One satisfied camper described it as a "great, beautiful spot with nice scenery," highlighting the natural appeal of the location. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat or a basecamp for exploring the surrounding attractions, Mountain View Campground provides an appealing environment.
What sets Mountain View Campground apart is not just its natural beauty but also the unexpected convenience of having an on-site restaurant: JR's Roadkill Barbecue and Ribs. As one surprised visitor noted, this culinary gem might not appear in typical restaurant searches, making it a delightful discovery for travelers along US-19 between Murrayville and Blairsville. This restaurant offers a convenient option for campers looking for a quick and delicious bite without having to venture far from their campsite.
The reviews rave about the food at JR's Roadkill Barbecue and Ribs, particularly the pulled pork sandwich, which was described as "humongous and delicious" with a smoky flavor. Whether you're craving classic barbecue or looking for other tasty options, the on-site restaurant adds significant value to the camping experience at Mountain View Campground.
Beyond the food, the welcoming atmosphere and the presence of a general store also contribute to the positive experiences of visitors. This suggests that the campground offers more than just campsites; it provides a sense of community and convenience for its guests.
For those looking for some evening entertainment, Mountain View Campground also boasts a restaurant and bar that apparently features karaoke on the weekends. This adds another layer of appeal, offering campers the opportunity to socialize, unwind, and enjoy some lively entertainment without leaving the campground. The reviewer who mentioned the karaoke expressed a desire to return specifically to try it out, indicating that it's a significant draw for some visitors.
In a testament to the campground's hospitality and flexibility, one reviewer shared a story of needing a "super last minute place to stay" due to a reservation error at another campground. They were met with kindness by the person running the campground and were able to secure a spot right on the creek. This highlights the campground's willingness to accommodate unexpected situations and provide a comfortable and safe place for travelers in need. The fact that they even had some cell service was an added bonus for this last-minute guest.

Mountain View Campground Reviews
I had no idea there was a restaurant in this location because only the campground shows up when you're doing a restaurant search on Google for places to eat in the mountains! We needed a quick bite and were looking for some place to stop between Murrayville and Blairsville. There just aren't a lot of options on 19.We cruised around a bend in the road and saw JR's Roadkill Barbecue and Ribs. With the name, I honestly wasn't expecting anything spectacular. Don't let the name fool you folks, we had an AMAZING pulled pork sandwich. It was humongous and delicious and tasted like they pulled the meat right off a smoker! If it was roadkill, I'd eat it again tomorrow. Their onion rings are deliciously breaded and fried and my sweet potato fries were also fresh and crispy. We just grabbed our food to-go because we had a appointment at a spa near Blairsville, so we ran in and out, but staff were incredibly welcoming, it just took a few minutes for our lunch to be made and it was really fun to look at the multitude of weird and wonderful objects in their general store as we waited. The restaurant and bar look like a lot of fun as well! Apparently there's karaoke on the weekends and I'm all about some karaoke! I want to come back just to try it out!
Sep 27, 2021 · Lisa E. (Peachy in Georgia)We needed a super last minute place to stay after making a date error on our campsite reservation at another campground and ended up here desperate and homeless! The guy that runs this place is great, he was super nice and we were able to get a place to sleep for the night right on the creek. It’s a great, beautiful spot with nice scenery, and even some cell service! Definitely count this place as a win!
