Are you searching for an authentic "camping near me" experience that takes you away from the everyday and immerses you in the heart of nature? Look no further than Camp Tri-Mount, a well-regarded campground located at 261 Boyscout Rd, East Jewett, NY 12424, USA. Situated high in the scenic Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, Camp Tri-Mount offers a unique opportunity to connect with the wilderness and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. For local users in US seeking information for potential future travel or anyone interested in traditional camping experiences, this detailed introduction will provide a comprehensive overview of what Camp Tri-Mount has to offer, based on available information.
Immerse Yourself in a Mountain Wilderness Environment:
Camp Tri-Mount is described by past attendees as being located "way up in the mountains," far removed from the "lights and noise of an urban (or even suburban) area." This suggests a truly immersive natural environment characterized by the rugged beauty of the Catskill Mountains. You can anticipate being surrounded by dense forests, potentially with varying elevations and natural terrain. The absence of pavement and sidewalks further emphasizes the rustic and natural feel of the campground. This setting provides an ideal escape for those looking to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the tranquility of the wilderness. Imagine breathing in the fresh mountain air, being surrounded by the sounds of nature, and experiencing the beauty of a starlit sky unpolluted by urban lights.
The specific flora and fauna of the area would be typical of the Catskill Mountain region, which includes a variety of deciduous and coniferous trees, diverse wildlife, and natural streams or possibly small lakes. The mountainous terrain likely offers opportunities for hiking and exploring the natural landscape. The changing seasons would dramatically alter the environment, from lush greenery in the summer to vibrant foliage in the fall and a potentially snow-covered landscape in the winter, although the operational status of the campground during winter is not specified.
Services and Facilities Focused on the Outdoor Experience:
Based on the reviews, Camp Tri-Mount focuses on providing a traditional outdoor camp experience rather than offering modern amenities. The absence of a pool, pavement, and sidewalks highlights this commitment to a more natural setting. However, the reviews also indicate the presence of essential facilities and services that support a range of outdoor activities:
- Accommodation: The camp provides cots and tents for accommodation. A recent positive note is that these have been replaced in recent years and are described as "much nicer," suggesting an ongoing effort to maintain and improve basic lodging.

- Basic Amenities: While not explicitly detailed, a campground would typically provide basic amenities such as restroom facilities, access to potable water, and potentially designated areas for campfires (with adherence to safety regulations). Camp Tri-Mount Reviews
Camper there in the late 90s and Counselor from 99 to 08. Loved the camp and it was a great place to grow up and spend my summers. Not sure what the camp condition is anymore though, haven't stepped foot there in 20 years.
Jun 23, 2024 · John KopaskieI attended camp as a youth 30 years ago and now for the past 10 as a leader. The camp is very nice. It is located way up in the mountains and away from the lights and noise of an urban (or even suburban) area. In the past few years they have replaced the cots and tents around camp and are much nicer. If you haven't been to a camp that is truly in the woods, this is one to try. There is no pavement, sidewalks, or pool... But if you would like to do archery, swim, row, canoe, ropes course, rifle range, and so much more; give it a try.
Jul 27, 2018 · Sean BanksMy troop goes to tri-mount at least twice a year. Fun trails, heated showers at the bathhouse and centrally located in the Hudson valley
Jan 10, 2023 · joshua zalogaThere are many things wrong with this camp, but I'm getting the obvious out of the way. The dining hall is dirty, the trading post (shop) takes to long to get anything, the tents are old and have holes in them, and I wouldn't even feed the food to my dog. Some other problems, there was a woman in the staff who was concerned with some of the scouts in my troop, because one is lactose intolerant and another can't have gluten. She was the only one in the entire staff who was cancerned and she was fired when she brought up the topic. Also some of the staff (Not naming anyone) is way to harsh when it comes to merit badges. This was a waste of a week and $400. I reccomend Onteora Scout Reservation over this camp
Jul 15, 2017 · Christopher DeanWithout proper funding and the lack of volunteers it makes the camp hard to keep thriving. But for what it is it's a great camp.
