Longbow Organization Camp Introduce
Looking for "camping near me," particularly a group-oriented campground with unique features in Oregon? Consider Longbow Organization Camp, situated near Sweet Home, OR 97386, USA. With contact phone numbers (541) 367-5168 and +1 541-367-5168, this campground appears to offer a distinctive camping experience centered around cabin accommodations, communal spaces, and access to a river. Customer reviews highlight its appealing features and hint at its historical significance.
One reviewer who visited but did not stay overnight noted the presence of an "old CCC Camp" on the premises. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a work relief program that operated during the Great Depression, and CCC camps often involved the development of parks and recreational facilities. The presence of remnants or structures from an old CCC camp suggests that Longbow Organization Camp has a historical connection, which might add an element of interest for visitors who appreciate history and the legacy of the CCC in outdoor recreation areas.
The same reviewer also observed that the campground "appears to have the basics for something better than total primitive camping." This implies that while not a fully developed RV resort with extensive amenities, Longbow Organization Camp offers essential facilities that provide a more comfortable experience than backcountry or primitive camping, likely including established campsites or cabin structures and basic utilities.
A subsequent reviewer enthusiastically describes Longbow Organization Camp as an "Amazing place!" and provides more specific details about its offerings. The mention of "cabins" is a key feature, indicating that the primary accommodation type is likely rustic cabins rather than traditional tent campsites or RV hookups. The reviewer notes that the cabins are "good," suggesting they are well-maintained and suitable for comfortable lodging.
Adding to the appeal of the cabins, each one reportedly has "a fire pit just outside," which is a significant amenity for individual groups or families staying in separate cabins. Individual fire pits allow for campfires, cooking over an open flame, and a cozy outdoor gathering space right at each cabin. The reviewer also mentions that these fire pits "keeps them toasty warm," implying that they are effective for providing heat during cooler evenings, enhancing the comfort of cabin stays, especially during shoulder seasons.
Beyond the individual cabin amenities, Longbow Organization Camp features a "group fire pit" that is described as "wonderful." A communal fire pit serves as a central gathering place for larger groups or for socializing among different cabin occupants. This feature fosters a sense of community and provides a shared space for campfires, storytelling, or group activities in the evenings. The emphasis on it being "wonderful" suggests it is a well-designed and enjoyable space.
Another significant advantage of Longbow Organization Camp is that it offers "river access." Proximity to a river provides opportunities for various recreational activities such as fishing, swimming (if permitted and safe), wading, or simply enjoying the sights and sounds of the water. River access enhances the natural appeal of the campground and offers a valuable amenity for outdoor enthusiasts.

I didn't stay overnight, but just went to check out the old CCC Camp. It appears to have the basics for something better than total primitive camping.

Jul 21, 2019 · NellThe river was great Crystal clear water cool and so many swimming holes
Aug 30, 2021 · Becca WilliamsGreat place to have a multi-day group event.Surrounded by mature firs.Pump your own well water.Covered outdoor kitchen and eating areas.Vollyball court.Campfire arena (no open fires allowed this summer due to extremely dry conditions)River only a few yards away for swimming (to the west) or wading (to the east)Six 3 sided, rustic cabins, that open towards the river, but not too close. Great white noise for putting you to sleep.Only downside for some people is the steep, sometimes rutted, gravel road that descends from the gate to the camp itself. Park up near the top if you can.
Aug 28, 2023 · GregThis camp is such a beautiful place. Reservation a year ahead every year. It's always a treasure of memories. The group celebrated 40 years this time.I was surprised the last few years at the destruction of this place built in the depression. What is wrong with some people destroying such a great area?
