For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience immersed in the natural beauty of Pennsylvania, the Lower Campground at Kettle Creek State Park, located at 2996 Kettle Creek Rd, Renovo, PA 17764, USA, offers a compelling destination. You can reach them at (570) 923-6004 or +1 570-923-6004 to inquire about reservations and availability. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground is highly regarded for its scenic creek-side locations, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it an attractive option for a local outdoor adventure.
One enthusiastic reviewer described Lower Campground as "amazing," particularly highlighting the clean restrooms and the convenient water access available to most sites within a 300-foot radius. A significant draw is the "amazing experience" of having a view of the creek directly from many campsites. This picturesque setting offers a tranquil and visually appealing backdrop for a "camping near me" getaway. The reviewer also commended the friendly staff and hosts who ensured the restrooms were consistently clean throughout the day. While there is no on-site camp store, the convenience of nearby stores being around 20 minutes away from the campsites is noted. The campsites are described as moderate in size with paved bed floors, and offer a choice between creek-side locations and those situated on a slope. Clean and easily accessible fire rings and ample shade at most sites add to the comfort and convenience. The reviewer advises careful selection of camping days, mentioning that humid conditions can make the area less comfortable. A small children’s play area is also available within the campground, making it suitable for families.
Another camper echoed the positive sentiments, describing the campground as "awesome" with "beautiful, woodsy, well spaced and right up to the creek" campsites, which they considered "perfect camping." The fire rings and overall setup of the spaces were also praised. The creek is noted to be stocked, although catching fish other than panfish seemed challenging, with other fish primarily feeding on the abundant bug life. Speaking of which, bugs were mentioned as "pretty annoying" despite the use of repellent, a common consideration for any outdoor activity in a natural setting. The bathroom facilities were described as looking new. However, this reviewer pointed out a significant area for improvement: the showers. While aesthetically pleasing, the push-on faucets that only lasted for approximately 10 seconds before shutting off were inconvenient, requiring constant re-activation. Additionally, the absence of shower heads, with water simply shooting out as a stream, made showering uncomfortable. Despite this issue, the reviewer still found the campground "pretty awesome" and enjoyed their stay. A notable highlight was the opportunity to see elk relatively close by, adding an exciting element to their trip. They expressed a definite intention to return.
Combining these reviews, local users seeking "camping near me" at Lower Campground Kettle Creek State Park can anticipate a well-maintained campground with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and a beautiful natural environment along Kettle Creek. The proximity of many campsites to the creek, offering scenic views and the soothing sound of flowing water, is a major attraction. The friendly and helpful staff contribute to a positive camping experience. Families with young children will appreciate the small play area. The wooded nature of the campsites provides a sense of being immersed in the outdoors, and the availability of shade is a welcome feature, especially during warmer months.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the potential for bugs, particularly during certain times of the year, and should come prepared with insect repellent. The reviews also highlight a significant drawback: the design of the showers, which may be inconvenient due to the short duration of water flow and the lack of proper shower heads. This is an important consideration for those who prioritize comfortable showering facilities during their "camping near me" experience.
While there is no camp store directly on-site, the convenience of stores being a short drive away (approximately 20 minutes) mitigates this. Campers should plan accordingly for supplies and essentials.

Lower Campground Kettle Creek State Park Reviews
Amazing campground , clean restroom, water available to most sites by less than 300 feet, view of the creek from campsites are one of the amazing experiences you could get ok camping. Staffs and hosts were very friendly , made sure the restrooms are always clean to use irrespective of time of the day. There is no camp store at the ground but near by stores are around 20 min away from sites. Camp sites are moderate in size , paved camp site bed floor , some sites are along the creek and some are located in slope. Fire rings are clean, easily accessible from roads , most of the sites has shades. Carefully pick the day of camping , we went on very humid day and it was bit of tough to be in the area. Small children’s play area in the campground.
Jul 10, 2024 · Prabha ShankarThis Campground was awesome. The sites were beautiful, woodsy, well spaced and right up to the creek. Perfect camping in my opinion. Fire rings were nice, spaces were set up well. The creek is stocked but it didn't appear to be super easy to get fish to bite other than the panfish...the others just came to the surface and ate the unending supply of bugs available to them. Bugs were pretty annoying despite applying bug repellent. Bathroom facilities looked new, however, I will say the one place that needed improvement were the showers. Beautiful yes, but the faucets were push on and only lasted 10 seconds(we counted) before the water shut off so you literally would have to keep pushing the faucet on every 10 sec to shower yourself. Also there were no shower heads so it was just a stream that shot out and it was not very comfortable to use or convenient with water literally spraying out at you the way it did. Definitely an area of improvement for sure. Other than that this Campground was pretty awesome and we enjoyed our stay there. We were able to travel rather close by and also catch a few sitings of the elk as well which was super exciting! We would definitely go back.

Jul 20, 2023 · Janice TolandGreat little campground. Creek right out back of the camper, clean bath house. Sounds of the water over the dam.
