Morris-Erickson Campground Introduce
For local users in the New Auburn, Wisconsin area searching for "camping near me," Morris-Erickson Campground, located at 28561 WI-40, New Auburn, WI 54757, offers a lakeside setting with some notable features and considerations based on recent customer reviews. Situated directly adjacent to Highway 40, this small campground provides access to a clean lake with a sandy beach and fishing opportunities, but potential campers should be aware of the proximity to the highway and the layout of the campsites.
The environment of Morris-Erickson Campground is primarily defined by its lakeside location. Reviewers mention that "The lake setting is pretty" and that the "Lake is very clean, with a nice sandy bottom beach." This suggests that the campground offers appealing waterfront access, suitable for swimming and enjoying the lake. The presence of "private docks" is also noted, indicating potential opportunities for boating or fishing directly from the campground. However, one significant environmental factor to consider is the campground's direct adjacency to Highway 40. One reviewer explicitly states, "This campground is located directly adjacent to HWY 40, so if listening to traffic is something you enjoy while camping, then go here." This suggests that traffic noise could be a noticeable aspect of the camping experience at Morris-Erickson Campground. Despite the potential noise, the natural beauty of the lake and the surrounding area still seems to hold appeal for some visitors, especially those who appreciate hearing "the loons" at night and in the early mornings.
The services at Morris-Erickson Campground include some basic amenities. The campground offers "flush toilets" in the bathrooms, which is a convenience often appreciated by campers. However, a notable drawback mentioned by a reviewer is that there are "no sinks in the bathrooms." This could be an important consideration for hygiene and convenience. In terms of campsite utilities, one review indicates "No water hook ups, electric only." This means that RV campers will have access to electricity but will need to be self-sufficient for water. The campground is described as "small" with "fairly tight spaces," which might affect the ease of maneuvering larger RVs and the overall sense of space and privacy. However, one reviewer did note seeing "30+ ft bumper pulls and 5th wheels" managing to use the sites, suggesting that while tight, larger rigs can be accommodated. The presence of a "camp attendant" who is "onsite, friendly and helpful" is a significant service that can enhance the camping experience by providing assistance and ensuring the smooth operation of the campground. The availability of a "nice sandy bottom beach" is another service that caters to recreational needs, particularly for families and those who enjoy swimming.
The features of Morris-Erickson Campground are centered around its lakeside access and basic amenities. The "private docks" offer a unique feature for those interested in boating or fishing. The "very clean" lake with a "nice sandy bottom beach" is a significant draw for swimming and enjoying the water. The presence of flush toilets, while lacking sinks, is still a step up from vault toilets found in more rustic campgrounds. The availability of electric hookups at the campsites is essential for RV campers. The potential for good fishing is also highlighted, with one reviewer mentioning that "Lots of little panfish can be caught from shore," which was enjoyable for children. However, the lack of privacy between campsites is a noted drawback, with one reviewer stating, "There is not privacy between campsites." This could be a significant consideration for campers who value seclusion and a sense of personal space. The small size of the campground and the tight spacing of sites might also be a limiting factor for some. Despite these drawbacks, the lakeside setting and the presence of a helpful attendant contribute positively to the overall experience for some visitors.
The provided reviews do not contain any specific promotional information for Morris-Erickson Campground. Campgrounds sometimes offer discounts for longer stays, off-season rates, or special packages, but there is no mention of such promotions in the available feedback. Local users interested in potential deals or discounts would need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone number to inquire about any current offers. The fact that one reviewer mentioned camping there "in a pinch" suggests that it might be a convenient option for last-minute stays, but this is not necessarily a promotional offer.
For local users in the New Auburn, Wisconsin area looking for "camping near me" with lake access, Morris-Erickson Campground offers a clean lake with a sandy beach and private docks. The presence of flush toilets and a helpful attendant are also positive aspects. However, potential campers should be aware of the campground's direct proximity to Highway 40, which may result in traffic noise, and the small, tightly spaced campsites that offer little privacy. The lack of water hookups at the sites is also a factor for RVers to consider. If a clean lake and basic amenities are priorities, and some level of noise and limited privacy are acceptable, Morris-Erickson Campground could be a viable option. However, those seeking a more secluded and quieter camping experience with full hookups might want to explore other options in the area.
The contrasting opinions in the reviews highlight the importance of individual preferences when choosing a campground. While one reviewer stated they would not return due to the traffic noise and lack of privacy, another found it to be an "overall nice clean campground" despite the tight spaces. The appeal of the clean lake and the friendly attendant seemed to outweigh the drawbacks for some. Therefore, local users should weigh the pros and cons based on their own priorities and camping style. If lakeside activities and basic comforts are the main focus, and highway noise and limited privacy are not major concerns, Morris-Erickson Campground could be worth considering.
In conclusion, Morris-Erickson Campground near New Auburn, Wisconsin, offers a lakeside camping experience with a clean lake, sandy beach, and private docks. While it provides flush toilets and a helpful attendant, potential local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of its location directly adjacent to Highway 40, the lack of sinks in the bathrooms, the small and tightly spaced campsites with limited privacy, and the absence of water hookups at the electric-only sites. Weighing these factors against the appeal of the lake and the basic amenities will help local campers decide if Morris-Erickson Campground is the right choice for their needs.

Morris-Erickson Campground Reviews
This campground is located directly adjacent to HWY 40, so if listening to traffic is something you enjoy while camping, then go here. They have flush toilets but no sinks in the bathrooms. There is not privacy between campsites. The lake setting is pretty and they do have private docks. Camped here in a pinch but won't be returning.
Jul 10, 2022 · ChrisSmall campground with fairly tight spaces. Lake is very clean, with a nice sandy bottom beach. At night and early mornings you hear the loons. No water hook ups, electric only. The public bathroom is clean and the camp attendant is onsite, friendly and helpful. Lots of little panfish can be caught from shore, which my daughter really enjoyed . Overall nice clean campground and the only reason I give it only 3 stars is that the sites are close together. Did see 30+ ft bumper pulls and 5th wheels so despite close. quarters, some big rigs make it work.
