Mountain View Campground Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience that combines scenic beauty with modern amenities? Mountain View Campground, located in Duchesne, UT 84021, USA, appears to be a relatively new and well-maintained campground situated on the water, likely Starvation Reservoir given its proximity to other mentioned campgrounds in the area. Based on recent customer reviews, Mountain View Campground offers a pleasant and comfortable camping experience with several notable features, making it an attractive option for local campers seeking a getaway.
Environment: Gorgeous Lakeside Views with Open Sites
The environment of Mountain View Campground is highly praised for its "gorgeous view" of the water. The campground's location directly on the water provides easy access and stunning scenery for campers. The quiet atmosphere is also a significant advantage, as the site is "not close to any busy roads," ensuring a peaceful and relaxing stay. Many visitors bring boats or kayaks, indicating that the lake is a central feature for recreational activities.
The campground layout includes "nice level concrete pads" for the campsites, suggesting ease of setup for both RVs and tents. The sites also offer "good space between" them, providing a sense of privacy and room. While there are "a couple trees," the majority of the sites are described as "completely exposed," offering little shade. This is an important consideration for campers, especially during hot summer days, as bringing awnings or shade structures might be necessary for comfort.
The presence of "cute cabins on the water as well" indicates an alternative lodging option for those who prefer not to tent or RV camp but still want to enjoy the lakeside environment. The overall impression of the environment is positive, focusing on the beautiful water views and quiet setting, with the caveat of limited shade in most campsites.

Mountain View Campground seems to offer a range of modern services and amenities that enhance the camping experience:
- Water and Electric at Each Site: A significant convenience for RVers and tent campers alike, providing access to essential utilities at every campsite.
- Full Hookup Sites: While limited to only four sites, full hookups (water, electric, and sewer) are available for RVs at a slightly higher rate.
- Clean and Modern Bathrooms: The campground boasts "super nice" bathrooms, including a central facility with "10 restrooms next to the host site," each featuring a "large shower with hot water and good pressure!" Additionally, there are two bathrooms at each end of the campground, ensuring convenient access for all campers.
- RV Dump Station: A dump station is located close to the campground, allowing RVers to easily dispose of waste. Potable and non-potable water is available at the dump station.
- Covered Picnic Tables: The center row of pull-through sites features covered picnic tables, providing shade and a sheltered area for dining and gathering.
- Self-Pay System: For after-hours arrivals, there is a self-pay system at the state park entrance with posted fees ($28 for full hookups, $25 for water and electric). Campers are expected to pay ahead of time using the provided envelopes.
The availability of clean showers is a particularly noteworthy amenity, often highly valued by campers. The presence of both water/electric hookups and a dump station caters well to the RV community, while tent campers can also benefit from the water access at each site.

Mountain View Campground Reviews
This is a really nice campground with only a few things that kept it from being a 5-star.It appears to be fairly new compared to so many sites we stay at. This site is on the water with a gorgeous view. Bathrooms are super nice. There are 10 restrooms next to the host site and each one has its own large shower with hot water and good pressure! There are also two bathrooms on each end of the camp. Cute cabins on the water as well. We came in our camper van.The sites have nice level concrete pads with good space between the sites. There is water and electric at each site and a picnic table. The center row pull through have covered picnic tables. There are a couple trees but other than that it is completely exposed in all other sites. It is very quiet at this site which we really appreciated as it is not close to any busy roads. Many people bring their boats or kayaks here. It was very windy so we took a spot off the water .We are on a 2-month trip and just stopped here without a reservation . We weren’t sure what to expect or what was available. It was around 6:15pm so no one was manning the state park entrance . There is a note to pay ahead of time and it provides the fees ($28 full hook ups, $25 for water and electric). We went ahead and paid for full hookups and put the cash in the envelope. There are only 4 full hook up sites and they were all taken. Not a big issue but the pay station is about a mile from the campsite so we didn’t want to go look them go back as we were hungry and tired. We weren’t even sure if any sites were available but we took the risk. There were several open sites so we were fine. There is a dump station close to the campground so we dumped on the way out as we were only there for the night.. There is potable and non-potable water at the dump station.
May 19, 2021 · Terri GriffinGreat little campground. Water and power hook ups, they have a sewage dump right outside of the campground. Clean showers, and campground itself. The flies were a bit of a problem, would rather them than mosquitos though . Not a long walk down to the lake, great location!
Sep 07, 2021 · Steve WrightMe and my entire family came here for our family reunion. It was a great experience, and very well kept area. The reservoir was huge with many hiking, boating, and outdoor activities. They even have aquatic trampolines for rent which was is something I've never seen! Although we did come prepared to tent camping, it was much too windy. There was however, plenty of space to tent camp. The RV areas seemed very nice as well, and the staff/rangers seemed very attentive at cleaning the shower areas/bathrooms. There were horshoe areas, volleyball, and soccer nets available. All in all I would definitely come back, it was a gorgeous campground!
Aug 01, 2018 · Jeremy GriggsNice parking, clean showers and bathrooms, best in the park. Great view of the lake. Not as crowded as the beach campground, and we didn't have nearly as much broken stuff from the wind as we do at the beach campground.
Jul 16, 2021 · Stephanie BlackNice campgrounds but wouldn’t recommend if you are just going in a tent. You are bound to be surrounded by RVs and the engines and noise from them may prevent you from sleeping. The bathrooms were nice and mostly clean, they had plenty of warm water too. If you are looking to spend some time on the reservoir and have an RV then it’s great for you.
