Really peaceful. I thought the lack of cell reception would be a real burden, but it was nice for a night I do wish there was ONE spot on grounds that had it though because I had to drive up road 5 min to get reception enough to change my reservation.Camp staff members were incredibly involved, even going from one campsite to the other and interacting, sitting and watching cars entering, and checking in with campers. I appreciated all of this! It made me feel so safe! There a large dog park-and signs reminding dog parents that dogs must be leashed at all times anywhere else-but none of the dogs I saw were leashed. I do wish people would obey the sign.I love walking and roaming, but a dog being friendly dislocated my hip last year, so I have to stay away (I have a medical condition that makes me fragile), and I get scared when dogs are off leash. At the showers, there was an off-leash husky just sitting out front. I simply didn’t shower, but that’s not fair to me. Leash your dogs in public places (and a campground is a public place).Other than that, I found the camp to be perfectly peaceful. Best night if sleep I’ve had in months! - Kristy Johnson

Wilson Campground, situated at 859 Wittenberg Rd, Mt Tremper, NY 12457, USA, offers a serene and nature-focused camping experience. With contact numbers (845) 679-7020 and +1 845-679-7020, this campground is highlighted for its peaceful atmosphere, friendly staff, and proximity to hiking trails, making it an attractive destination for those seeking a tranquil retreat in nature.

One of the frequently mentioned aspects of Kenneth L. Wilson Campground is its peaceful environment. Multiple reviewers describe it as "really peaceful" and "perfectly peaceful," emphasizing the tranquility that visitors can expect during their stay. This makes it an ideal location for individuals and families looking to escape the noise and stress of everyday life and immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of the Catskills.

A notable feature of this campground is the limited or absent cell phone reception. One reviewer initially viewed the "lack of cell reception" as a potential "burden" but ultimately found it "nice for a night," appreciating the opportunity for a digital detox. However, this same reviewer also expressed a desire for "ONE spot on grounds that had it though" for necessary tasks like changing reservations, highlighting a potential inconvenience for some visitors who might need occasional connectivity. It's important for prospective campers to be aware of the limited cell service and plan accordingly if they anticipate needing to stay connected.

The camp staff at Kenneth L. Wilson Campground receive high praise for their attentiveness and engagement. One reviewer noted that staff members were "incredibly involved, even going from one campsite to the other and interacting, sitting and watching cars entering, and checking in with campers." This level of interaction and visibility contributed to the reviewer feeling "so safe," suggesting a well-managed and secure environment where camper well-being is a priority. The "friendly and helpful staff" is also mentioned by another reviewer, reinforcing the positive impression of the campground's management.

Kenneth L. Wilson Campground caters particularly well to tent campers. As one reviewer pointed out, it's a "great spot for tent camping," and each site is equipped with essential amenities such as a "fire pit and picnic table." The availability of these standard features enhances the convenience and enjoyment of tent camping, allowing guests to easily prepare meals and enjoy campfires in designated areas.

Basic but necessary facilities are also provided, including "bathrooms and showers." One reviewer specifically appreciated that "the water in the shower was more hot than I expected which was really nice," indicating that the shower facilities are well-maintained and offer a comfortable experience. Access to clean restrooms and hot showers is a significant amenity for tent campers and contributes to a more enjoyable stay.

The location of Kenneth L. Wilson Campground is a significant draw for outdoor enthusiasts. It is described as a "great location near some nice hikes in the Catskills." The proximity to various hiking trails allows campers to easily explore the natural beauty of the region, from leisurely walks to more challenging treks. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned that "there’s also some trails in the park that are fun to explore," suggesting that the campground itself offers opportunities for walking and nature observation without having to leave the premises.

While the overall experience at Kenneth L. Wilson Campground is largely positive, one recurring concern raised by a reviewer pertains to the enforcement of leash rules for dogs. The reviewer noted the presence of a "large dog park" and "signs reminding dog parents that dogs must be leashed at all times anywhere else," yet they observed that "none of the dogs I saw were leashed." This lack of adherence to the rules caused distress for the reviewer, who has a medical condition and a fear of off-leash dogs, leading to a situation where they felt unable to use the showers due to an unleashed dog nearby. This feedback highlights a potential issue regarding the consistent enforcement of pet policies, which could impact the comfort and safety of some campers.

Despite this concern, the reviewer still found the camp to be "perfectly peaceful" overall and reported having the "best night of sleep I’ve had in months," underscoring the generally tranquil atmosphere of the campground. Another reviewer echoed the sentiment of being able to "unplug and relax" due to the absence of cell service, recommending it to anyone seeking a true escape from digital connectivity.

In conclusion, Kenneth L. Wilson Campground offers local users a peaceful and nature-rich camping experience in the Catskill Mountains. Its key features include a tranquil environment, friendly and helpful staff, well-equipped tent campsites with fire pits and picnic tables, clean bathrooms with hot showers, and convenient access to hiking trails both within the park and in the surrounding Catskills. The lack of cell service is presented as a benefit for those wanting to disconnect, though it may be a consideration for others. A potential area for improvement, as noted by a reviewer, is the consistent enforcement of leash rules for pets to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests. For those prioritizing a peaceful tent camping experience and opportunities for hiking in a beautiful natural setting, Kenneth L. Wilson Campground is a highly recommended "camping near me" option.
