Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds Inc Reviews
Was fun, went with a few friends. Upon arrival staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the lady at the desk. She was the biggest sweetheart. Towards the second night we stayed staff stormed onto our camp with a golf cart like Paul Revere yelling that the British were coming and angrily demanded that we packed up. We were very confused and distraught. We were accused of stealing wood from the site next to us after multiple people went to the office and reported it. The site next to us was a friend who gave us prior permission to use it. It was all a big misunderstanding that wasn’t communicated correctly at all. I feel like the staff could’ve handled the situation better instead of just automatically coming at us like attack dogs. However the situation was handled and they left quickly. So just keep into consideration that you’ll have fellow nosy campers next to you that’ll watch your movements like hawks and certain act first ask questions later type of staff members.
Apr 17, 2025 · Spare EmailI love this campground. The sites along the stream are my favorite, it feels very secluded on the side of the stream which is what you want in my opinion. We stayed in lovers lane 8. Spent a lot of time swimming in the ice cold swimming hole, my girlfriend caught a few trout there later in the day, and the facility is dog friendly! My experience with the staff has been completely positive in the two years that I have been coming to this site. The camp store has all the little last minute items you might have forgotten at home, and someone was selling farm fresh eggs and meat on Labor Day weekend thereLast but not least the bathrooms are clean, the showers are clean and hot,And there’s even a full size laundromat forCampers to use.I didn’t use the pool or many of the other facilities but thereIs plenty of stuff for your family to do at a campsite like rip van winkles!I look forward to coming back forMy next trip
Sep 03, 2024 · Juan DelacruzThe campground looked nice although a bit pricy ($80 for a single tent site). I haven’t had the time to explore it thoroughly, I was there only for one night, but I had a good overall impression of the park.Only two things left me disappointed:1) I didn’t see recycling bins in the trash area, only one big container where everyone would dump anything. I found that very disrespectful for the environment, so I preferred to take back with me my recyclable waste.2) The wood bundles sold at the camp store were wrapped in plastic, which was also quite a paradox. These two things gave me the impression that there was not enough environmental attention, which in my opinion it should be a priority for such a place.
Oct 02, 2024 · Rolando BelardoniOur stay at Rip Van Winkle was everything we hoped for. The sites are large with lots of trees for shade. I'm not sure if we just timed it right but the campground was fairly empty so it was QUIET! Over the weekend there were a few families but they weren't loud and the kids were great. Our dog enjoyed walking along the path through the campground, and along the Platekill creek. We also took her wading in the creek which she loved. Deer walked through the site next to ours. There were Fun Zones set up all throughout the camp for kids, everything was well kept. We didn't need to use the bathhouses or restrooms as we were in our RV but they seemed to be well spaced out throughout the grounds. We are already planning a return trip.
Jun 28, 2024 · Lauren DillonThe service at the office was very helpful. Very friendly. The sites were spacious and big. I wish they had a little more stuff for the kids to do during the day and a little more activity for the adults at night. Maybe a DJ or something. Rip rip snacks avoid rip snacks. I mean we got the fish and chips which were fries which were soggy and the fish was hard. It was old tasted old. It was baked not fried and it was hard. Almost broke a tooth but the place is very nice. The campground sites themselves are spacious and comfortable
