Mill Creek Campground Introduce
For local residents in Ohio searching for "camping near me," Mill Creek Campground, located at 7400 Bedell Rd, Berlin Center, OH 44401, USA, offers the appeal of nice-sized campsites situated on a large lake. With contact numbers (330) 547-8180 and +1 330-547-8180, this campground presents itself as a potentially valuable option, especially for campers with self-contained units. When considering local camping destinations, understanding the balance between the natural setting, available amenities, and the overall campground experience is key to making the right choice.
One reviewer highlights the attractive features of Mill Creek Campground, noting "nice size sites on a large lake." This suggests that the campground offers spacious camping areas, providing comfort and room for various camping setups. The presence of a large lake is a significant draw, implying opportunities for water-based activities and scenic views. This reviewer also points out the affordability, stating, "Hard to beat the price and if your camper is self contained, it’s a great value." This suggests that Mill Creek Campground may be a budget-friendly option for local campers, particularly those who do not heavily rely on campground-provided restroom and shower facilities. However, they also mention that "the bathrooms and shower houses are dated," which is an important consideration for campers who prioritize modern and well-maintained facilities. The reviewer concludes by recommending the campground, especially suggesting to "have a boat since not a ton else to do," indicating that the lake is a central feature for recreation and enjoyment at Mill Creek Campground.
In contrast, another visitor offers a glowing review of the campground's upkeep and natural beauty, stating, "This is a glorious campground beautifully situated that is kept impeccably clean. This is our fourth stay here in as many years." This positive feedback underscores the potential for a pleasant and well-maintained environment at Mill Creek Campground, which could be a significant factor for local campers seeking a clean and aesthetically pleasing destination for their getaways.
However, a third, more detailed review brings attention to a significant drawback concerning the campground's late check-in practices and the management's response to related disturbances. This reviewer recounts multiple instances of late-night arrivals by neighboring campers, describing disruptive setup activities occurring well past acceptable hours. They noted that on two consecutive nights, neighbors arrived past 11 PM, and on one particularly problematic night, a neighbor arrived at 12:30 AM and continued making "crazy noise" (setting up an old pop-up trailer, unloading a truck, loud talking, and dog barking) until 2:30 AM. The reviewer mentioned reminding the late arrivals about the noise level and the time, highlighting the impact on their own camping experience. They also pointed out that while there is a posted number to call for night noise disturbances, it doesn't address the inherent noise of setting up camp with older equipment. Critically, this reviewer noted that "The website explicitly states no checking in after 10," which makes the repeated late arrivals particularly concerning and suggests a potential lack of enforcement of campground rules.
The reviewer expressed their dissatisfaction with the management's handling of the issue upon departure, recounting a "stoned faced, 'I’ll pass it on to management'" response, which they found "deeply unsatisfying." This lack of a more proactive or empathetic response to a clear issue of policy violation and guest disturbance is a significant point for local users to consider when evaluating Mill Creek Campground.
Considering these reviews, the environment of Mill Creek Campground appears to be centered around a large lake, offering scenic beauty and opportunities for boating and potentially other water-related activities. The campsites are described as being of a "nice size," suggesting adequate space for campers. However, the dated nature of the bathrooms and shower houses is a noted drawback. The campground is also praised by one reviewer for being "beautifully situated" and "kept impeccably clean," indicating that the overall natural setting and general upkeep can be positive aspects of a stay at Mill Creek Campground.
In terms of services and features, we can infer the following based on the reviews:
- Lake Access: The presence of a large lake is a primary feature, likely offering opportunities for boating, fishing, and possibly swimming (though this is not explicitly stated).
- Campsites: The campground offers "nice size sites" suitable for various camping setups. The availability of hookups for RVs is not specified, but the value for "self contained" campers suggests that at least some sites may have limited or no hookups.
- Restrooms and Showers: These facilities are available but are described as "dated," indicating they may not be modern or recently renovated.
- Potential Noise Disturbance Management: While a number to call for night noise is mentioned, the effectiveness of addressing late check-ins and setup noise appears to be a concern based on one detailed review.
- Website with Rules: The existence of a website stating a "no checking in after 10" policy is noted, though the enforcement of this rule seems inconsistent.
Further information regarding specific services such as laundry facilities, Wi-Fi availability, planned activities, or the types of campsites (e.g., tent-only areas, RV sites with full hookups) is not provided in the reviews. Local users seeking these details should contact Mill Creek Campground directly.
Promotional information is not explicitly included in the provided reviews. The mention of "hard to beat the price" suggests that affordability could be a promotional aspect, particularly for self-contained campers who may not heavily utilize the dated facilities. The positive feedback about the clean environment and the appeal of the large lake could also be considered implicit promotions for the campground's natural beauty and upkeep. However, the significant issue raised regarding late check-ins and the management's response serves as a strong counterpoint. For local users considering Mill Creek Campground, it would be prudent to inquire about their policies on check-in times and noise management to ensure a peaceful camping experience. It might also be beneficial to ask about any recent or planned upgrades to the facilities, particularly the bathrooms and shower houses.
In conclusion, Mill Creek Campground in Berlin Center offers the appealing combination of nice-sized campsites on a large lake, potentially at a good value for self-contained campers. The campground is also praised for its cleanliness and beautiful setting. However, local users should be aware of the potential drawback of dated bathroom and shower facilities and the significant concern raised by a recent guest regarding the lack of enforcement of the stated late check-in policy, leading to disruptive noise late at night. For those prioritizing a lakeside location and affordability, and who are less reliant on modern campground facilities, Mill Creek Campground could be a viable "camping near me" option. However, it would be wise to contact the campground directly to inquire about their current policies and the likelihood of a peaceful and undisturbed stay.

Mill Creek Campground Reviews
Nice size sites on a large lake. The bathrooms and shower houses are dated. Hard to beat the price and if your camper is self contained, it’s a great value. I’d recommend to have a boat since not a ton else to do.
Apr 06, 2025 · James FrostThis is a glorious campground beautifully situated that is kept impeccably clean. This is our fourth stay here in as many years. The only drawback and, it’s a doozy, is their late check-in practice. Two nights in a row an immediate neighbor arrived past 11 & began unloading & setting up camp. Last night they arrived at 12:30 & didn’t stop making crazy noise (setting up a very old pop-up trailer, unloading their truck, talking at full volume, & dog barking) until 2:30AM. We reminded them that we could hear their conversations & that it was 1AM. To be fair there is a posted number to call regarding night noise disturbances but there’s nothing to be done about an ancient pop up whining & moaning & needing to be banged into position. The website explicitly states no checking in after 10. I’d like to encourage them to become more strict about allowing late comers. We mentioned it on the way out & we’re met with a stoned faced, “I’ll pass it on to management.” Which was deeply unsatisfying hence sharing our experience here.
Aug 30, 2024 · Shannon CallahanWhat a dump. Insane sketchy campers, police and rangers patrolling every 15 minutes, very grumpy unhappy campers. Every campground we have been to this year have all been polite accept here. Would not recommend. Sites are gravel from 10 years ago and site are not level at all. Everything is mud and grounds are not well taken care of. We would come here a couple times a year but not anymore. They have done no improvements for years and it’s getting extremely run down.
Aug 04, 2024 · Daniel SlagleBeen coming here since i was a kid. Bathrooms could use some cleaning and updating. Due to a bad storm we had to pack up and leave. Our area was flooded, tent and canopy got damaged from the 70mph winds. But, overall great place to take the family. People are friendly, great views and nice areas.
Aug 07, 2024 · Tess TickleOur family loves to come to this campground. The sites and views are beautiful. You can swim from so many different places. The place is usually full, but people don't bother you. There's park Rangers and a sherif that patrols every so often. We look forward to camping several times each summer!
