Money Creek Campground

Stevens Pass Hwy, Skykomish, WA 98288, USA

4.0
We had a great time at this campsite! Clean, quiet (minus train) with a great view of the river. We stayed at spot #17 and will be coming back! The camp hostess and maintenance man were extremely helping and caring when we woke up to a flat tire. They jumped right in to help us and got us on our way. I would have given it a 5/5 but the train goes by what seemed like every two hours and the horn is loud! There was also noise from the road being on the east side of the campground. The spaces are large and well spaced. Truly, a great spot - Cori Lydic

Money Creek Campground Introduce

For local adventurers seeking the quintessential 'camping near me' experience in the breathtaking landscapes of Washington State, Money Creek Campground, situated along Stevens Pass Hwy in Skykomish, WA 98288, USA, emerges as a highly recommended destination. Based on firsthand accounts from fellow campers, Money Creek Campground offers a blend of natural beauty, helpful service, and spacious accommodations, making it an attractive option for various types of campers. This detailed introduction aims to provide local users with a comprehensive understanding of what Money Creek Campground has to offer, drawing directly from the experiences shared by those who have stayed there.

The environment surrounding Money Creek Campground is a significant draw, with multiple reviewers highlighting the presence and view of the river. The campground's proximity to the river enhances the camping experience, offering scenic vistas and the soothing sounds of flowing water. One camper specifically mentioned having a "great view of the river" from campsite #17, indicating that some sites are particularly well-positioned to appreciate this natural feature. Another reviewer who secured a spot "next to the river" after a less favorable experience elsewhere emphasized how the "noise from the river kept the whole campground filled with the sounds of nature," effectively creating a tranquil ambiance and even helping to "drown out any potential sounds from neighbors." This suggests that the river plays a vital role in shaping the auditory and visual landscape of the campground, contributing to a more immersive natural experience.

In terms of services and features, Money Creek Campground appears to prioritize guest comfort and assistance. The positive interactions with the camp hostess and maintenance man stand out in one review. When faced with a flat tire, the campers received prompt and caring help, with the staff "jumping right in to help us and got us on our way." This level of support underscores a commitment to guest well-being and can be particularly reassuring for travelers. The availability of such helpful staff can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, knowing that assistance is readily available if needed.

The campsites themselves are described as "large and well spaced," which is a significant advantage for campers seeking privacy and room to set up their tents or park their RVs comfortably. This spacing also contributes to a more peaceful environment, minimizing the feeling of being crowded. One reviewer specifically appreciated the "raised platform area for a flat space for your tent," noting it as a "wonderful touch I don't see too often." This thoughtful feature demonstrates attention to the needs of tent campers, providing a more level and potentially drier surface for pitching tents.

For those interested in water-related activities, the river adjacent to the campground offers opportunities, although with a caveat. One reviewer noted that the river was "too quick next to the site to swim in," but it was "gorgeous to sit next to and read" and offered a sense of privacy with "no road view and cut off from neighbor sites." This suggests that while direct swimming might not be ideal in all areas of the river bordering the campground, it provides a beautiful and serene setting for relaxation. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned that "the picnic area at the entrance to the grounds has the calmer water," indicating a more suitable spot for water activities within the campground vicinity. Furthermore, "just a few minutes down the road there's a gorgeous swimming hole," suggesting that other swimming opportunities are easily accessible from the campground.

Despite the many positive aspects, the reviews also highlight a notable environmental factor: the presence of a nearby train line. Both reviewers mentioned the noise from the train, with one stating that it went by "what seemed like every two hours and the horn is loud!" and the other noting specific instances at "10 pm and then again at 6 am." While the sound of the river might help to mitigate some ambient noise, the train's horn is clearly a factor that some campers may find disruptive, particularly during the night. Additionally, one review mentioned "noise from the road being on the east side of the campground," indicating that proximity to Stevens Pass Hwy could also contribute to some level of traffic noise.

Considering the category 'camping near me,' Money Creek Campground offers a compelling option with its clean and spacious sites, scenic river views, and helpful staff. The unique feature of raised tent platforms is a notable bonus for tent campers. While the noise from the train and the nearby road are factors to consider, the overall positive experiences shared by campers suggest that the benefits often outweigh these drawbacks, especially for those who value a riverfront setting and a well-maintained campground.

To make an informed decision about camping at Money Creek Campground, local users may want to consider the type of camping they prefer (tent or RV), their sensitivity to noise, and their interest in river access and nearby swimming opportunities. The positive comments about the cleanliness and the helpfulness of the staff are strong indicators of a well-managed campground that prioritizes the comfort and safety of its guests.

In conclusion, for those searching for 'camping near me' near Skykomish, WA, Money Creek Campground presents a welcoming environment with clean, spacious campsites, beautiful river views, and exceptional staff support. The raised tent platforms and the availability of calmer water areas for recreation add to its appeal. While the occasional train noise and some road noise are factors to be aware of, the overall consensus from past campers points to a "great time" and a "lovely time" spent at this location. We encourage local users to consider Money Creek Campground for their next outdoor adventure and to contact them at (541) 338-7869 for reservations and further inquiries.
