. Lakeside camping often provides opportunities for activities such as fishing, boating (if permitted and facilities are available), and simply enjoying the tranquility of being near the water. The fact that the sites are "spread out" implies that campers can expect a degree of privacy and space between campsites, which is often a desirable feature for those seeking a more secluded outdoor experience compared to tightly packed campgrounds.

In terms of services and features, the limited information available does not provide specific details beyond the campsites themselves and the presence of a park attendant. Typically, campgrounds offer basic amenities such as restrooms, water sources (potable or non-potable), and possibly picnic tables and fire rings at individual campsites. Based on the negative review, the cleanliness and maintenance of the restrooms appear to be a point of concern that potential visitors should consider. It is advisable to contact the park directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about the specific amenities available, such as the type of restroom facilities, water access, and any other services offered (e.g., RV hookups, dump stations, boat launch). This direct communication can help clarify the current status of the park's facilities and any recent changes.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Lightfoot Park in the provided text. Local users interested in camping at Lightfoot Park are encouraged to call the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, availability, and any special offers that might be ongoing. In conclusion, Lightfoot Park offers the potential for an enjoyable lakeside camping experience near Flemington, MO, with spacious campsites and scenic lake views. However, recent feedback has highlighted significant concerns regarding the park attendant and the cleanliness of the facilities. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these points and are strongly advised to contact the park directly for the most up-to-date information on services, conditions, and any relevant policies before making a reservation.
