While currently transitioning from a former church camp into a resort area, Mirror Lake Retreat offers a unique camping experience with a focus on friendly service and access to a beautiful lake. You can reach them at (845) 758-8764 or their mobile number +1 845-758-8764 to inquire about bookings and availability.
Embrace the Natural Beauty and Lake Activities
The centerpiece of Mirror Lake Retreat is undoubtedly its stunning lake. As highlighted by previous visitors, the lake provides a fantastic opportunity for swimming, canoeing, and paddle boating, all included in the price of your stay. Imagine spending sunny afternoons gliding across the calm waters or enjoying a refreshing swim. The availability of canoes and paddle boats makes it easy for guests of all ages to enjoy aquatic adventures right at the campground.
On-Site Amenities and Potential
Beyond the lake, Mirror Lake Retreat offers a large gymnasium that is open for basketball and other indoor activities. This is a significant amenity, especially for families or those looking for recreational options beyond traditional camping activities. Whether you want to shoot hoops, play other indoor games, or simply have a space for active fun, the gym provides a valuable addition to the campground experience.
The campground is undergoing a transformation, and while some advertised amenities, such as a swimming pool, are not yet available, the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff have been consistently praised. Visitors have noted feeling welcomed and well-cared for, indicating a strong commitment to guest satisfaction as the retreat develops its facilities.
Considerations for Campers
Based on real customer feedback, there are a few aspects to consider when planning your stay at Mirror Lake Retreat. Some campsites have been described as narrow, which might be a factor if you prefer more spacious surroundings for your tent or RV setup. Additionally, the hook-up configuration for RV sites involves water and electric connections in the front and sewer connections in the back. This arrangement might require careful planning and potentially longer hoses to ensure proper connections without needing to disconnect other utilities.
One reviewer mentioned the proximity of campsites, noting that they could easily see and hear their neighbors. If you prioritize a high degree of privacy between campsites, this is something to keep in mind. However, for those who value community and don't mind a more communal camping atmosphere, this might not be a significant concern.
Outdoor Recreation and Friendly Service
Despite some of the noted limitations, Mirror Lake Retreat offers appealing outdoor recreation options. In addition to the lake activities, the campground provides free paddle boats, rock climbing, and hiking trails. These amenities cater to a variety of interests, from leisurely paddles on the lake to more adventurous rock climbing and exploration of the surrounding natural trails. The availability of these free activities adds significant value to the camping experience.
The positive feedback regarding the staff is a recurring theme in the reviews. Guests have consistently described the team as super friendly, welcoming, and nice. This emphasis on hospitality can greatly enhance your stay, making you feel comfortable and well-supported throughout your camping trip.
Future Potential and Return Visits
Several reviewers have expressed a belief in the great potential of Mirror Lake Retreat. The ongoing transition to a resort area suggests that improvements and new amenities are likely to be introduced in the future. This forward momentum and the positive initial experiences have led some visitors to state their intention to return, indicating a promising outlook for the campground as it continues to develop.
Planning Your Visit to Mirror Lake Retreat
When planning your "camping near me" adventure at Mirror Lake Retreat, it's advisable to consider the information shared by previous guests. If you are traveling in a motorhome or RV, ensure you have the necessary hose lengths to accommodate the hook-up configuration. If campsite size and privacy are high priorities, you might want to inquire about specific site dimensions and layouts when making your reservation. Tent campers should also consider the potential for narrow sites when choosing their location.
However, the undeniable appeal of the lake, the availability of free recreational activities like paddle boating, rock climbing, and hiking, and the consistently praised friendly service make Mirror Lake Retreat a compelling option for those seeking a camping experience with a focus on outdoor fun and a welcoming atmosphere. The ongoing development and potential for future improvements further add to its appeal.

Mirror Lake Retreat Reviews
4 out of 5 stars.Former church camp changing to resort area. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We wanted for nothing. There is a lake with swimming and canoes and paddle boats. Included in price. A large gym that is open for basketball and other indoor activities. The parts that need work, advertised swimming pool isn’t there yet. Camp sites are narrow. Hook ups are water/ electric in front sewer in back so be sure you can reach. The place has great potential and I’m sure in the next year or so they will achieve it.We will come back again!
May 26, 2024 · Ray UtenisWe stayed at the campground in the Spring of 2022. Overall it was a pleasant experience. The lake was the best part of our stay. We traveled in our motorhome. The bad aspect of the stay was the hook-ups. They were all far apart from each other. To get the electric, we have to unhook the sewer. Not an ideal situation. The other negative was the small site. I can see and hear the family in the neighboring site. I did not like that at all. I live in a big house with bigger yard so it was uncomfortable. They have free paddle boats, rock climbing and hiking trails. The staff was nice. We had good time.
Jul 19, 2023 · Bushra UmbreenI went with a team to explore this site for an upcoming retreat. It was breathtaking. Our tour guide Tracey who is a volunteer was vibrant, knowledgeable and professional all in one.The Lake literally is a mirror and fishing is allowed. We looked at rooms in Miller and Bergers houses. Miller House has bunk beds that sleep 4 and a double bed and a bathroom - so 5 persons/room can be housed in this cluster. Bergers cluster has 2 bunk beds and a double bed and bathroom. In addition there are 6 studio apartments on the camp site as well as RVs, and you can also park your personal RV on the camp grounds at a cost of course. A gift shop is there too. A huge gym, large dining area and a mobile food truck. There are some cabins sans bathrooms.I would definitely recommend Mirror Lake for individuals or groups for a time of reflection, tranquility, tuning in to nature, bonding, etc.
Aug 23, 2022 · Donna W.Not worth it at all the money..look for better places around. Too much of construction going on and the place is full of dust... None of the activities listed on the websites are available and they never tell you that..not even boating. An old food trucked just parked and has been out of service..The lake is dirty and not maintained at all. Everything is old and unmaintained. The breakfast was quite bad ..stale breads with on moulds on it. I saw bag of bagels which was dated 3 months old ..on asking I was told that its been kept in the freezer so its not spoilt ...really ??
Aug 25, 2021 · U PerJust came back from Mirror Lake Retreat with a large group of friends and everyone raved about the trip. It was our first time going and we were a little bit nervous about the lack of actual photos of the renovations on the website. When we finally arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff and was guided to our cabin. The cabin had everything we needed. Freshly painted with brand new bunk beds, clean pillow, bedsheets, and towels. As for amenities, the gym was on the older side but was large enough to accommodate our whole group of close to 40 people. We had more than enough room for a basketball game, volleyball game, and cornhole toss at the same time. The gym had an artificial turf that can be rolled up in different sections. We also rented the Cole Room (dining area with a kitchen) and when we needed some tables, extra trash bags, the staff was super responsive and helpful. They would fly over to us in their golf carts in minutes and help us with whatever we needed. Some people in our group did archery and others climbed the rock wall. Archery required you to be 12 yo+ and the rock wall had a weight restriction of 40 lb+. Three people can climb at the same time. 2 on the rock wall, 1 on the vertical rope/obstacle course. Boat/kayak rentals were available as well but no one opted for that. The cost for activities is $20/pp/activity.We also did not opt in for the meal plan as that was a little pricey and some in our group had dietary restrictions. We had younger kids that are especially picky and would've only eaten a couple of chicken nuggets (and maybe a slice of pizza) which made the cost of food unreasonable. What also swayed us was that there were lots of restaurants nearby in Rhinebeck (15 min away) to choose from and a Dunkin Donuts by the gas station nearby (
