Imagine spending your evenings by the water, enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature.

It's important to note some specific details regarding parking. According to recent reviews, on-site parking directly at the campsite is limited. Only one site, specifically mentioned as "site #4" and described as the first one on the right after reaching the campground signs, is suitable for pulling a car directly in. For the other campsites, you should be prepared to carry your gear a short distance, approximately a hundred or so feet from the road. This walk-in tent camping experience can further immerse you in the natural surroundings, but it's crucial to pack accordingly and be prepared for a short trek with your equipment.

The fact that it's free allows you to fully enjoy the natural beauty of the area without the added cost typically associated with campgrounds.
Recent visitors have also commented on the manageable presence of bugs, particularly in the evening. While some insects are to be expected in any outdoor environment, one review noted that the amount of bugs during their visit in early June was "decent" and "manageable." It's always a good idea to come prepared with insect repellent to ensure a comfortable stay.
The reviews also suggest that Allaben Campground is not overly crowded, at least during certain times of the year. One visitor mentioned that it was "not busy" during their visit in early June 2024, indicating a potentially peaceful and uncrowded camping experience. This could be particularly appealing to those seeking solitude and a break from the hustle and bustle of more popular camping destinations.

Allaben Campground Reviews
Decent little camping area. Sites are well dispersed. Parking on-site is only available at one of the sites. For the others you'll have to carry your gear a hundred or so feet off the road.
Apr 07, 2025 · Rev. Beardman SamGreat free campground! Only one site suitable for a car to pull in (site #4 - first one on the right when you reach the signs) the others are too tight and walking in with a tent would be easier.Pretty little pond, campfire ring, picnic table and ample space. Not busy when we visited on 6/3/24. Decent amount of bugs in the evening but manageable
Jun 04, 2024 · Jaimie BraaksmaThis was mine and my friends' first time primitive camping and it was so much fun! Portapotty was pretty clean and taken care of and our campsite had a nice fire pit. Would love to come back!
May 16, 2021 · Catalina McQuadeThis was a great roadside camp with a decent amount of spots. Some of them are even large enough to share if the original camper is okay with that. It was convenient to camp for a night before waking up early to hike up Hunter Mountain. I will use it again in the future if I need to arrive late before a backpacking trip.
Apr 30, 2023 · Carissa Rosalie ShillingfordIt was kind of rainy but still awesome! All the campsites have Wonderful privacy and the outhouse is maintained well
