Neversink River Campgrounds Introduce
For local adventurers and families in the "camping near me" category seeking an outdoor retreat in the scenic region of New York, Neversink River Campgrounds, located at 192 Campground Rd, Woodbourne, NY 12788, USA, presents an option nestled near the Neversink River. This campground aims to offer a natural escape with various amenities. However, recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on the overall experience, highlighting both its positive aspects and areas where improvements may be needed. Local users should consider these varied experiences when deciding if Neversink River Campgrounds is the right choice for their getaway.
Based on the available customer feedback, the environment of Neversink River Campgrounds offers some appealing natural elements. One reviewer described their summer visit as "magical," specifically mentioning the "awesome" goats and the "so nice to swim in" Neversink River. This suggests that the campground benefits from a picturesque setting along the river, providing opportunities for swimming and interaction with farm animals, which could be a unique and enjoyable feature, especially for families with children. However, another reviewer's experience paints a different picture regarding the upkeep of the campsites. They reported "very high grass that hadn't been mowed in weeks" and the presence of "goose poop everywhere" at their site. While acknowledging that the goose poop might be outside of the campground's direct control, it contributed to an "overall bad experience" for this particular visitor. This discrepancy in the described environment suggests that the condition of individual campsites might vary, and maintenance could be an area of concern for some visitors. Local users might want to inquire about the specific condition of their chosen campsite prior to arrival.
The services and features of Neversink River Campgrounds, as described by recent visitors, offer a glimpse into what campers can expect. The positive review highlights "super friendly" people, suggesting a welcoming and helpful staff, which can significantly enhance the camping experience. The presence of goats is also mentioned as a notable feature, potentially offering a unique interaction for guests. The availability of the Neversink River for swimming is another significant amenity, providing a natural recreational opportunity. However, the negative review brings attention to potential shortcomings in service and amenities. The issue with the rented go-cart, which was booked and paid for but not available upon arrival, indicates potential problems with the reservation system or inventory management. The subsequent handling of the situation, with a reserved go-cart reportedly sitting unused while the inconvenienced family was denied its use, raises concerns about customer service responsiveness. Furthermore, the noise issue experienced on the first night, with "people playing loud music till 3 am" and "dogs fighting and barking that late as well," suggests a potential lack of enforcement of quiet hours, which can significantly impact the quality of sleep and overall enjoyment for other campers. The presence of a check-in staff is mentioned, but the experience with the go-cart rental indicates that communication and service recovery could be improved. To gain a comprehensive understanding of all available services and features, local users in the "camping near me" category should contact Neversink River Campgrounds directly at (845) 434-8926 or +1 845-434-8926 to inquire about specific amenities such as restroom facilities, shower availability, fire pits, picnic tables, Wi-Fi access (if any), and the campground's policies regarding quiet hours and pet control.
The features of Neversink River Campgrounds appear to be centered around its natural setting and some recreational activities. The proximity to the Neversink River and the opportunity for swimming are undoubtedly key features, especially during the warmer months. The presence of goats offers a unique and potentially engaging experience, particularly for families with children who might enjoy interacting with farm animals. The positive mention of friendly staff suggests a welcoming atmosphere. However, potential drawbacks include the inconsistent maintenance of campsites, as highlighted by the high grass and goose poop issue, and the apparent lack of reliable management regarding pre-booked amenities like the go-carts. The noise levels at night, with loud music and barking dogs, could also be a significant negative feature for those seeking a peaceful camping experience. The location in Woodbourne, NY, while offering a natural escape, might require a drive for most local users, so transportation should be considered. The mixed reviews suggest that while the campground has the potential to offer a "magical" experience due to its natural setting and friendly staff, inconsistencies in maintenance and service, as well as potential issues with noise control, could detract from the overall stay. Local users should weigh these factors based on their individual priorities and preferences for a camping getaway.

Neversink River Campgrounds Reviews
Immaculate vibes up at Neversink. Went there for a couple nights in the summer and it was magical. The goats are awesome, the river is so nice to swim in. The people are super friendly. Would recommend 10/10 and will visit again one day.
Apr 26, 2025 · Zach FloodWe came memorial day weekend. After a long drive from buffalo new york we couldn't wait to just check in and set up our camp. The check in staff told us that they were going to get our go cart we rented so my husband left with the car to our site. They never found a go cart for me and apologized and said we would be refunded. This was a big game changer because we did not bring the kids bikes or scooters for the reason of renting a go cart. How can I book and pay for it then get here and you tell us you don't have one for our family. Mind you two go carts sat up front the first night of our stay so I went up to front desk again asking why can't we use one of those go carts. They lady replied those are reserved for people checking in today. So why didn't they let us use it the first night of our stay to accommodate us for the inconvenience they caused us. Our site had very high grass that hadn't been mowed in weeks and goose poop everywhere. I know that the poop was out of their control but it was just adding to an overall bad experience. The first night we stayed was awful there was people playing loud music till 3 am dogs fighting and barking that late as well it was so hard to fall asleep. I will not be returning to this place ever again but we're here for a couple more days so fingers crossed it goes better than the first night.
May 25, 2024 · Nichole FedickWe rolled up just before 4th July weekend and they found a spot for us in the shade. It was perfect! Wasn’t a “rented rectangle” it was an area plenty big enough for a big rig, fire pit and picnic table (provided) Laundry, good hot showers, pool, plenty of firewood, awesome “river rapids” to walk to and in. Absolutely recommend this campground… people were friendly and helpful.Thank You
Jul 02, 2022 · Tracy NissenThis was a great little camping spot. Tent sites are big...most with electric and water. Some sites have a Pavlovian. Cash only!!! Sites are around 38$ a night. Showers very clean. Pool was great... Life graurd on duty. The only reason i didn't give 5 stars was the last night we stayed some seasonal campers thought it was cool to party from 10pm to 7am all night music and loud people. I had a 6 hour drive the next morning with 1 hour sleep. I wish quite times were better enforced.
Aug 11, 2019 · Tammy EnglertMy husband and I was slated to stay here for a few nights and could not. As soon as we drove up, we both looked at each other with a resounding “NO”. The vibe here is far from peaceful and clean. The site looks run down. There were huge flies swarming our car! It’s pretty hard to make nature unattractive something this site sadly managed to accomplish. No thank you.
