North Beach Campground Introduce
Are you searching for an exceptional "Camping Near Me" destination that combines stunning coastal access with natural beauty and convenient amenities? Look no further than North Beach Campground, situated at 399 S Dolliver St, Pismo Beach, CA 93449, USA. As one of California's cherished State Beaches campgrounds, North Beach offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery of the Central Coast.
For local users seeking a nearby escape, North Beach Campground provides an easily accessible haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. You can reach them for inquiries or reservations at (805) 473-7220 or their mobile number, +1 805-473-7220. This campground is ideally positioned for those wanting to experience the quintessential California beach camping experience without venturing too far from home.
One of the most significant advantages of North Beach Campground is its prime location within walking distance of both the beach and the dunes. Imagine stepping out of your campsite and within moments feeling the sand between your toes or exploring the unique coastal dune ecosystem. This direct access to diverse natural environments sets North Beach apart as a desirable "Camping Near Me" option.
Furthermore, the campground is conveniently located within a walkable distance (approximately a mile along the beach) to the iconic Pismo Pier. This allows campers to easily stroll along the shore to enjoy the pier's attractions, perhaps indulge in some fishing, or simply take in the panoramic ocean views. The proximity to Pismo Pier adds another layer of recreational opportunities to your camping experience.
Nature enthusiasts will be delighted by the abundance of walkable trails surrounding the campground. These trails range from accessible boardwalks to more adventurous sandy paths, catering to various fitness levels and preferences. Exploring these trails offers the chance to discover the local flora and fauna and fully appreciate the coastal landscape.
A truly exceptional feature of North Beach Campground is its location adjacent to a monarch butterfly sanctuary. This provides a unique and often breathtaking bonus for campers, especially during the migration season when thousands of these delicate creatures gather in the area. Witnessing the monarch butterflies in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience that adds significant value to a stay at this campground.
Guest reviews consistently highlight the appeal of the campsites themselves. Several reviewers have expressed their preference for specific sites (such as 4, 5, 6, and 7), indicating their quality and desirable locations within the campground. The fact that these sites are repeatedly booked by returning visitors speaks volumes about their appeal.
The beach directly connected to the campground is another major draw. Reviewers note that it is often less crowded than other nearby beaches, offering a more serene and peaceful environment for swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing by the ocean. This less-crowded atmosphere enhances the overall camping experience, allowing for a more intimate connection with the natural surroundings.
While the majority of feedback is positive, it's important to note a couple of potential drawbacks mentioned by a guest. Some campsites are situated close to the road, which can result in noise, particularly on weekends when traffic may be heavier. This is a factor to consider when selecting your campsite, especially if you are sensitive to noise.
Another point raised by a reviewer is the occasional noise from generators. While solar power is suggested as a quieter alternative, some campers do rely on generators, which can be disruptive to the tranquility of the campground. However, this seems to be a common issue in many campgrounds and not unique to North Beach.
On the positive side, the availability of hot showers is appreciated by campers, although they do come at a cost of 50 cents per minute. This is a useful amenity for those looking to freshen up after a day of beach activities or exploring the dunes.
North Beach Campground, as part of the California State Beaches system, often provides access to basic amenities to enhance the camping experience. While specific details about services beyond the showers are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, State Beaches campgrounds typically offer restrooms and drinking water. It's always advisable to check the official California State Parks website or contact the campground directly for a comprehensive list of available amenities.
For local users searching within the "Camping Near Me" category, North Beach Campground presents an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the California coastline. The combination of direct beach and dune access, proximity to Pismo Pier, the unique monarch butterfly sanctuary, and the availability of walkable trails creates a diverse and engaging camping environment. While some road noise and generator usage may occur, the overall experience, as reflected in the positive reviews, suggests a memorable coastal getaway.
Consider planning your next camping adventure at North Beach Campground to take advantage of its remarkable location and natural attractions. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to outdoor experiences, the allure of waking up to the sound of the ocean and having the beach and dunes at your doorstep is undeniable. The added bonus of the nearby Pismo Pier and the monarch butterfly sanctuary makes this "Camping Near Me" option truly special.
In conclusion, North Beach Campground offers a compelling blend of natural beauty and convenient access to coastal attractions, making it a highly recommended choice for local users seeking a memorable "Camping Near Me" experience in Pismo Beach. Book your campsite and prepare to enjoy the unique charm and recreational opportunities that this California State Beach campground has to offer.

North Beach Campground Reviews
Nice campground. Walking distance to the beach and the dunes, and to the pismo pier (a mile of beach or so). Lots of walkable trails, from boardwalks to sandy paths. Free camping on parts of the beach. The monarch butterfly sanctuary on one end of the campground is a great bonus! Only issue is some of the campground is a little close to the road which can be loud, especially on weekends. Lots of people run generators too, which can get annoying (solar works great and is silent!) showers are hot, 50 cents a minute!
Feb 12, 2025 · Adam OverlandOne of my favorite campgrounds among California State Beaches. I've camped at sites 4, 5, 6 and 7 and they were all great. The beach connected to the campground is amazing too and not with too many people!
Jan 23, 2025 · Andrew KWe love it here. Bathrooms and SHOWERS!! Every spot is relatively private. Cheapest place to camp in the area. Booked solid on weekends. but you can find spots if you are vigilant. Pet frindly. Close to groceries and gas. And most importantly... the beach!! Enjoy your stay!!
Apr 26, 2025 · Scott BarnesWhat a perfect camping location. A 2 minute walk to the beach and just down the road from the Dunes. Each camp site had a picnic table and fire pit. Bathrooms were clean. It is a more popular camping location so the grounds can get crowded but that wouldn’t deter us from staying here again.I do think that it’s kind of silly that campers can’t check in prior to 2pm (it was either 2pm or 3pm) even if their campsite has been vacated. It seems silly.Either way Pismo Beach is definitely worth a visit!
Dec 27, 2024 · Bonny AnnI stayed here by myself and felt very safe. It was super easy to check in and find my spot and the campground has a path in the back that leads right to the beach with incredible views. I could hear the beach waves from my campsite. Bathrooms were clean enough and there were plenty of stalls so I never had an issue of waiting, just bring your own soap.
